Radiation (Fallout 2)
|For a lore overview, see Radiation.|
Radiation is a rare environmental hazard in Fallout 2. Exposure to it can cause a status effect called Radiated at 66 rads, which carries with it a variety of deleterious effects.
Overview[edit | edit source]
- The player accumulates radiation as a result of exposure to its sources. These sources are few and far in between, with the bulk of them being golden geckos, aliens, and centaurs, as well as the occasional consumption of fruit or the misfortune of landing in the toxic waste dump. Rad-X limits the accumulation of rads, while RadAway can be used to manage radiation exposure after collecting them.
- The player character will die if any of the stats drops to 0. The game only checks for death at the moment the relevant message is displayed, which is always some time after exposure, so it's possible to stay alive with drugs and continue to play the game as normal. Stats will return to normal after 7 days.
- The player can elect to gain Vault City Inoculations to permanently boost their character's radiation resistance.
