It provides a damage threshold of 4 as well as +2 bonus to critical chance and +5 bonus to Sneak. It can be repaired with combat helmets. The headwear consists of a gray security helmet with an ornate tribal headdress secured around it by a brown bandana. The helmet is coated in chalk, and the design of a skull adorns its visor. The headdress is formed from the mandible of a bighorner or similar animal, decorated with tribal markings and feathers. Strands of spent shotgun shells trail from under the bandana down the back of the neck.
If you chose to fight Salt-Upon-Wounds, you can take his helmet then, but it will not appear in the footlocker afterwards.
By using the same method to obtain two copies of Salt-Upon-Wounds' power fist, one can obtain two helmets. To do this, you will take the helmet or power fist off his person, drop it, retrieve it from the footlocker (after the cut-scene), then go back to where you dropped it, and pick it up for your second copy.
