The Magna Carta (Latin for "the Great Charter"), also called Magna Carta Libertatum (Latin for "the Great Charter of the Liberties"), is a charter agreed by King John of England at Runnymede, near Windsor, on 15 June 1215. It is a miscellaneous item and world object in Fallout 3.

The reason that the Magna Carta was in The National Archives instead of its country of origin is unknown however it is possible that the UK sent it to the US for safekeeping during the European Civil War. Despite being from across the Atlantic and having nothing to do with American history, there are some collectors willing to pay for the document.

It can be sold to Abraham Washington for 75 caps, or for 100 caps through a speech success.

The Magna Carta is a stored in The National Archives, Archives Secure Wing East. There is a hallway to the right just before you reach Button Gwinnett and the Declaration of Independence. The hallway leads past a Mister Gutsy to a room. In the room to the far right is the Magna Carta with some ammunition and two turrets. You will need a Lockpick skill of 50 for the door.

Although it no longer serves any purpose, this item is still found in the game files for Fallout: New Vegas.

Behind the scenes

The Magna Carta is a real historical document. In 2007, American billionaire David Rubenstein purchased one of the four existing copies and loaned it to the National Archives.
