"Smitty" is the blacksmith[1] of Adytum in Fallout.

Background[edit | edit source]

A large, muscular man,[2] Smitty has learned his trade the hard way: Through practice. He created his own tools and continues to refine his craft,[3] being one of the primary drivers of Adytum's light industry. With the help of Miles, he reloads old casings, manufacturing ammunition.[4] However, he lacks the facilities to manufacture new brass, as that requires machining.[5] Although he is the town Smith he doesn't actually sell his products directly, instead selling them to Tine Taylor and the various Hub merchants for goods.[6]

Interestingly, Smitty has picked up a few tricks for working on P94 plasma casters, primarily the matter injectors.[7] By 2281, his technique of hotwiring the plasma formation chamber spread through the wastes and Smitty Special custom-made casters can be bought from the Gun Runners.
