“When you're deep in enemy territory, you just start chucking grenades and hope for the best. All Explosives have a 25% larger area of effect when they detonate.”— In-game description.
Splash Damage is a perk in Fallout: New Vegas.
Effects[]
Taking this perk grants a 25% bonus to the area-of-effect when using explosives, i.e. multiple enemies can be damaged/killed with a single explosive when possible.
Notes[]
- The perk improves the usefulness of cheap and plentiful explosives, like dynamite and powder charges, which have a comparatively small blast radius.
- The Hit the Deck, Adamantium Skeleton and/or the Tough Guy perks synergize well with the increased radius that this perk brings, as the risk of self-inflicted damage increases.
- The Heave, Ho! perk can likewise be helpful in increasing the range when utilizing launchers, e. g. a Fat Man with Big Kid ammunition.
Behind the scenes[]
"Splash damage" is commonly used in video game terminology to refer to damage that is dealt in an area around a target proportional to the distance to the target, much like how a liquid when splashed affects a wider area.[1]
Bugs[]
This perk is bugged, because it has no set value in the GECK.[verified]
- This issue has been resolved with the release of Patch 1.3.0.452.
