Template:Fallout 3 NPC overhaul project
Red (Fallout 3) is the only doctor and merchant residing in Big Town in 2277.
Background
Red moved to Big Town when she became too old to stay in Little Lamplight.
Big Town has been under attack from super mutants who captured her, so she will not be around at first. To retrieve her and the other survivor, Shorty (in order to complete Big Trouble in Big Town), you must travel to the Germantown police headquarters where she is imprisoned.
Once freed from the super mutants, Red will resume selling medical supplies in Big Town.

Quests
- Big Trouble in Big Town: Red is being held captive in the Germantown Police Station, and you are asked to go rescue her.
- Strictly Business: Red is one of the targets for enslavement identified by Eulogy Jones. Grouse refers to her as that "hot doctor chick" from Bigtown.
Effects of player actions
Once rescued you can escort her back to town. If you ask for a reward she may give you up to 300 caps. You can get 200 more if your Speech skill is high enough, but you will lose karma. At this point she will tell you that another Super Mutant attack is coming.
In a subsequent interaction, if you healed Timebomb, Red will state that even though you are a better doctor than she is she will heal you for free from now on. She will say that although he won't be able to fight for a while, that he should make a full recovery. Curiously, she will say that even if Timebomb has been killed in a Super Mutant attack before you get this dialog option.
Other interactions
Once you begin escorting Red to Big Town, she becomes a companion until you arrive in Big Town. She will use aid items (Stimpaks) if given any, but only during combat. She will not, however, automatically heal after combat, and she doesn't often use her Stimpaks, even when severely injured. She is not much of a fighter and has low hit points.

Notes
- Like Shorty, Red can serve as a pack mule and remains with the Lone Wanderer up until she is returned to Big Town. Red can only provide fire support if properly equipped (e.g. Power Armor and a Chinese Assault Rifle).
- It is possible to equip Red with 3-5 stimpaks and upon losing enough hp (50% or less), Red will heal herself.
- Properly equipping Red with a spray-n-pray weapon, e.g. a Minigun or a Gatling laser, helps with covering fire and almost always mows down any enemy attempting to get close to her.
Bugs
If you enslaved Red in accordance with the quest Strictly Business, she can be found in the slave house at Paradise Falls. This is located behind the locked gate, just past the brahmin. Eulogy and Forty have the key in their inventory and it is also on a table by some empty whiskey bottles in Eulogy's Pad. If all the slavers are killed and Red is freed from the collar, she will return to Big Town, (if they are not killed before you free Red, they will gun her down as she attempts to leave). Red will not speak to the Lone Wanderer thereafter. A dialogue box appears thanking you for the rescue, but no other options are available, including her healing talents or medical supply inventory.
Appearances
Red (Fallout 3) only appears in Fallout 3.
