The police baton is a weapon in Fallout: New Vegas.

Characteristics[edit | edit source]

A weapon meant to keep order, used by long-gone police, it is now used by peacekeepers and trouble-makers alike. It projects a modest damage for a weapon that requires no skill or Strength to use effectively. It also has a relatively quick rate of attack, making it a fine choice for an early level Melee Weapons oriented player.

Its special V.A.T.S. attack is "Lights Out", which does 125% damage at the cost of 29 action points (requires a Melee skill of 50). Outside of V.A.T.S this can be used as a power attack by pressing forward while attacking. When used the player charges forward, jumps with the weapon raised above his/her head and strikes downward.

Bugs[edit | edit source]

  • PlayStation 3Icon ps3.png Stealing NCR Chief Hanlon's police baton out of his personal locker at the foot of his bed and going outside and dropping it then tossing it off the concrete ledge at the resort will always result in a system freeze and will require a hard shutdown.
  • Placing a police baton in your first weapons locker at your Lucky 38 presidential suite and then adding another one and then removing both will show there being two in the locker and 2 in your inventory but when the two in your locker are taken out it will show just the two in your inventory. (This bug does not affect anything as you do not get more police batons).
