Quotes

Hi! I see you're doing quite a bit of work on the quotations project. Since you're in the business, would you mind finding another interesting quote for Usanagi? The current one is only under certain conditions that are not too common and don't accurately reflect personality, so I think it would be better for another one to take its place at the top of the article. Thanks! --Skire (talk) 23:20, July 13, 2012 (UTC)

I removed one from the notable quotes section since it was essentially a reiteration of something mentioned in the background section already. Other than that, they're great. Thanks. --Skire (talk) 12:00, July 14, 2012 (UTC)

Help with the quotes

Do you play Fallout 3?If you do can you lend me a hand? I'm starting with the FO3 locations quotations project, so if you can help me because there are lots of articles. MatkoBoS (talk) 10:00, July 15, 2012 (UTC)

Okay then. If you need help with NV just ask. MatkoBoS (talk) 13:28, July 15, 2012 (UTC)

Alexis

Oops... I must have been mistaken. Looking now, it's also on Dead Sea's page (and I don't think he says it either), so your edit was correct. My mistake; please change it back and do the same to Dead Sea if you don't mind. --Kastera (talk) 19:20, July 15, 2012 (UTC)

Hounds

You changed it to Dogs. I was changing it back to hounds, which is the proper word.----Pipboy t shirt design by thecoconu SCorp 21:10, July 15, 2012 (UTC)

Yeah... No. It looks right to me.

Pipboy t shirt design by thecoconu SCorp 21:24, July 15, 2012 (UTC)

It says hounds.... And, where can I find this GECK. Thanks. ---- Pipboy t shirt design by thecoconu SCorp 22:04, July 15, 2012 (UTC)

Can you tell me where I will be able to find the GECK that you go by, or not? `---- Pipboy t shirt design by thecoconu SCorp 22:15, July 15, 2012 (UTC)

Re:Quotes

Quotations are quotations. There's no problem in a certain quotation containing a large amount of expletives. It's a site for rated-M games and so readers should be expected to be mature too. Remember to sign your posts =) --Skire (talk) 20:33, July 20, 2012 (UTC)

If there's nothing unique that a certain character says, just put No in the progress table. There's no point in including a generic protectron quote. --Skire (talk) 21:23, July 22, 2012 (UTC)

Marked Men

They are a race. It has been formally discussed before and that was the consensus reached by the community. --Skire (talk) 22:13, July 24, 2012 (UTC)

It's strange, maybe no one ever found this out in the GECK. Where does it explicitly state that they are ghouls? --Skire (talk) 01:48, July 25, 2012 (UTC)

Quote request

Hey. You seem to be doing an excellent job with quotes, so could you find one about the Cloud for me and put it on the page? --Skire (talk) 21:22, July 26, 2012 (UTC)

I've already added that quote to the Cloud page. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 16:04, July 27, 2012 (UTC)

New User Network

Hi Theodorico, Welcome to Nukapedia, and to the New User Network. Looks like you've been doing some good edits so far, thanks for your contributions.

So we can help pair you to the ideal mentor for you, can you please let us know what times you're likely to be on the wiki, which games you prefer, and any specialist interest areas you have, you can do so on my talk page.

Thanks again!

Agent c (talk) 21:27, July 26, 2012 (UTC)

Great... Looks like you've got some knowledge already and are quite eager. We're going to pair you with Jspoel, and he should be by shortly to say hi. Agent c (talk) 23:23, July 26, 2012 (UTC)
Hi. I'm your mentor for the time to come. Hope we can get some good things going. I read some of your qualifications on Agent c's page with some interesting things. What level of CSS programming do you have and how well can you work with templates? And can you program a bot? Jspoel Speech Jspoel 13:01, July 27, 2012 (UTC)

( Hey sounds pretty good. What comes to my mind is that we have some inconsistency in the infobox colors. Most have the new color yellow, but some of them still have the old color green, like the perk pages. It's something our template/css wizard Porter21 was working on (see: Forum:New_infoboxes for the forum/progress) when he left to Curse in November last year. So that got left hanging so to speak. The perk template and a few more templates could also do with a little rework. And it would be nice if you could dig up some bot knowledge. I think Porter is using Pywikipedia too. Myself, I'm more of a hardcore editor and am not able to handle these things at the moment. Take a look at it and if you have some other good ideas on improving the (appearance of) the wiki, let me hear. About the wiki-markup, you can see some markup codes when you click on the arrow down on below 'more'. Try them out in a sandbox (see your user talkpage how to create one) or you can also browse the pages to see how they work. Or you can search on google to pick up a few things. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 15:38, July 27, 2012 (UTC)

If you're able to pull a something off, especially with those infoboxes, you'd climb the ladder fast here :) Porter leaving was a big loss for us and we can use a man with similar skills. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 21:50, July 27, 2012 (UTC)

Table

Why are there X's? There should never be any X's on a progress table. Also, if you CHECKED for one and added one, then both should be filled. Every checked for quote should be filled because whether or not you had to add one, you had to check. Correct? Check off that you added a quote even if you didn't. It lets us know that there is a quote there and you are credited with finding it. Fix these and that will be fine. Thanks. ~ Toci ~ Go ahead, make my day. 06:22, July 30, 2012 (UTC)

I know I sound like a total Nazi, but only add your name to something you've completed. Add a check anywhere your name is. Other than that, it's fine. ~ Toci ~ Go ahead, make my day. 06:40, July 30, 2012 (UTC)
Yerp. ~ Toci ~ Go ahead, make my day. 06:57, July 30, 2012 (UTC)

Hi, Jspoelstra! Well, i'm back. I've got a bad news and a good news. Bad news: Evidently, i'm not the Porter22. Remaking of infoboxes requires an expert (if not genius) level of knowledge on wiki templates, and my knowledge of css doesn't help, cause css's share in infobox is like 0,5%... So this task goes as a landmark for the future. I need to start from the basics here. Good news: As for the bots, everything looks slightly better. I've made my self one, really simple- it takes pages from a category, then checks them for a quotes and then builds a table with results. You can check it's output here - User:Theodorico/sandbox01 Not bad for a starters, i think. So, bots are definitly doable for me, with a practise, of course. I have an idea for the next bot, but before i'll start, i need to know, what are local rules for a bot deployment? (Yes, i know that i'm gonna need an account for a bot.) --Theodorico (talk) 19:32, July 30, 2012 (UTC)

