Archive issues

Are you experience issues with the archive function too? --Skire (talk) 00:30, August 17, 2012 (UTC)

Why can't the template be fixed? Have you been doing it manually since your 10th archive? --Skire (talk) 00:36, August 17, 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, it's not too hard, I was just curious =) And by the way, do you think we should create a page for "Bittercup Runneth Over" (unmarked quest)? It's a quest like any other and deserves its own page rather than being redirected to the character around whom it is centred. --Skire (talk) 00:44, August 17, 2012 (UTC)
Alright I'll get working on the page. And thanks for the page, I didn't see that the first time around XD --Skire (talk) 01:07, August 17, 2012 (UTC)

A thank you

Js, you definitely deserve this userbox. If it was not for you, this wiki would have died because of the split. I give you this because you are the most important user we have in here and I hope you're going to stay here for a long time, and we really need more people as dedicated as you are.

Yup, pretty snazzy. I wish I could afford the luxury of buying all the add-ons for PC, but it's a bit pricey. I appreciate the time you took making the models; thanks buddy. --Kastera (talk) 03:30, August 17, 2012 (UTC)

Can you jump into chat again? I missed you last time. D: (Was distracted talking with Chad and Sigma through PM.) Dragon Leon Skål! 19:07, August 17, 2012 (UTC)

Hey, you (Garoux) said you were going to talk to Jspoel so you ended our PM! ;) --Skire (talk) 19:53, August 17, 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, that was the original plan. And right when I was sending a message to J, - Since he had gotten on during the time we were talking. - he decided to leave. :P Anyways, I'm back now, if you have the time to jump in again. Dragon Leon Skål! 20:20, August 17, 2012 (UTC)

Patroller Application

Hey Jspoel! I'd like to apply for the position of patroller and these are the reasons why...I've been active on this wiki for 3 months while the requirement is only 1, I have 300 edits on articles (the requirement is only 250), and I have a major contribution to the site as in creating and helping maintain the page Edward Rutledge on behalf of the Logical History project. I have a deep understanding of the notable loot guidelines, supported by many of my edits, and of assorted wiki guidelines like the capitalization policy. I also pride myself on almost always including an edit summary on any edit revisions, a quality even some admin's lack. And finally, one of my most frequented time slots (11PM-1AM EST) is often without users with rollback. Thanks for any consideration! USA Flag Pre-War User Avatar talk 19:37, August 17, 2012 (UTC)

Thank you so much! I won't let you down! USA Flag Pre-War User Avatar talk 19:50, August 17, 2012 (UTC)

Caravan guards.

Hi! I'm having trouble with this page Caravan guard (Fallout: New Vegas). There's 6 different NPCs by this name (look for 0015e48e in the GECK), and all of them have different stats. Stats which currently on the page is a mixture of Rose of Sharon Cassidy and some other unknown ingridients! So i can't decide, either place 6 sets of stats on the page either blank the infobox. Can i have your ruling on this? --Theodorico (talk) 01:56, August 18, 2012 (UTC)

I strongly encourage you not to read the following text as doing so may cause headache!

Unluckily, everything is much more complicated. "Real" NPC is the "LvlCrimsonCaravanGuard" (formid 0015e48a) which inherits all properties form it's Actor Base, which is LVLN "VarCrimsonCaravanGuard" (formid 0015e48e), which contains 6 possible candidates: "CrimsonCaravanGuardAAMTemplate" (000ed4d1), "CrimsonCaravanGuardAAF", ..., "CrimsonCaravanGuardHF". Short version: Real guards are being selected from the list and can be ANY of them, and "CrimsonCaravanGuardAAMTemplate" (000ed4d1) is only one of possibilities. --Theodorico (talk) 03:59, August 18, 2012 (UTC)

You know, something just clicked in my brain... think, i know how to visualise these "templated" npcs. I'll do some additional programming, to handle LVLN layer and will submit a full-scale specimen. --Theodorico (talk) 16:16, August 18, 2012 (UTC)

Traveling Merchants

Hey, J! Just wanted to let you know that you can find that information properly mentioned here. Dragon Leon Skål! 20:34, August 18, 2012 (UTC)

