Change to inconsistency

If you listen to the dialog before you take the GOAT, you hear your father mentioning that there aren't many kids in the vault at all. Doesn't this go along with the fact that vault 101 was facing genetic stagnation and inbreeding etc? It's not really an error on the page.

It's possible, but my theory is since the purpose of the vault is for the overseer to have alot of power and be able to watch everyone all the time, that not many residents would want to partake in sexual intercourse either. I mean, not even the lone wanderer was born in the vault. - Bravo315

Merge

"Someone" does that by taking content from one page and putting it on another, the first is then considered having been "merged" into the second.
More seriously, you'd probably have to figure what makes sense to merge into what first, then create the appropriate summary articles and redirect the merged pages (similar to how I've done it for the FO3 armors). Framed quote

Yes. Go into the area where the main rebels are (i.e. where Amata is, the Vault 101 Clinic) and go into the room where Andy is (you will see him and lots of blood due to a botched surgery), and the safe is activated with the Book of Revelations quote (avg). Its next to the X-Ray viewer on the wall, above the table with the chem lab. Inside is caps, Rock-It Launcher Schematics, and the Home Sweet Home holotape from James.

Getting back into the Vault

Anyone know if there is a way to get back into Vault 101? I have almost all the bobbleheads but the one in that location?--BobbleHead 20:45, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Next time look a little harder. As the article says, "You only have three chances to obtain this bobblehead. Interior size

If you look at the poster advertising Vault 13, you'll see it is an incredibly large vault. Basically a town built inside a mountain. Vault 101, on the other hand, is very small. Like a town inside a hill. You can count how many living quarters are inside this vault, almost as if the vault was meant to house that small portion of people. Were the Vaults not intended to hold over a thousand people? If Vault 101 DID in fact hold that many to begin with, where are all the other living quarters that those people slept in? --FawkesGamer360 22:48, September 22, 2009 (UTC)

The overseer dead

I the overseers body in the sublevel of the vault after i sabotaged the vault and came back, is this a bug or was the overseer supposed to die? Two Layers

I noticed when screwing around as a ten year old, i went through some purposeply locked doors to the blue stuff (anyone know what i mean?) at which i jumped into it. after falling for 1-2 seconds it teleported me to the closest cell part, which happened to be the vault, but in panic, like during the quest "escape!". i couldn't find my way back to the 10 year old part either. so is there extra floors to the vault?202.78.155.235 07:59, December 13, 2009 (UTC)

Ok, I tried this asap after a new game. I walked around in tcl, but nothing special to see. Then I disabled tcl outside the cell, so I respawned, and I landed in the Escape! vault. There were some npc's around, but none of the important ones. With tcl I managed to travel to the vault door and walk out into the wastes, as a baby. My guess is the first few cells (before Escape!) are dummys, and only in Escape! you get teleported to the actual game cell. Fathers books?

The Fallout 3 official guild says the you can obtain your fathers books during the trouble in the homefront quest, but I have not been able to find them. Anyone know where they are or if they exist at all? —Preceding comment was unsigned. Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

Moved from article

I moved a lot of non-notable loot from the page. Please review Help:Notable Loot before adding loot to a page. I left it here because it is quite useful as a 'checklist' for a new character looking to strip their home bare before doing a runner.

Aid

  • Bobby Pin - Amata gives the Lone Wanderer 10 of these items for lockpicking the door to the Overseer's Office. 5 Bobby Pins are in a dresser located in Amata's bedroom. Six more are located in a storage room near the main entrance.
  • Med-X - 1 found in the first aid kit on your bedroom wall.
  • Purified Water - 3 bottles are located in a storage room near the Main Entrance.
  • Stimpak - 1 sitting on a rolling table in the clinic during "Future Imperfect" (disappears from your inventory after quest if unused), 10 in the first aid kit on your bedroom wall and 2 lying scattered about on the floor in the clinic during "Escape." The locker in the room where Amata is interrogated and the one in the overseer's office may also contain stimpaks.
  • Vodka - 3 bottles of Vodka are located in the DeLoria apartment.

Apparel

  • Vault 101 Jumpsuit - At least one in almost every dresser.
  • Vault 101 Utility Jumpsuit - One in the dresser in your apartment, one on the person of Floyd Lewis.
  • Vault 101 Security Armor - On the persons of security guards, and in two lockers in the room where Amata is interrogated.
  • Pre-War Baseball Cap - A gift from Stanley on your tenth birthday, appears in your dresser during "Escape," regardless of whether you spoke to Stanley during "Growing Up Fast."

Containers

These contain a variety of items. It's always a good idea to check each one. The desks in particular almost always contain pre-war money, and occasionally ammo of various kinds.