Rusty Hooks

Rusty Hooks had a move protection on it, that's all. I removed it, it will be ok I think. Pretty good work with that bot, to be honest I didn't know you could do what you did with that table just using your regular account. Thought it was needed to create a seperate bot-account like you already mention (I can flag it as a bot). If you have ideas of botwork that's affecting our wikis pages I'd like to know what they are and the edits should be monitored anyway. Think you understand I want to be careful, you are a new user so I'm not sure what your skills are at the moment. So you can create a bot, I'll flag it and let me know what your plans are. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 20:35, July 31, 2012 (UTC)

Hey that's a good one for the bot, changing quote to quotation which is the actual template. You can go ahead with that one. If you need bot rights, let me know! Jspoel Speech Jspoel 21:36, July 31, 2012 (UTC)

Bot

Looks fine to me, Theodorico. Don't really have remarks for now. You can create a bot account (TheodoricoBot would be best). When you've done that, notify me and I will flag it as a bot. Monitor its progress when you start it, but I have faith not too much will go wrong, looks like a pretty straightforward job to me. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 21:50, August 3, 2012 (UTC)

I just gave your bot its rights, so you can go ahead with replacing the quote templates. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 22:58, August 3, 2012 (UTC)
I checked your bot and you held true to your word. Good work with that Quotation template. About those infobox changes, I'm really careful about that. 95% of the GECK data already found its place there is my idea. What information do you want to add then and how? Looks a bit complex to me too placing all various data on the right infobox parameter spot. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 18:08, August 5, 2012 (UTC)
You can really take all that GECK data and translate it to the wiki's infoboxes? That would be something. Especially I'd like the special, derived stats and tag skills on the character pages. But make note that there are a lot of generic characters like Fiends or Followers guards and how you plan to do that with so many entries/data in the GECK? Ok go ahead, set something up but before you set the bot to work I'd like know what and where it's going to do and once it runs it needs to be monitored. This will have a pretty big impact on the pages. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 21:23, August 5, 2012 (UTC)
I'll be waiting. Sound promising. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 22:12, August 5, 2012 (UTC)

Charisma overdrive

How do you get the 169 value from the falloutnv.esm file? Is it accessible in another way than from the GECK? I checked it in-game, it is 169. But in the GECK it reads 10 and that is what we use. Atomic Wrangler crier is a good example that could have the extra GECK info added btw. My preference is first have the missing data added to the named characters, then we can have a look at the rest. Per game. Step by step. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 00:56, August 7, 2012 (UTC)

Botwork on character pages

Does the bot add all those parameters? That's a bit overdone. We don't need all empty image2, image2 etc. parameters added or icon (offset) parameters which are not used on character pages. Also the mentioned one is just for mentioned-only characters and should not be placed on normal appearing characters. And my guess is that rank and family already have been filled in on 95% of the pages, so we don't need them added to pages which don't have them. The rest, like derived stats, special and tag skills, you can add. If you're ready, try a few pages and then give me a sign, so I can take a look at what it does. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 21:57, August 7, 2012 (UTC)

Ok, so the bot will use the order of parameters from the infobox character template and when it's any different on a character page (which will happen quite often I think) he rearranges it to the template order. And the bot will not add empty and unnecessary parameters if I understand correctly. Looks fine to me then, you can progress. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 23:37, August 7, 2012 (UTC)
Already looked like a tall order to me. I'm not in favor of adding empty parameters, even if they don't change the appearance of the page. Can't you make it simpler, like adding one parameter at a time (like special, then tag skills). Or just rearrange the infobox to template order without affecting anything else? And I was wondering, does the bot read its data from that FNV dump you sent me a link from? How are you trying to make it work? Jspoel Speech Jspoel 23:32, August 8, 2012 (UTC)

NUN

I just wanted to tell you that you have done quite a lot of remarkable contributions (Look, a bot!), so it might be time to pass on - to graduate in the New User Network. If you think so, you should tell your mentor that. Energy X 21:56, August 10, 2012 (UTC)

Oh, and added the bot template on your "user bot". Let people acknowledge that you aren't a regular, eh? Energy X 21:58, August 10, 2012 (UTC)

( Energy meant that you've learned enough to do it on your own from now on, so without guidance anymore. Then your name would be added to the Honour Roll as a graduate. Ok, you show good prospect with being able to work with a bot (one of the few people here), but probably it's best to work some more on the other stuff like practising with wiki-markup and get some allround experience editing the wiki. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 22:48, August 10, 2012 (UTC)

Sure, you can do everything in your own time and what you like best comes first. It's all voluntary after all. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 23:28, August 10, 2012 (UTC)

Botwork

Looks fine to me Theodorico, good work. You can go ahead adding the special stats. But keep an eye on what its doing ok? Jspoel Speech Jspoel 14:40, August 12, 2012 (UTC)

I don't know why it is the game has other values as the GECK, but I want to stick with the GECK values. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 21:36, August 13, 2012 (UTC)
Try checking McNamara with Old World Blues checked in the GECK. As OWB changes the stats for BrotherhoodSoldier (00015673) to 6 for Endurance and 5 for Strength. This would also be the same for the game, without OWB installed endurance would be 8, with it installed it would be 6. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 23:10, August 13, 2012 (UTC)
P.S. GECK is always right, you just have to dig deep enough to find the truth.
I didn't know about the change in stats with OWB installed. That was new for me too. Probably you had OWB installed then when you were in-game. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 22:49, August 14, 2012 (UTC)
Just an FYI, OWB is not the only DLC to alter stats in the base game. In fact I don't think there is a single DLC that dose not change a stat some where in the base game. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 23:26, August 14, 2012 (UTC)

Milestone edit

Thanks! I do try to be an inspiration for people to edit a lot, and I think I am successful here and there. Fan of Pink Floyd by any chance? Jspoel Speech Jspoel 01:12, August 15, 2012 (UTC)

Another bot run success

Hey that's looking good to me! Probably in your mind already, but can you do the DLC's too? Then Fallout 3 and its DLC's. Wonder how many are missing there.. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 22:11, August 16, 2012 (UTC)

What kind of derived stats are you planning to add? There are lots and I don't want the list (and infoboxes) becoming unnecessary long. And what are you planning for the creatures? Those infobox and stat tables are different to those of the character ones and are pretty much filled in I was thinking (except the older games). Anyway, I'd like to stay informed of your plans and next steps. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 22:56, August 16, 2012 (UTC)