Saintpain

Its actually his 4th (valid) chatban. The user rights log shows chatbans in July 2011, September 2011, and March 2012. He has been getting the benefit of the doubt a lot too as I'm never quite sure what it is he's trying to say. Agent c (talk) 21:04, August 18, 2012 (UTC)

Hey J, with Saint, we gave him multiple chances to correct his attitude and behavior in chat. Mods constantly let him slip away with stuff he shouldn't, as we give him the benefit of the doubt. As for today, he crossed the line refusing to end a dispute between him and a few others about his behavior, and ultimately he didn't so he was banned. Detroit lions Hawk da Barber 2012 - BSHU Graduate 21:08, August 18, 2012 (UTC)
Before this gets out of hand, why don't we present chat logs so we can all see for ourselves? An indefinite chat ban is a very serious matter and should be issued with only the utmost certainty that it is necessary. --Skire (talk) 21:11, August 18, 2012 (UTC)
If I may add my side, there were five of us that talked over this ban and decided it was necessary. Those people being Agent c, Dragonborn96, ToCxHawK, and RamboRob. All of us determined that the ban was just. As for an infinite ban, it was made infinite because this was his fourth offense. VictorFaceMonitor Victor the Insane Cowboy Robot 21:25, August 18, 2012 (UTC)

Log of today's kick by me, and the decision to upgrade to a ban. Agent c (talk)
If i may, i also agree what Pain did was wrong and he deserves the perma-chat-ban. User:Dead Gunner

J and I are reading the logs now, so enough of this argumentum ad populum please. --Skire (talk) 21:50, August 18, 2012 (UTC)
At the risk of sounding rude, it's not really your place to make such bold statements, Dead Gunner. Leave the personal opinions to yourself, before they exasperate things. Dragon Leon Skål! 21:54, August 18, 2012 (UTC)
As its Vic's ban, its not my call... But he does get an awful lot of chances as it is. Agent c (talk) 22:01, August 18, 2012 (UTC)
Personally, I don't believe exceptions should be made just because we like certain people's contributions. And on the same subject as that, a chat ban doesn't involve his editing contributions in the slightest. He can still contribute to the main wiki if he so chooses, this ban has no bearing on edits. VictorFaceMonitor Victor the Insane Cowboy Robot 22:15, August 18, 2012 (UTC)

(Js, I had the chat window open all day, so I was able to go back and read everything that happened regarding this situation. I'd like to offer my comments:

  1. Vic's initial kick for spamming song lyrics was correct in my view. He has been warned about this very thing in the past (I recall "in the ghetto" being the lyric).
  2. The 2nd kick was a moderator's judgement call. I would agree that he had been testing the mods' patience all day. My position would be to back the moderator on the spot's decision.
  3. Upgrading to a ban based on the two incidences is also a moderator's judgement call. Again, I'll defer to the guys on the spot. He had been a problem more than once during the day.

As for the length of the ban, let me list all of his chat bans:

  1. 18:15, 13 July 2011 An unknown anonymous user (Talk | block) changed group membership for User:SaintPain from (none) to Banned from chat (Kick/banned from the chat for this wiki by GhostAvatar. Please contact them for more info.) Served 1 day.
  2. 00:53, 29 September 2011 An unknown anonymous user (Talk | block) changed group membership for User:SaintPain from (none) to Banned from chat (Kick/banned from the chat for this wiki by Cartman!. Please contact them for more info.) Served 8 hours.
  3. 10:48, 16 March 2012 Agent c (Talk | contribs | block) changed group membership for User:SaintPain from (none) to Banned from chat (Kick/banned from the chat for this wiki by Agent c. Please contact them for more info.) Served 3 weeks.
  4. 22:38, 26 June 2012 GhostAvatarBot (Talk | contribs | block) banned SaintPain (Talk | contribs | block) from chat with an expiry time of 1 day, ends 22:38, 27 June 2012 (Misbehaving in chat) Served 1 day.
  5. 23:12, 16 August 2012 Agent c (Talk | contribs | block) banned SaintPain (Talk | contribs | block) from chat with an expiry time of 1 week, ends 23:12, 23 August 2012 (Misbehaving in chat) Agent c reconsidered and removed the ban.
  6. 16:34, 18 August 2012 Victor the Securitron (Talk | contribs | block) banned SaintPain (Talk | contribs | block) from chat with an expiry time of infinite, ends 15:34, 20 December 3011 (multiple violations, mostly rules 1, 7, 8, 9 and 10.)

