You too, stranger. I know a lot of people around here don't take kindly to humans wandering around, but I've met a lot of your people in my travels.

Quinn is a friendly ghoul scavenger from the settlement of the Underworld in Fallout 3.

Background[]

A veteran of countless battles across the wastes, Quinn is a wandering ghoul trader who roams the blasted expanse of the former United States.[Non-game 1] He spends most of his time away from Underworld,[1] in his travels, he covered the entire East Coast, from The Pitt and the Commonwealth, through the Capital Wasteland, all the way down south to Crater Banks. His home is the Underworld, and Quinn is, in fact, its primary lifeline, moving goods and caps the ghouls possess out of the Underworld and bringing back whatever he can find.[2] He primarily delivers goods for Tulip,[Non-game 1] although he also brings pre-War alcohol for Ahzrukhal of The Ninth Circle[3] and Greta at Carol's Place (whisky distilled by a northern brewer is a perennial favorite),[4] [5] as well as sourcing various foodstuffs, like mutfruit.[6] Any ghoul can provide him with caps for trade, and he is, in fact, the third biggest recipient of caps after the Ninth Circle and Carol's Place.[7]

Although Quinn enjoys solitude and his long life taught him to distrust humans, he's a good judge of character and doesn't make rash judgments,[8][Non-game 1] and is impeccably polite.[9] Since Underworld doesn't get many human visitors, he makes the most of them,[10] offering a wealth of stories and gossip from the wastelands.[11][12][13] He is the primary source of news from the outside world for the ghouls, and shares them whenever he gets a chance to stop and sit down (which isn't too often).[14]

His stories aren't just gossip and random facts. Quinn keeps on top of happenings in the wasteland, especially the vicinity of the Mall.[15][16] On principle, he doesn't give information away for free.[17] Especially since he knows some unsavory facts about the other denizens of the Underworld: Quinn knows Crowley is running a scam, as the man tried to get Quinn to kill his three targets. Quinn turned the job down, as he met Dave during his travels, and is well aware that the self-styled president is no ghoul bigot.[18][Non-game 1]

  1. The Lone Wanderer: "What? You're not going to tell me how rare it is to see a human in Underworld?"
Quinn: "Me? No, not at all. I'm used to your people. Truth is, I spend most of my time away from Underworld."
    (Quinn's dialogue)
  2. The Lone Wanderer: "Travel? Where do you go?"
Quinn: "Oh, here and there and everywhere. I've explored all up and down the coast, from the Commonwealth, to the Pitt, all the way down to Crater Banks. I also do a fair bit of trading. You see, folks here, they don't have much of a connection to the outside. So I move their goods and caps out to the Wastes and bring back in what I trade for 'em."
    (Quinn's dialogue)
  3. Ahzrukhal: "How's everything? Enjoying your drinks?" or "Yes, yes, how is everyone doing? Everything alright? Do you need anything else?"
9th Circle patron: "It's great! This must be that stuff that Quinn brought back."

  7. The Lone Wanderer: "What do you do with the money you make down here?"
Tulip: "Well... we spend it at Carol's. Or the Ninth Circle, but I don't like it there. The rest we give to Quinn to trade for stuff we need whenever he goes out."
    (Tulip's dialogue)
  8. The Lone Wanderer: "Nice to meet you, Quinn."
Quinn: "You too, stranger. I know a lot of people around here don't take kindly to humans wandering around, but I've met a lot of your people in my travels."

  9. Quinn: "Oh, why hello there. Pleasure to meet you! I'm Quinn."

  11. Quinn: "Oh, hello, my boy! You've come back for more stories from ol' Quinn, have you?"
  12. Quinn: "Oh, hello, my girl! You've come back for more stories from ol' Quinn, have you?"
  13. Quinn: "Do you want to hear a story about the Wastes?"
  14. Underworld resident: "Quinn, no one told me you were back!" or "Hey, Quinn." or "Quinn..."
Quinn: "Hey, hello! I just got back! Good to see you!" or "Remind me to sit you down and tell you about some of the things that I've seen." or "I'm back! And you wouldn't believe some of the things that happened to me this time. But I can't talk now. Maybe later?" or "Hey there, long time, no see! I've got some good stories to tell you later!"

  16. The Lone Wanderer: "Is the Lincoln Memorial around here somewhere?"
Quinn: "Yeah. Just east of here. Some freed slaves just occupied it. We trade with them occasionally."
(Quinn's dialogue) Note: This is the line spoken should the player have completed the quest Head of State by siding with the Abolitionists.
  17. The Lone Wanderer: "Why should I have to pay for gossip?"
Quinn: "I don't give away anything for free. Besides, its obviously worth something to you."
    (Quinn's dialogue)
  18. 18.0 18.1 The Lone Wanderer: "So, what's that Mister Crowley up to?"
Quinn: "I might know something interesting, if you're willing to pay for it."
The Lone Wanderer: "Oh look! I dropped these 50 caps in your pocket..."
Quinn: "Very funny. Crowley has some scam going where he's going to get rich. He tried to get me to kill these three guys, but I wouldn't do it. I've met Dave, and he's no more of a Ghoul bigot than I am."
    (Quinn's dialogue)
  19. The Lone Wanderer: "How about I don't. How about you just tell me."
Quinn: "Okay! Okay! No need to get upset. Crowley is running some sort of scam. He tried to get me to kill some wastelanders, but I wouldn't do it. Dave is one of them. I've met Dave, and he's mighty strange, but he's no bigot. He doesn't hate Ghouls any more than I do."
    (Quinn's dialogue)

Quinn is a wanderer, a loner more used to traversing the Wasteland than sitting around and chatting in this place, but he's here to provide trade and supplies to Tulip, and make sure she's okay. Used to interaction with humans, he has learned not to trust them, but he's a good judge of character. Don't think he's a pushover; he's a highly skilled combat veteran of countless raids across the Wasteland."