Caravan guard

Took me some time because Caravan guard has a different name here compared to the GECK where it's Crimson Caravan guard. I'm not sure I think we can stick to the one baseid I added with its stats. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 02:56, August 18, 2012 (UTC)

Hey Theo =) Nice work with the bot, it's really been doing well eh? And nice post in the fora responding to Tag ;) I liked that a lot. --Skire (talk) 15:03, August 18, 2012 (UTC)
This has gone a bit past my GECK knowledge with leveled characters, but it makes sense what you've placed in your sandbox (Button Man can have 17 different appearances right?), so you can go ahead. I'm getting a bit nervous though for the rest of the generic characters like fiends, powder gangers or even leveled creatures like deathclaws or centaurs. Does this mean some kind of overhaul is needed? Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea to have some contact about this with the other bc, GhostAvatar. He's better at this than I am. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 21:03, August 19, 2012 (UTC)

Re: Gratz!

Hah! Google Chrome's ability to have several tabs open at once makes it very easy. ~ Toci ~ Go ahead, make my day. 13:39, August 20, 2012 (UTC)

Capitalisation

I think it has been common practise to write it as "Very Good" or "Very Evil" as the term is an in-game element in its entirety and so both words should be capitalised. --Skire (talk) 22:38, August 22, 2012 (UTC)

I have noticed that too. Would you agree with me that both words should be capitalised? --Skire (talk) 01:33, August 23, 2012 (UTC)
Alright, thanks. Sorry for being a pain =P --Skire (talk) 13:26, August 23, 2012 (UTC)

Good job!

Hi, Theodorico!
You seem to be doing a great job here at Nukapedia. Congratulations! You're in good hands with Jspoelstra; but I guess you already know that, right?;-)
Well, I've come here to give you my personal welcome, assure you my support on anything you I need (if I can be of help), and commend you for your good edits on here so far. Keep up the good work! Cheers, --C'n-Frankie -ArroyoTalk 09:48, August 26, 2012 (UTC)

Re-categorisation

Look good to me! This is what I was hoping to see and I'm confident all will go well now. You can set the bot to work. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 00:35, August 28, 2012 (UTC)

Sure, you can go ahead with it. I fixed Tulip, that one should go fine now. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 22:55, August 28, 2012 (UTC)
You can do the human character recategorizing in the way you see it's best, Theodorico. Everything so far has gone well, so I trust you with this one also. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 09:41, August 30, 2012 (UTC)
The add-ons also still need to have their own human category. We'll get there eventually. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 20:07, August 31, 2012 (UTC)
I've checked the links to his page. Can't find anywhere he's a ghoul or human. Go by the image then. Looks human to me. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 20:36, August 31, 2012 (UTC)

( 5 or less characters can go in Category:Fallout publications human characters. The rest, so 6 or more get their own human category is my idea. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 00:15, September 2, 2012 (UTC)

Right. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 01:33, September 2, 2012 (UTC)

They have been removed. It shouldn't be confused with articles. Energy X 22:11, August 30, 2012 (UTC)

Quotes project

I'm not entirely sure what caused that bug, but I've fixed it. Thanks for pointing that out to me. ~ Toci ~ Go ahead, make my day. 21:20, September 1, 2012 (UTC)

Rough Modification

That's a really nice colour you found. Now that I'm looking at it though, it seems sort of... off. It just doesn't really reinforce the fact that it's a Vault door, you know? I'll mess around with it some more though, and see if I can come up with anything new. However, I'm still going to try and get that damnable bottlecap that Jspoel came up with in the middle of the Vault door. (Instead of 42) I'm sure if I mess around with it enough, I can get it to fit in there looking proper. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 02:52, September 2, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for your belief in me. ;) I hope I'm able to make something that everyone here can enjoy. Also, I do appreciate you giving it a whack. You know, as fast as you created that modification, it shows that you already have the tools on hand. Ever think of giving this idea a go, as well? ;) This idea to change our wiki's look would certainly go by better if additional ideas were passed around. Unfortunately, I don't have much expertise. My main strengths rely on manipulation and solid colours. (Along with using the blur/smear tools.) ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 03:05, September 2, 2012 (UTC)

Fallout Bible characters

Is a Fallout Bible characters category really needed? It isn't a game, after all. Just wondering. ~ Toci ~ Go ahead, make my day. 18:33, September 2, 2012 (UTC)

Human characters

Well it were just 2 pages, so I did it manually. Fixing the category structure at the moment, DLC's characters need to go below the base game characters, not on the same level. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 21:45, September 2, 2012 (UTC)

Looks like it's done! Looks sweet the new structure, much more managable. Thanks for all the programming and work you put into it. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 21:54, September 2, 2012 (UTC)

Fallout 2 image list

Your list is about twice as long. The list currently on the project page got shorter and shorter after I deleted images which I renamed and didn't add in again I think. You probably used your bot to list every image on Category:Fallout 2 character images in that table right? You can replace it, yours is complete. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 22:44, September 3, 2012 (UTC)

Hey I hadn't noticed FNV characters weren't listed there yet. But it's not needed. I can tell because I uploaded almost all character images for New Vegas and they pass. Brings back good old memories from my first few months here. You can see they all have the same format 7:5 and a same profile shot. Same for the FNV DLC's. I didn't add description to the files but that's incredibly tedious work and not really needed. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 23:23, September 3, 2012 (UTC)

New challenge

Not sure if you have watched the conversation between me and User:The Gunny today, but we converted a template to a new format, Infobox reputation. After Gunny had copied it from The Vault, all the infoboxes using it were messed up and I fixed that manually. Just 16 pages so not that much work. There are a few more up for conversion with more pages, probably running up to 100 or so. Might be an interesting challenge for you to program the bot to do the conversion for those pages. You can check Porter's bot over at The Vault to see what he has let it do. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 23:35, September 3, 2012 (UTC)