So, as far as I can tell, SaintPain has been banned from chat a total of 6 times. He served, 1 day, 8 hours, 3 weeks, 1 day, none and now infinite. I guess the mods/admins who banned him decided to use their judgement and went against recommended policy in all cases. Were policy followed to the letter, Ghost's ban in June would have been his 4th, and therefore infinite, ban. It seems to me the entire admin/mod team has been giving Saint the benefit of the doubt for quite some time. His record stands for itself, but my question is how much more leeway should any user be given? I agree that an indefinite ban is drastic, so I'm open to using our judgement on this, but that begs the questions of does SaintPain derserve it, and also what kind of precedent does this set for future bans on other users. Discipline should be fair AND consistent. I'm sure we'll all defer to you, Clyde's and Ghost's judgement on this. I just wanted to make sure you had all the pertinent facts. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 02:25, August 19, 2012 (UTC)

All the bans were for cause. I was there for the last 3 and I checked the others before added them to the list. He was also warned twice, once by Ghost and again by Chad just the other day, that the next one would be infinite. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 03:14, August 19, 2012 (UTC)

Solution

I went ahead and removed that note from the Wolfhorn Ranch article page, and I re-wrote, and then moved it to its proper page under the Fallout: New Vegas random encounters article page. I hope these actions of mine are to your liking. The information is also still mentioned on the traveling merchants article page. Dragon Leon Skål! 22:06, August 18, 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, I can understand that. Sometimes, these notes really bother me, though. For instance, in this case, that overpass is closer to Novac, instead of the Wolfhorn Ranch. Glad you approve though. Looking at the random encounters article page, it looks like it's missing a lot of content. I'm going to have to sit down and see about writing in some more. (Too bad they're not as many or as awesome as the ones in Fallout 3.) Dragon Leon Skål! 22:23, August 18, 2012 (UTC)

Leveled characters

Well i managed to slap something together.User:Theodorico/sandbox05 Please let me know, what are you thinking about this. --Theodorico (talk) 00:24, August 19, 2012 (UTC)

Hi! I've updated my sandbox User:Theodorico/sandbox05 . Can i go with the min-max notation, or maybe you have something better on your mind? --Theodorico (talk) 19:52, August 19, 2012 (UTC)
I think, that the best way will be to make a guide or a policy on how to handle a leveled characters. Clearly, we don't want to put 18 photos/stats/skills/inventories on a page! So we must find a way, to provide useful information, without littering pages. And i'm not completely happy with my own approach - min-max ranges,as this could lead to a meaningless values like 1-10 ST or Guns 20-100... Maybe this means some kind of overhaul, i dont know as i'm very new to wiki editing (i've dropped my jaw seeing how you moved the caravan guard page). Ok, i'll contact Ghost Avatar about this matter. Meanwhile, maybe you can use your immense wiki knowledge, to find a way, how to put such inhomogeneous information in it (forget about the numbers, i'll take care of them). --Theodorico (talk) 21:59, August 19, 2012 (UTC)
Damn! Why exactly we don't want a page with 18 photos?! Maybe we are! A separate page, exclusively dedicated to the appearances of a character, with a table containing all photos, stats, levels, e.t.c.... I'll make a draft! --Theodorico (talk) 22:32, August 19, 2012 (UTC)

Pigeon image

Yeah, it kind of got out of hand. Sigma asked me to change the name to User_Denis517, but didn't know how. Then I just added a copy with a different name, and then it got deleted for some reason, so I made another. Anyway, I'll use the image.

