The New California Republic Military Police is the law enforcement branch of the New California Republic Army.

Background[]

With the signing of the New Vegas Treaty, the NCR was allowed to set up an embassy, which also housed headquarters for the Military Police. The Military Police on the Strip only have authority over NCR soldiers on leave there, as under the treaty the NCR Army is exempt from Securitron authority, unlike NCR citizens.

Military Police troopers can usually be singled out by their uniforms, consisting of standard fatigues worn without the breastplate that have "MP" armbands on the sleeves, and trooper helmets painted black with "MP" written in white on the front.

Largely similar to the NCR Army in terms of equipment, the only major difference is the Military Police's weapons. Under the New Vegas Treaty the NCR Army, including the Military Police, are not allowed to have firearms while in the Strip, with the exception of Captain Pappas.[1] This means that the Military Police on the Strip are limited to nonlethal cattle prods as well as combat knives. Outside the Strip, an MP trooper are usually armed with 10mm pistols.

Notes[]

Despite having their own distinct uniform, named members of the military police rarely wear it. No named members wear the MP trooper helmet, while Captain Pappas, Lieutenant Boyd, and Corporal Hornsby wear standard NCR armor, and Private Erwin wears a set of fatigues.[2]

Appearances[]

The New California Republic Military Police appear only in Fallout: New Vegas.

  2. The Courier: "Who are you?"
Carrie Boyd: "Not big on reading nametags, huh? That's okay, my name is long and difficult to pronounce. Ready for it? It's Boyd. Lieutenant Boyd to my friends. Colonel Hsu has me handling the policing duties for the base. I've told him he could make my job a whole lot easier if he would just let me shoot anyone who talks back to me, but you know how colonels can be."
