Spare some change for (hic) an out-of-work farmer?

Karl is a former Modoc inhabitant, who fled to the Den from his farm. He can be found in Mom's Diner in Fallout 2.

Background[edit | edit source]

An incredibly filthy drunk, Karl spends his days moping in the back of Mom's diner, begging passers-by for money to fuel his drinking habit. He used to be a fine, upstanding farmer from Modoc, who worked a farm to the northeast of the town. However, one day he began seeing glowing ghosts in the fields, who took his crops and cattle. Eventually, he couldn't take the stress and run away from the farm. He is presumed dead by Modoc citizens.

  • Karl can become upset if the player offers him Nuka-Cola, mocks him, or gives him too little money. In that case, he will refuse to tell his story, making it impossible to complete the above quests peacefully or learn his story in advance. In this case, the player will have to apologize and give him $100, a beer, or booze.
  • Of course, giving him any kind of alcohol will cause him to pass out for a few hours.
  • Female characters can sleep with Karl if they have 8 Charisma. The surprisingly enjoyable romp is worth $1000.