  • Desk - Overseer's Office (2), Security (2)
  • Dresser - Amata's Bedroom (1), DeLoria Bedroom (1), Lone Wanderer's Apartment (2), Overseer's Bedroom (1)
  • First Aid Box - Lone Wanderer's Apartment (1), Small Generator Room (Main Entrance) very easy lock (1)
  • Locker - Atrium (1), Clinic (2), Physician's Office (1), Overseer's Office (2), Security (4)
  • Metal Box - Clinic (1), Storage Room (Atrium) (1), Storage Room (Main Entrance) (3)
  • Toolbox - Clinic (1), Storage Room (Atrium) (1), Storage Room (Main Entrance) (2), Systems (1),


Custom Weapons Components

Some of these components may appear in the tool boxes located in various rooms of the Vault.

  • Conductor - Tool Box
  • Paint Gun - Tool Box
  • Sensor Module - Tool Box
  • Turpentine - There are 2 turpentines on a storage rack in the storage room adjacent to the Atrium.
  • Wonderglue - Tool Box

Quest Related Items

  • Scrap Metal - Scrap metal is located in a storage room adjacent to the Atrium and in a storage room near the main entrance. May also be found in a tool box. ("Treatment")


Weapons

  • N99 10mm pistol - Amata offers this weapon to the Lone Wanderer, in pristine condition. If the player accepts her offer, they receive this weapon and 36 10mm rounds. Additional pistols are with Officers O'Brian and Richards. Additional ammo for this pistol may be found in the dresser in the Overseer's bedroom, in a locker in the Overseer's Office, and in another locker in the room where Amata is interrogated.
  • Baseball Bat - This melee weapon is leaning against a table in the Lone Wanderer's bedroom, next to a baseball and glove.
  • BB Gun - This is a gift from Dad in "Growing Up Fast". The weapon comes with 50 BB's. During "Escape," it and the BBs will be sitting on the table next to the baseball bat.
  • Police Baton - This is carried by Vault 101 Security. The player can kill a guard for one. There are 6 or 7 batons, depending on if the player kills Officer Gomez.

Different lock level for the frame in James' Office?

My friend recently rented Fallout 3 GOTY for his PS3. I was at his house playing it, and I found the frame to have a "Very Hard" lock on it. On my laptop, I have Fallout 3 with all of the downloadable content, and the lock was average. Might this be a bug, or just a random glitch? Timmage 22:00, February 5, 2010 (UTC)


I think it has to do with how you set up your charecter (special stats, maybe even your tag skills). I noticed things like that aswell. Think I can pick the lock, but not all of a sudden it is hard, when in my past games they were average.GodsHand 14:42, March 11, 2010 (UTC)

Unique Weapons

What unique weapons can be obtained from Vault 101? I know of Butch's Toothpick, but I could have sworn I read about another one once, but I can't find anyyyy information on it anywhere, thanks to anyone that can help. StarfishCostume 15:30, February 7, 2010 (UTC)

Location of Vault 101 in real life.

Looking at google-map over Washington DC, I used some navigation-points (Annandale and Bethesda) to pinpoint the location of Vault 101. It seems to be located in what is called Pimmit Hills east of Tysons Corner. Draw a (more or less) direct line north from Annandale, then draw a line from Bethesda south-west using the ingame map of Fallout3 to see the orientation. The intersection is where Vault 101 is located. What are your thoughts on this?

Music

Does anybody know the names of the three songs that play over the Vault 101 PA system? I've found countless track listings for just about every other radio station BUT Vault 101. There is a youtube video of all three songs but no track list...

through the time line

I was playing the game from scratch, with the clipping off, when suddenly I walked into the grey space outside of the walls (at this point, I was at my birthday party, and 10 yrs old). after heading south a bit I saw that I was approaching another part of the vault. once I had arrived I saw that I was in the middle of Escape!. my character was still 10. this has led me to believe that during the time jumps the PC is jumped to a different section of the map. can someone else confirm?

maybe the another part of the vault is very far.

Cleanup

Just skimming through, there're chunks of the article written in poor english, notably "James's departure" and "Vault experiments crisis". Not necessary. Clean up it's not for poor english writting (sorry, It's me that write all the history section and my english it's not the best). Many pages are sometimes write in poor english, Vault 101 is not an exception. If you have the capacity to correct, please take the time to do so, it would be appreciated ;). Vault 101 still exists in New Vegas

In Console Commands, type in Coc Vault101a only little pieces are still left, there. It's exit is it's only bit left.

Plague of Second-Person

I've noticed that most of the articles about Vault 101's inhabitants have a very distinct voice/tone. The problem is that whoever wrote that way in the articles has always written in second-person and also had some other problems such as writing as if the reader is in Vault 101 (i.e. "these concrete walls" and "[these] glowing florescent lights". It would be very beneficial if just a few people could take some time to edit out some of these unneeded rhetorical devices from the text of the Vault 101 character pages.