You can see in Gunny's sandbox how many need conversion in total. Stat and trait need most work. Perk isn't done yet by Porter over at The Vault. I'm not sure how much Gunny has done yet manually. Best to talk it over with him. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 01:19, September 4, 2012 (UTC)
Howdy, Theodorico. I'm currently working through all the pages trancluding Infobox stat. There were only about 60 of them so I'll finish them by hand. If you want, though, you could see if you could set up your bot to make the parameter changes for Infobox trait. Js linked you to my sandbox that details the changes to the parameters. If you have any questions on the changes, let me know. I'll hold off on bringing that template over until you're ready for it. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 01:26, September 4, 2012 (UTC)
A note maybe needed to take into account when programming the bot, but Porter has split some trait pages to a perk page and a trait page. Like Chem Resistant has now 2 pages on The Vault. Probably needs some manual work with (re)moving sections and navboxes and such. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 07:25, September 4, 2012 (UTC)

( Ok let s wait for Gunny to import the trait template. I'm going to split the perk/trait pages Porter has split over at the Vault. It needs to be done manually with personal attention. Already done a few. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 19:05, September 4, 2012 (UTC)

Gunny's going to import that trait template now. Then you're up. As you know I've split some pages. For example Finesse and Bloody Mess are split into trait and perk page. Still need to do a few but I can do that later. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 20:02, September 4, 2012 (UTC)
What kind of icon and where? Jspoel Speech Jspoel 20:08, September 4, 2012 (UTC)
That looks fine, Theodorico. I noticed "game" had already been changed to "games" at some point already when I brougth the others over last night. Also, "name" is not needed, as the template automatically generates the infobox name from Pagename nd so you can delete all "name" parameters also. As for the icons, best to ask Js if he wants those done too. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 20:11, September 4, 2012 (UTC)

Oh you mean in the infobox trait template, as a parameter. Nah, it's not needed. I don't see it anywhere on those pages. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 20:23, September 4, 2012 (UTC)

Theo (can I call you that?), I've got Template:Infobox perk exported and ready, and the parameter changes listed on the table in this sandbox. Let me know when you're ready for the last one. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 20:30, September 4, 2012 (UTC)
I knew you were gonna say that. Sure, I'll lean back for a while a see what the bot does. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 20:33, September 4, 2012 (UTC)

Image size / px

Image size can be removed as a parameter. It's not used anymore with the new perk template. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 20:44, September 4, 2012 (UTC)

Well to be clear, you can just remove the px=.. parameter line and not replace it with the image size parameter. But probably you understood that. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 20:55, September 4, 2012 (UTC)
If there's no image it shouldn't have parameter empty but just being left blank. Now we're getting redlinked images on some pages without images. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 21:07, September 4, 2012 (UTC)
Getting redlinked happened after Gunny imported that template. From that moment on the empty parameter wasn't valid anymore. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 21:15, September 4, 2012 (UTC)
Blank value. It's important enough to list. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 21:30, September 4, 2012 (UTC)

Maybe Gunny didn't include the skill categories. Those pages use the perk template too. Your sandbox looks good, you can proceed. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 22:58, September 4, 2012 (UTC)

Ok, the perk template is over. As for the parameters I've listed on the table, I went off of the table documentation from the old templates and the new ones to see what parameters changed. If there are hidden parameters, I'll have to go through the template code to find them. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 23:22, September 4, 2012 (UTC)

Bloody Mess bot work

Great work on those perk pages, Theo. The infoboxes became a mess after the import so it was good your bot fixed them soon. Have another for you. Can you change all Bloody Mess links on FO3 and FNV weapon pages to Bloody Mess (perk). They were one page (Bloody Mess), but I split the page it yesterday into a trait and perk page. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 23:56, September 5, 2012 (UTC)

Great! And after that and you're not tired of it (I hope not) I've still got a few more for you. Here you can see that besides Bloody Mess I've split a few more pages to trait and perk. A lot of pages had links to the general perk/trait page, but now lead to an overview page. All those pages (hundreds, probably more than a 1000 in total) need a link update like the Bloody Mess one. It's mostly FO1, FO2 and Tactics to the trait version and FO3 and New Vegas to the perk version. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 00:59, September 6, 2012 (UTC)
Good thinking, linking the scope to infobox weapon gamebryo. Those are exactly the pages that need to be checked. You can put the bot at work. And I live in the Netherlands, so remember that messages sent around this hour won't be answered soon because it's now 4:30 a.m. in the morning here. Where do you live? Jspoel Speech Jspoel 02:34, September 6, 2012 (UTC)

( Your bot is going well. Question, how did you find those wrongly piped ammo links on weapon pages? And it's good to have a member from Russia, you're one of the few active members from that time-zone. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 20:42, September 6, 2012 (UTC)

I see. That bot proves to be useful for more than just repetitive editing then. I assume you have a 'plan of attack' to handle the other split perk/trait pages?
Yes kinda slow, 3 edits a minute instead of 5/6 edits. Next one then, probably best to continue fixing perks because that's the newer games.

Bloody Mess

You can start your Bloody Mess (always wanted to say that). Can't you include the other perks at the same time or is that too difficult? I noticed in one of your examples Finesse on the same page which is not changed. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 00:11, September 8, 2012 (UTC)

Ok, you can go ahead then. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 00:22, September 8, 2012 (UTC)

Present, with promotion to patroller

Chrisdesign red glossy pen
You have been given A stylish Editors red pen.
Your efforts and diligence have not gone unnoticed, and you have been given a small token of appreciation.
For all your hard work on the wiki to date - hey, do you know how hard it is to find a working pen in the wastes? The New User Network Team

Theo, I've promoted you to patroller. You will now have a red exclamation mark just in front of edits in recent changes where you can mark the edit as patrolled, and at the end of the edit you will have a rollback feature. Clicking on it immediately reverts an edit, mostly used for vandalism. Giving you these rights means that, as they say, you've climbed up the ladder in this community. We need someone like you, active and technically skilled. I would even say I see the professionalism in you that reminds me of Porter21. You have a good future here ahead if you want. Being a patroller also means you will have the opportunity to apply for adminship in two months. It may be a good idea to get yourself known a bit better among the community in the form of adding your input on forum threads and popping in chat every now and then. For now, congratulations with the graduation and the promotion! Jspoel Speech Jspoel 22:30, September 8, 2012 (UTC)