Hiya, Js! Just thought I'd stop by and let you know that Cc99910's chat mod request is finished, and a 'crat is needed to make it official. Thanks! ~ Toci ~ Go ahead, make my day. 13:56, August 21, 2012 (UTC)

Sugar Bombs

Why do people even bother vandalization like this? Whats the point? They should know by now it wont stay up, people watch this wiki like hawks. Is there some sort of sick kick they get from throwing the word "poop" in a couple random places? Its so pointlessly idiotic. Sorry about all this just needed to rant to someone about it. TheShotgunShogun (talk) 19:36, August 22, 2012 (UTC)

I know I make it a point to watch those recent edits, and I don't spend nearly as much time here as many people do, patrolling for these vandals. It just seems as though they're working against such insurmountable odds, its pointless to try, yet they still do. *sigh* TheShotgunShogun (talk) 02:12, August 23, 2012 (UTC)

Older unique weapons

No problem. I remember when we did the categories for them there weren't too many, but that'll just make adding the pages even easier. I'll look into it tonight. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 19:43, August 22, 2012 (UTC)

User rights

I was just wondering if I could ask you something. While I know it's possible to do, has anyone actually gone straight from a patroller to an administrator? I don't plan on applying, especially not any time soon, but I'm not really into the chat, so I don't think I'll be that useful as a moderator.

Oh, and while I'm here, can you block 92.251.250.168 for this vandalism? Paladin117>>iff bored; 00:44, August 23, 2012 (UTC)

Hi J =) Can I ask why you deleted my move of Denis' signature image to "File:User_Denis517.png" instead of "File:Pigeon Approved!.png" which is directly contrary to long-standing policy? --Skire (talk) 17:04, August 23, 2012 (UTC)

Hi J,

Apprentice Week 2's entries are collected here. If you want to leave your thoughts and discretely pass me your rankings (not sure how late I'll be in chat, but I plan to leave it open to take PMs, or you can email me if you still have my address) I'll get the next blog up. Thanks again for being a part of it. Agent c (talk) 23:42, August 23, 2012 (UTC)

Hey J, have you had a chance to rank the entries yet? George/Lizzunchbox is joining us and I'm just waiting on your part, alternatively if you want to skip this time, thats cool. Thanks Agent c (talk) 16:34, August 25, 2012 (UTC)

WRK

Hi J. Could you confirm in the GECK the amount of fixed locations for weapon repair kits? It seems the ignorance is taking a toll as they are being removed from pages. Thanks a lot =) --Skire (talk) 13:47, August 24, 2012 (UTC)

As far as I remember, they are actually not that common to be found on vendors, but their parts may be (especially with Vendortron). And if the FO3 bottlecap mine is on the list, then I think this one would be fitting too. --Skire (talk) 16:22, August 24, 2012 (UTC)

Temporary Insanity

Thanks for catching that. Must have had a brain fart, as I was thinking that the image looked like a custom job. Completely forgot that I had been editing an article page for a weapon modification, so I didn't even check if it was just highlighting certain parts to make the mods stand out. Don't worry though, now that I know the deal, I rather like the images used. :) Dragon Leon Skål! 15:36, August 24, 2012 (UTC)

Templates

Surprisingly enough, this is all just to make an extended nav-box available here at Nukapedia. As for the red links, I am systematically going to go through them once I've added everything needed. I won't create any extra work for you. :) Dragon Leon Skål! 00:01, August 25, 2012 (UTC)

Done. There should no longer be any red links concerning the templates and custom CSS that I just added. Dragon Leon Skål! 00:07, August 25, 2012 (UTC)
Can you link me to an example? I'm looking through maintenance, and everything seems to be checking out for me. (There does seem to be a weird glitch though. One of the re-direct links is showing up as a red-link, yet clicking it still takes you to the proper page.) Dragon Leon Skål! 00:18, August 25, 2012 (UTC)
How odd. Maybe you need to preform a hard refresh upon your internet browser. I know IE tends to be a little... slow with certain matters. Anyways, I created the categories necessary, and they are all showing up as proper links. No red-links on my end. Dragon Leon Skål! 00:35, August 25, 2012 (UTC)

I feel like an idiot. Please accept my apologies, and I will move to rectifying these issues now. Dragon Leon Skål! 01:13, August 25, 2012 (UTC)

I felt like they needed their own categories, since they were copied straight from the Templates Wiki. If you feel otherwise, I will merge them with other existing category listings. Dragon Leon Skål! 01:35, August 25, 2012 (UTC)
