I can't just give up on Cheryl, but I might not end up having a choice.

Manny Koch was the leader, and the last remaining member, of a search party that set out from Canterbury Commons in Fallout 3.

Background[edit | edit source]

He was the leader of the search party from Canterbury Commons that attempted to locate the whereabouts of his sister Cheryl.[1] He made the trek to the Citadel where he they learned that Cheryl did acquire medicine and left for Reilly's Rangers compound two weeks prior. Having never entered the ruins before he was surprised that the stories were true. The only things alive were psychopaths and mutants.[2] Once there however they learned that she never made it to them. Offering to keep an eye out for her and suggesting that search for her in the western ruins, across the river.[3] After a month of searching and hiding from the super mutants Emmet cut his leg bad on one of the super mutant spikes. The resulting wound bled profusely, taking two shirts to stop the bleeding. This caused the search party to immediately head back to the Citadel to get Emmet treatment. It was a relief for them to be out of the ruins for a day, low on supplies and with Emmet seriously injured Manny lamented that although he cannot give up on finding his sister he might not have a choice in the matter. They camped just west of the Arlington Memorial bridge to cross in the morning, however Emmet died in the night. No longer needing to head to the Citadel, they decided to head back into the city and continue the search.[4]

After a time they discovered a holding area that the super mutants kept their captives, holding up for the night. The next day Kaya snuck in closer, although most are dead or dying they didn't see Cheryl. After witch they decided to wait a little longer. A few of the captives that were staked up attracted the attention of passing mercenaries whom stopped to take them down. This was all a trap, on not putting up a fight. This encounter gave Manny false hope that he'd see his sister again. Later these stakes attracted a Behemoth, once it finished its meal the mutants followed it. With Manny following the group hoping it would lead to his sister. The last entry in his log is of encountering a Brotherhood scout whom almost gave away their position, the mutants killing him. Once clear of the city Kaya said enough was enough and left for home. While Manny, probably the last of the party to continue to follow.[5] Manny was captured and died in a holding area. His remains among a pile intended for a Behemoth, the rest are either buried or chopped into manageable pieces and stored on gore bags for the super mutants to feed.[1]

In his character description the guide incorrectly refers to his sister as quote; "a good friend of his named "Cheryl."[1]

Bugs[edit | edit source]

  • Manny is not intended to be alive when found and if somehow found alive, he will attack the player. Note that he spawns alive and is then killed by the super mutants on location. If the super mutants are not present, he will be available for killing.