Patrollership

Turns out we were a good match. But you were always going to surface with the talent and technical skills you've displayed. You can go a long way here. Now you've done a lot of great botwork here; to get some more experience, try to do some more editing to get a more all around feel and you'll be ready for adminship when to time comes (requires 1000 main space edits). Hi Theo. You are that anon who worked a lot on quotes and whom I persuaded to make an account, right? Well clearly a lot of good has come out of that. Especially with Jspoel as your mentor, you remind me a lot of myself (except for the technical knowledge, which I had little of =P) It's still a long way to adminship but I wish you the best and look forward to editing and such with you =) --Skire (talk) 23:42, September 9, 2012 (UTC)

Ok, I've taken a look and it and looks like a small improvement. Do you already have a faction in mind where we could use the mentions? And I guess you need an admins help to change the template right? Jspoel Speech Jspoel 21:37, September 11, 2012 (UTC)

Or actually you meant in-game? No, the guide has its own name for many places and has info not shown in the game. I suggest you get a pdf version of it, it is useful. I'm sure Pitt's bridge is Wabash Bridge, just not called it in-game. Eddo36 (talk) 04:08, September 16, 2012 (UTC)
Actually, the terminal entry mentions this as well. Although, it just says it was a reconstruction of Wabash Bridge, not stating the name. Maybe the lead sentence should say "The Pitt Bridge, formerly Wabash Bridge" or something like that. Paladin117>>iff bored; 04:11, September 16, 2012 (UTC)
Here is a line from the FO3 Prima guide GOTY ed.- "Historical documents reveal that Wabash Bridge was demolished sometime in the 20th century but was rebult later in the 21st century." Eddo36 (talk) 18:28, September 16, 2012 (UTC)

Infobox location

Say Theo, I'm still not entirely happy with the addition of creatures/robots to the infobox locations. I think hostile/friendly isn't really needed as people will know a certain creature is hostile or friendly (like deathclaw, cazador, dog). Raider dogs will be hostile, scavenger dog will be friendly. And in case you attack the NCR, NCR guard dogs will be hostile and if you cooperate with the NCR, these dogs will be friendly. So it's not clear to say and also with the Animal Friend things change. So I suggest scrapping the hostile/friendly parameter.

And I have a new suggestion for the header: Other actors. I've taken a look at the GECK at that gave me the idea. All characters and creatures/robots/computers are in the main branch actors. Characters can stay under the people header; creatures, robots, computers go under other actors. And the new parameters will be:

|creatures =
|robots =

What do you think? Jspoel Speech Jspoel 17:30, September 16, 2012 (UTC)

Theo, I think we should leave it as it is with the creatures and robot parameter. So not robots and computers, that's just a tad too long and would take up two lines in the infobox. Robots will decribe 80% to 90% percent of the possible list is my guess, because mostly it will be robots (looking at the Category:Fallout 3 robots and computers for example). And with AI and other exceptions we can always add (AI). I believe the infobox as it is right now (you just changed it) is good. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 20:22, September 17, 2012 (UTC)
I'll take a look at setting up that project page. We need to get some structure in who's doing what on this project. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 20:29, September 17, 2012 (UTC)
I've added it to the New Vegas locations project page. If you start, try to do one alphabet letter at a time and checkmark it in the progress table, infobox table. It starts with the individual locations section. Add-ons I've done too. I'll get working on updating the Fallout 3 location project now. Other games are of later concern. I'm having trouble opening up my copy of my GECK on my laptop at the moment, it just locked up my computer three times trying. But I will check later. However, is there any way you can actually check the implementation of that effect because I just walked into the house with a Lv.37 character on my PS3 copy and shot it to death using a Silenced .22 Pistol with HP ammo two times. Took 1-3 each time to kill it and the shield never showed up. User:Great_MaraMessage 23:28, September 18, 2012 (UTC)

Quick question

I noticed you made some changes to location infobox parameters regarding the icon display. Would the "type" parameter be redundant when there is a separate location icon parameter that determines what shows up? (e.g. Griffin Wares sacked caravan) --Skire (talk) 22:16, September 21, 2012 (UTC)

Bot categorizing

Theo, I read on the rule exclusion forum thread you have worked your bot to categorize. As far as I'm concerned you can give it a try.Jspoel Speech Jspoel 17:58, October 1, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for your words of congratulations. You can add that no license tag standard to userpage images, like suggested. That way it can be automatized. If we wouldn't do that, we'd still have to go through all those user images manually and the point is to avoid that. And did you already take a look at the creatures infobox thread? I added a comment for changing some parameters. We need still need some progress there. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 22:09, October 1, 2012 (UTC)

Bottalk

Howdy, Theodorico. I see that your bot is running scripts on images in the forum namespace. Can you also script it to run on images that are used in the user space (and only in the user space, not ones that are also used in the mainspace) and add them to ? That should take care of most of the uncategorized images that come in daily. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 21:47, October 1, 2012 (UTC)

Strike that. I see you've already done that. Thanks a bunch. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 21:54, October 1, 2012 (UTC)
Fantastico, Theodoric. I reckon you could probably get by making a scheduled run once a day and keep up with the workload on the images. I'll look at some of the other bot-generated maintenance reports and see if there's any that aren't being populated properly. If they aren't, we can add them to the maintenance bot runs. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 01:46, October 2, 2012 (UTC)

Our forum discussion

I know I can get in an agitated mood sometimes and today I may have overstepped things today. I'm sorry for some of things I said in the forums today and would appreciate it if you would remain a valuable part of the Nukapedia team. Thanks.--Kingclyde (talk) 01:51, October 5, 2012 (UTC)

Theo, I really hope you're willing to reconsider. Just talked to Clyde and he didn't have the best of days as have we all. Then in a moment we can say something that afterwards you regret or wish you said it in a more friendly tone. I'll be honest with you, I'm worried about you wanting to leave, because I see the importance (as do we all I think) of your technical work, now and for the future. In your short career you've come up with plenty of new ideas already and done a lot of work with your bot. Sleep a night on it and tomorrow things will/should look brighter again. Hope to see you again Theo! You matter to us. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 02:26, October 5, 2012 (UTC)
Read you comment on Clyde's page. Don't be so hard on him. Us bureaucrats get a lot on our plate you know. We are in a top leadership position and personally I can say I feel the need to be aware on everything that's going on and to respond to that. I haven't been able to that on occassion because I also still want to have some 'real fun' editing and do what I initially signed up for when I joined this wiki. Clyde has involved himself more in responding to all problems/threads and that's demanding I can tell you. Don't forget we still also have our real lifes where we have to deal with worries and when you spend some wiki time, you do that because you mainly want to have a good time and not be confronted with more problems. We're all human after all and there are also limits to what us bureaucrats can handle. So then from time to time the pressure adds up and results in a reaction like Clyde did on that thread. Hope you're willing to see that from his point of view and reconsider your decision. You have a great prospect here and you leaving would be a great loss. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 14:57, October 5, 2012 (UTC)

