By Richard Milhous Nixon and his mother! I don't know what practices you tribespeople follow in your dens of iniquity, but in New Reno, things are changing! We are a CIVILIZED people!Ethyl Wright

Richard Milhous Nixon was a president of the United States of America.[1]

Background[]

In the real world, Nixon was the 37th president of the United States, in office from 1969 to 1974. He was previously the vice president during Dwight D. Eisenhower's presidency, after which he ran for office himself against John F. Kennedy in 1960. Nixon's nickname was Tricky Dick because of his morally questionable actions.

However, in the Fallout world, he was so popular that Mr. Nixon dolls can still be found after the Great War and Ethyl Wright uses his name as an exclamation. The Mr. Nixon Doll gives advice that it is "best to lie."[2][3]

Notes[]

The athlete exam at the Pioneer Scout camp lists Nixon as an incorrect answer to which U.S. president had a reputation as a wrestler.[1]

Appearances[]

Richard Nixon is mentioned in Fallout 2 and in the Fallout 76 update Wild Appalachia. An excerpt from a speech by Richard Nixon can also be heard in the Fallout Tactics intro.

Behind the scenes[]

  • It is unknown, given Fallout's Divergence from the real world timeline, if the details of his presidency and later life are the same in the game timeline as they were in our own. Nixon may have even served as president at a different time or have never been Eisenhower's vice president.
  • The Environmental Protection Agency was signed into existence by Nixon in our timeline, but it is unknown if this was also the case in the Fallout universe.
