Mungo is the term the children in Little Lamplight use for adults since the time they were rejected entry by the inhabitants of Vault 87. If you talk to some residents of Little Lamplight, they will sing the chant: 'Mungo, Mungo, smells like dung-o!'. People are considered to be Mungos after they reach 16[1] and are no longer allowed to live in Little Lamplight.

"Mungo" is likely slang for "Humongous," as grown-ups can often look quite large to children.

"Mungo" is painted on the front gate of Little Lamplight, as well as on a sign outside of the main area toward the cave entrance.

The Lamplighters dislike of grown-ups is explained in Holotapes found around the caverns.

Notes

  • Sticky comments that only people "under 18" can occupy Little Lamplight, though it is clearly stated in several other places that the age is 16.