Hi Theo. So it's been a few days now since your departure and I sincerely hope you were able to think this through and take into consideration all factors. Being the one who advised your then-anonymous user to register, I feel very happy knowing that someone with such knowledge, passion, and skilfulness can be brought out of those IP numbers. Through your relatively short time here, you have done so much for this wiki. We need someone with technical knowledge and competence, we need someone who is logical and assertive, we need you. I have "quit" twice already, both after incidents that enraged me more than a website should. That having been said, I always found myself crawling back less than 24 hours later. Nothing can be undone or unresolved, if you just give it some time. I like you. Many of us here like you. I'm not saying this because I feel obligated to, but only because I wish to. Please reconsider your decision to leave. If you want to return, I (as well as many others here) will be the utmost ecstatic. If you wish to not return, I hope you will find contentment and happiness elsewhere in your life.

With warm regards,
Danny 23:43, October 13, 2012 (UTC)

Cassidy Caravans

Just started up a new playthrough to confirm a few things a couple weeks ago. Won't be tonight, but tomorrow I'll load the game back up and go through their dialogue again. I'm about 90% sure that Alice and the Van Graffs still believe the Cassidy Caravans to be in business still, but there is still room for a margin of error, so I'll make sure to verify my statements. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 01:33, October 25, 2012 (UTC)

Very true. However, she also says that there's nothing left of her Caravan and its fortune except for the documents that state her as the founder and owner. She even said that the papers were worthless, but she felt she should hold onto them because it would be like selling her name and identity. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 02:05, October 25, 2012 (UTC)
Hmm. Sort of a thin boundary this debate is treading on, isn't it? I guess this can only be resolved once we can determine if we should consider an idea that no longer physically exists as something you can be affiliated with. (Personally, I don't feel this as the correct way to go, as then we could say stuff like Marcus still being affiliated with the Master/Unity/Children of the Cathedral.) ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 02:20, October 25, 2012 (UTC)
I like you. You're actually able to hold your own in a debate. While I still don't believe we should consider a mere idea as something that can truly be affiliated to, I can understand your points in a way. At this point, I would advise asking a Bureaucrat to give a final verdict. Maybe if there were still business connections active, or even if Cass would have expressed her desire to bring the Caravan back after she went back home and got some money together, I would agree with you entirely. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 02:47, October 25, 2012 (UTC)
Of course. I guess I should have clarified further: Nukapedia is a living and thriving essence that anyone can tap into. Cassidy Caravans is different in my mind since it is merely an idea that is singularly trapped in the mind of Cassidy; being dead to everyone else. (Although, technically, it's even a dead concept to Cassidy who is merely holding onto the title for nostalgic reasons concerning her identity and what her father would think of her.) Yeah, I can understand that. Bureaucracy is never a pleasing prospect. :P ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 03:11, October 25, 2012 (UTC)

Crafting table

That looks perfect, Theo. Was that your bot, or did you do that manually? The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 00:42, November 1, 2012 (UTC)

Works for me:). If you want to get started, maybe you can work your way through the consumables. I'm finishing the VATS attack table changes, and I can start on ammo. I'm more familiar with the ammo so I'll be able to do those by hand pretty quick. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 01:59, November 1, 2012 (UTC)
Great work, Theodorico. We've got FNV ammo just about done. If you want to take a look at FO3 crafting (I think that's just the weapons, right?), that should wrap it up. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 20:27, November 1, 2012 (UTC)

Collapsible content

Thanks for all the work on the crafting tables. I looked at the shell template you've made and agree that that's the best way to do the notable loot and notable quotes. Let's go ahead and make it a template, call it "Notable content"?. Let me know if you want me to do the doc page, or if you're gonna do it. And I'm assuming that can be added pretty easily by bot, right? All the notable loot sections should be in the location categories. The notable quotes sections are probably all on character pages. We'll have to check to see if any are on faction or location pages. Good work. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 17:36, November 3, 2012 (UTC)

Ran into a problem. Take a look at the template usage. When you click the expand link, it's showing all the extra lines, even those without content. I've tried a few things. I'll keep working on it. Maybe a template that includes just the closing brackets can be added as the else argument at the end of each parameter line. I'll see if that works. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 00:00, November 4, 2012 (UTC)
Lol. That's about the only thing I didn't try. Good work. Ready to go when you are. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 17:15, November 4, 2012 (UTC)
Everything looks good. Let's run with it. I need to bring up adding skill magazines back into notable loot in that forum now. Thanks, good work. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 20:36, November 5, 2012 (UTC)
Thank you Theo. I really appreciate the hard work you're doing. We couldn't do it without you (and your bot:) The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 00:41, November 7, 2012 (UTC)

Rotating content

I reckon what would probably work best is is you run the bot on all pages with more than one quote and populate the transposed template with the quotes already on the page. We can always catch up the other pages when they get enough quotes on them by hand. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 01:41, November 10, 2012 (UTC)

Update

Howdy, Theodorico. I was wanting to update the forum on all the template work we did. Can you give me a quick update? I believe all the bot work is done, right? And thanks again. I appreciate all the help with this. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 22:34, November 13, 2012 (UTC)

Things I like

  • I'm liking the idea for an in-line quotation template (I could have sworn we already had that, but I guess not).
  • I'm liking the idea for putting the audio files with the quotes.
  • I'm not liking how that ugly green .ogg player looks, especially after you click to play.
  • I don't care one way or the other on the quotation marks.

As long as the in-line quotes look good inside normal page text, properly sized and all that (add a parameter for font-size? or style?) let's go ahead and make the template.

What about adding the audio file links as a parameter to the template? There any way you can figure out how to do that? Possibly hide the player and only have something like Sound (sounnd) visible?

