Diamond City residents (simply known as residents in-game) are the inhabitants of Diamond City in 2287.
Background[]
Before Mayor McDonough took office, Diamond City was settled by unmutated humans and ghouls. Under his "Mankind for McDonough" platform, the new mayor vowed to remove all ghoul residents living in the city. This won him the election because the human residents were growing to resent their ghoulish neighbors. New legislation was soon passed outlawing them from city limits and the remaining ghoul residents were evicted soon after.
Nowadays, the only residents living in Diamond City are humans, because events such as the Broken Mask incident has led to them developing a strong sentiment against synths and the Institute, who are rumored to kidnap people and replace them with artificial duplicates to spy on civilization in the Commonwealth. As such, the residents of Diamond City are very fearful of the Institute, making them very suspicious of their surroundings.
