Gecko kebab (also spelled kabob in some versions) is a consumable item in Fallout: New Vegas.

Characteristics

The gecko kebab provides a modest amount of health, restoring a total of 80 HP at the survival skill level necessary to craft it. It is also the best of the minority of food items which provide significant restoration to both the player's dehydration and starvation levels while in hardcore mode.

Locations

  • Freeside - gecko kebabs are occasionally sold by Genaro, who will have at most 6 in stock.

Notes

  • Prior to Patch 1.2.0.31x the crafting recipe for gecko kebabs called for one buffalo gourd seed in addition to its other ingredients.
  • Provided one has the necessary Survival skill and the necessary ingredients (which are common enough in the Mojave), Hardcore mode players should prefer this recipe to making Gecko steaks if possible. While Gecko steaks provide more immediate healing effect, Gecko kebabs provide a better overall healing potential, are slightly better at relieving starvation, and can also relieve dehydration.

Bugs

  • Xbox 360Xbox 360 Although it is referred to by the campfire recipe and internally as "gecko kebab", the item itself is named "gecko kabob" in some versions of the game. [verified]