  • Example:
  • Sound

 The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 01:19, November 16, 2012 (UTC)

That's pretty much what I was hoping you could do. I like. Can that be added to the In-line quote template you're working on as an optional parameter so if there's a sound file defined the trigger and pop-up display? The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 16:33, November 18, 2012 (UTC)

Fallout 3 locations navbox botwork

Theo, I've done an overhaul on the FO3 locations navbox. Can you add it to all FO3 marked and unmarked location pages with your bot? Should be placed at the bottom, above the categories. At the moment it's only on major location pages, but now all locations are in the navbox, they can be on every location page. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 01:14, November 21, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks! I knew I could count on you to make swift work of it. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 01:01, November 22, 2012 (UTC)

In-line quote

Perfect, Theodorico. Just wanted to make sure it works in all browsers. Let's go ahead and make a template out of it, perhaps Inline quote? Let me know when to add the CSS to the site .CSS. Thanks a ton for all the work. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 17:41, November 25, 2012 (UTC)

Doc page looks fine. Add something to the forum when you get Liberty Prime page done and we'll see how folks like it. I think it's a great addition. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 19:11, November 25, 2012 (UTC)

Odd stuff

That's weird. Depending on where you add breaks, the template acts weirdly. If you add one extra break between the lines, it adds two. Hmm. Let me think about this for a bit. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 02:37, November 30, 2012 (UTC)

Let's do this instead. Let's leave it where it's at and simply put a note on the usage page that it may break lines in text paragraphs. There's a chance we may find other uses for this template (perhaps in the future) so I'd just as soon leave it where it is, but caution against it's use in paragraphs. GECK

Do you have access to the GECK? If so, can you check if killing drill sergeant makes some recruits cheer and nearby girls dance (with Wild Wasteland trait)? There have been multiple statements for that. Energy X Signature0 22:12, December 10, 2012 (UTC)

Theo, can you change Brotherhood Scrip to Brotherhood scrip on all Fallout Tactics pages with your bot? They're mostly in infoboxes on the armor and weapon pages. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 02:32, December 14, 2012 (UTC)

Lily ending image

During your work on the FNV endings, you removed an image and replaced it with another one. It's the 4th image in the Lily ending series. I assume it was a mistake because it's an ending image and should go at least somewhere on the page. Take a look at it for yourself. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 16:02, December 14, 2012 (UTC)

I did notice you uploaded some FO3 ending images. I thought I had them all and was annoyed to see for example Jefferson missing. I could have sworn I had that one uploaded. No, wasn't right. He was asking if that solution even existed. It does. However, I was wrong at the same time by saying it was a bug, when it is now discovered that it is cut content. I'd like to have you on the admin team. It would mean the step up that would fit someone with your template and css skills. Only The Gunny can compare to that on Nukapedia. It's a bit strange to see a patroller do high level work on these kind of things and not be an admin. I tell you, Porter21 didn't even apply for bureaucratship, he was handed it by Ausir even without a request. That important are these skills. You deserve a higher position in the community and it would give some new tools like being able to change protected pages/templates and CSS scripts yourself. Well give it another thought. But if you don't want it (yet), I'll respect that. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 18:06, December 24, 2012 (UTC)

Sound icon

I like the one we have now better. It has the sound 'thud' that yours is missing. Breaking text is a bit of a big word I think, just 4px over the 16px is tiny. Makes the icon just a bit more visible in the wall of text around it. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 18:43, December 28, 2012 (UTC)

Playpen

Hey Theo, how did you get the Playpen image that sharp? And I've seen you add Wilderness cell names to location pages. How do you find these numbered cell names? And did you see Leon went inactive, you would be the one to fill that opened up spot. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 19:07, January 8, 2013 (UTC)

About the playpen, I presume you clicked the Vault101d interior and removed all objects except the playpen? Still the only slight color difference between the playpen and background (blueish) is what kept me from getting a sharp image. Can you change that background too? And I know where the cellnames and ids for the wilderness are. Question though is: how do you link them to a location? Like when you have an unmarked location, with no entry in the GECK. How will you know what wilderness ID belongs to it? Jspoel Speech Jspoel 23:07, January 8, 2013 (UTC)

That looks great! I was just hoping you would be able to build the tables, wasn't expecting the detection parameters, go ahead and start building the tables. ---bleep196- (talk) 18:12, January 15, 2013 (UTC)
Wow yeah it's having trouble loading, I don't think we can leave articles without bugs out, cause people may add more in the future. Is there a way that we could create a template that would automatically add an article as having bugs present, so that when people add bugs to an article in the future they will be added into the table automatically? If we could created that it would save us a huge amount of trouble and we could remove the empty links. ---bleep196- (talk) 15:46, January 17, 2013 (UTC)
Sounds good to me. I think I'll take the charts off the Bug page, and I'll put them in my sandbox, and place a link there so that people can go there and see which pages have bugs or not. ---bleep196- (talk) 21:41, January 18, 2013 (UTC)

Re:(Moar) Botwork

Excellent. If you don't mind how about "appears" --> "appears only"? That way we'll pretty much get everything. Thanks a lot, my friend. --Skire (talk) 03:51, January 15, 2013 (UTC)

I'll start thinking about a template. And if "appears" isn't specific enough maybe " appears " (with spaces) would work? --Skire (talk) 23:25, January 15, 2013 (UTC)
There aren't that many left, so that could work. Although I'm not thrilled about such a menial task going to users, it is something that must be done. Sound idea, let's get to it =) --Skire (talk) 19:44, January 16, 2013 (UTC)

Patroller blog

Howdy. I made a blog covering some patroller/rollback stuff. Mostly things everybody knows already, but a few things there I wanted to make sure we were all on the same page about. Template change

Hey, Theo. I made a change to the Infobox weapon adding a switch to check the {games} parameter and add a dollar sign ($) and link to the appropriate currency for FO1, FO2 and FOT for item values. It seems that there are some infoboxes where the dollar sign ($) had already been added by hand to the values and now we're showing two $, the template rendered $ and the hand entered $. Is there any chance you can run your bot over the pages linked to that template, check the |value= parameters and remove any dollar signs ($) that are there? Let me know if we need to do this manually if you can't. Thanks a bunch. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 22:00, January 18, 2013 (UTC)

