Salem is a coastal city ruin in Essex County, Massachusetts.

Background

Before the Great War, Salem was a cozy coastal town and seaport, made into a tourist destination by the infamous witch trials of 1692. The town is avoided by most wastelanders these days on account of the nearby presence of Gunners, Children of Atom and mirelurks. The last organized group of settlers fell prey to the latter, wiped out by the crabs. The last surviving member of the militia, Barney Rook, is holed up in the Rook Family House, with a network of turrets to protect himself with.[1]

Layout

This ruined town has several locales, including: the Museum of Witchcraft and Sandy Coves Convalescent Home to the southwest; Salem Church and abandoned market stalls in the center of town; a Drumlin's Diner to the south, the pier and several boathouse to the east; and the Rook family house to the northeast.

Notable loot

  • A Fat Man is on the upper floor of Rook Military Surplus on the west side of town, on the bottom of the shelves.
  • A mini nuke is found on the shelf of the metal table in the steeple of Salem Church.

Appearances

Salem appears only in Fallout 4 and is mentioned in the Fallout 3 add-on Mothership Zeta.

Once a quaint coastal town and seaport, this tourist destination was infamous for its witch trials of 1692. Nowadays the population has dwindled considerably due to Gunner activity in the area, the crazies worshipping a radiation crater down the road, and the large number of mating Mirelurks in the waters all around the bay. Proceed at your own risk."
