James Ritty (29 October 1836 – 29 March 1918), saloonkeeper and inventor, who patented the first cash register in 1879 as "Ritty's Incorruptible Cashier."

Background

This often overlooked inventor had his portrait, among other overlooked American inventors Richard G. Drew, Carl C. Magee, and Mary Anderson in a gallery at the Museum of Technology in 2077. Unfortunately the gallery has since been reduced to the frames and a placard by 2277.[1]

Appearances

James Ritty is mentioned only in Fallout 3.