Go ahead and make them go away. I'll add BOS to the switch. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 01:34, January 19, 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, Theo. They want to do some others, too. Change all the FO1/FO2 infoboxes so it has the same $ links. I'm gonna do them one at a time so it's not a mess, but I may ask you to run the bot over some of the other item pages if they have the same thing. Let me know if we're asking too much of you. I've seen a lot of bot requests lately. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 02:26, January 19, 2013 (UTC)
I made the changes to Infobox consumable. These are the new parameters:
|fo2=$|fot=$|fo1=$|fobos=$|fo3=$|fnv=$
I don't know how many pages might already have $ or links on them, but if you could run the bot over them, that would be greatly appreciated. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 21:24, January 19, 2013 (UTC)
I considered adding that, but the editors that asked for this to be added desire to add multi-game values by hand. If I add that default, we'd have an extra $ again. What I'm actually considering is adding additional per-game value parameters so that multi-game infoboxes will display more than one value by defined parameter. I'll look into that after I do the simple additions I'm doing now. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 22:02, January 19, 2013 (UTC)

Botwork request

Since Tocinoman seems to be quite busy as of late, I'd like to forward an original request for his bot to you. Could you please add the template Bug Verification Project to the top of all pages with bugs? (creatures, locations, characters, etc.) almost all pages on the wiki, but not all (e.g. Van Buren pages, and other non-applicable pages). Many thanks, my friend. --Skire (talk) 01:59, January 20, 2013 (UTC)

Excellent! You're the man =) --Skire (talk) 23:15, January 20, 2013 (UTC)

Going after it a little different

How's this look? Used abbcontains to set up checks in {games} to display the different monetary symbols, values and icons. Works for all games/dlcs. Icons only display when there's more than one game. I'm think of adding additional parameters so you can enter different values for different games, ie {value fo1}, etc., defaulting to base {value}. You see any logic flaws there? Template at User:The_Gunny/sandbox3. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 03:03, January 20, 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, that and I need to use a table for the rows instead of line breaks. I'll work on it some more today. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 17:41, January 20, 2013 (UTC)
For some reason the sub-template is not passing the abbcontains parameters through. I'll have to add them to each template. No biggie. I added those parameters for different values depending on the game. Not sure how much they'll be used, but the FO3/FNV ones are usually different. I already changes infobox weapon to test. Looks ok to me. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 18:39, January 20, 2013 (UTC)

( For the changed infobox templates, is there a possiblity to leave the entry of the value of infoboxes n/a and not add a dollar sign in front of it? For example look at .44 magnum (Fallout Tactics), that doesn't look good. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 23:23, January 22, 2013 (UTC)

I reckon there's two ways we can try to go about this. One would be to simply remove the n/a and replace with -. the other would be to see if I can add a {{#ifeq:{value}|n/a|{value}|${value}}} argument. I'll play with that and see if it works. If I can't get that to work, maybe then we make the other change. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 20:45, January 23, 2013 (UTC)
I was just thinking that may be a better way. I got the ifeq to work, but we could define two variables: One for the monetary unit, one for the per game value. Give it a shot. Perhaps you can get the sub-template to parse the abbcontains, I wasn't able to. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 21:06, January 23, 2013 (UTC)

Value template

Everything looks good to me. I tried just about all combos of games/values and didn't see anything wonky. Go ahead and make the changes if you want. I'll add the subtemplate to the other infobox templates I changed after you make it, then we can do the rest. Any reason why we shouldn't do the FO3 & FNV templates, too?  The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 21:02, January 24, 2013 (UTC)

I just found this. Even though we're checking for the empty {value} parameter, for some reason when |value= is undefined, we're still getting the value infobox row rendering when it should be hidden. Ideas? The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 20:23, January 26, 2013 (UTC)
Simple solution would be to move the check for empty value parameter to the infobox template from the auxiliary template. Not very elegant, gut it should work. Otherwise, perhaps another check for empty parameter before the check for n/a? The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 20:45, January 26, 2013 (UTC)

Hehe, well if it's too much work we can leave it with the "only"s in. It doesn't matter too much, except for some slight awkwardness. But I think you and your bot can handle it =) --Skire (talk) 23:21, January 28, 2013 (UTC)

Question

You don't happen to speak Russian, do you? I might need some help over at the Russian Fallout wiki. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 20:59, February 1, 2013 (UTC)

I've been working on redoing the look of the infoboxes at the Russian wiki. The going has been a little slow since I don't speak Russian. I've got the background and border colors changed, but I've been having a heck of a time getting the whitespace between cells in properly. Been thinking about this and here's my thoughts:
  • We can continue changing the existing infoboxes so they have the same look as ours. This is something Js has offered them and they accepted. Their infoboxes are made up of a number of templates, one for the basic infobox structure [1], one for the image [2], and one for the infobox data rows [3]. Those are the links to the parts I've been working on. You can see the css changes at my personal css there [4] and on the infobox I'm using as a test [5]. If there's any chance you could help finish adding the whitespace between cells properly, that would be great. There also seems to be some css over there that could be cleaned up a bit, but like I said, it's been a little difficult for me without any knowledge of Russian.
OR
  • We could consider porting over our infoboxes. This would be a pretty big project, since there's a ton of auxiliary templates and images that need to go with it. It would mean you'd have to translate all of the templates and template docs, and then change all the infoboxes with your bot. Not sure if you're up to that or not, but it's another option that would set them up with our more complete infobox and ones that can easily handle the next game.
Let me know what you think and if you can help out. Feel free to edit my user space over there. Thanks a ton. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 17:14, February 2, 2013 (UTC)
Looks good. Thanks. You make some good points, let's just stick with their infoboxes. I returned the text and link colors to wiki default like ours (I believe), if you could double check it? All that needs to be done is to copy the css to their common.css and change the class for their image from "FO3-infobox-header" to "FO3-infobox-image" in template:Заголовок карточки. If you could handle coordinating the changes with them, that would be a big help. Thanks again. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 03:35, February 3, 2013 (UTC)

Bot request (part 21644)

Hey Theo! (Once again) can I ask you for some bot assistance? This one might be tricky, but the goal is to insert verified at the end of every bug note that displayed Platforms. It would be much preferable for a bot to handle this, considering there several users are doing this manually, deluging the RC and RWA. Please let me know. --Skire (talk) 01:30, February 7, 2013 (UTC)

The bugs are not being verified or checked. Everything with a platforms tag is being assumed true at the moment, and the tags are being added to all of them. This is why I would request botwork. --Skire (talk) 02:51, February 7, 2013 (UTC)
