Maize is a consumable item in Fallout: New Vegas.

Characteristics[edit | edit source]

It can restore some of your Hit Points without irradiating you. It is one of the few edible food items that doesn't give you any radiation, besides other fresh fruits or vegetables, and food found in a non-compromised vault. Additionally, in hardcore mode, it can reduce Starvation and Dehydration.

Maize is one of the most efficient (in terms of Starvation to weight ratio) hardcore mode food items in the game, should the Courier have low Survival skill, as it often removes more Starvation/Dehydration than most food items, contains zero Radiation, extremely common, and only weighs a quarter of a pound.

Maize can also be used to make homemade flamer fuel, Cass's moonshine, and mole rat stew.
