Background[edit | edit source]

He is a capable combat medic, able to treat gunshot wounds, dig out shrapnel from soldiers, and help deal with trench feet. However, the situation at Bitter Springs, which calls for a more experienced medic with psychological training focused on managing PTSD and treating children results in Markland being completely out of his depth.
The good lieutenant is an honest, decent man in more ways than one. He is very polite, fair in his dealings, and genuinely cares about those put in his care.
