Not sure if this article warrents staying up or not, but I hope adding in that this item's existance is mere speculation versus solid fact may prove useful. J Gerrity 16:34, May 5, 2011 (UTC)

EDIT: I'll take the recent edits of this and the SLCPD armor as an answer. :) J Gerrity 16:50, May 5, 2011 (UTC)

This looks a lot like the 9mm pistol in the base game... YKOF 20:04, May 5, 2011 (UTC)

You fail at life. Yuri(Leave a message!) 20:09, May 5, 2011 (UTC)
JE Sawyer already said it's not the base 9mm Pistol. Since the 9mm is a Browning High-Power, a gun looking a lot like a 1911 ... Well, the 1911 will look a bit like a 9mm. Xporc 09:12, May 6, 2011 (UTC)

Love you too, Yuri! YKOF 14:15, May 6, 2011 (UTC)

Possible Stats

I'm gonna hope it's DAM is at least 38 or so considering it is a low capacity weapon. I just really don't want this thing becoming obsolete considering it hasn't been in Fallout for quite a long time. And to the 10 million kids saying it looks like the 9mm pistol..seriously would it kill any of you to take 5 seconds and do some research before you open your mouths? --Ninety9Soulz 09:15, May 6, 2011 (UTC)

Probably would, considering there are also some people that think the Hi-Power looks like an M92. :/ Great Mara 09:45, May 6, 2011 (UTC)

My guess is that it'll end up being to the 9mm pistol (or possibly the 10mm now that I think of it) as the Police Pistol is to the .357 magnum. Basically extremely similar with minor improvements.--WouldYouKindly 04:00, May 8, 2011 (UTC)

I'm quite sure that it will be chambered in 10mm. Done the math, and the calibre's of by a rough millimetre. The .44 isn't as broad, but it's quite a bit to long (IRL), but there are M1911's chambered for the 10mm short round (.40S&W) in real life, so it'll probably be a 10mm pistol. Scarface11235 06:13, May 8, 2011 (UTC)

Quite possible, as there actually IS an M1911 variant called the Colt Delta Elite chambered for the 10mm Auto round.--WouldYouKindly 23:39, May 10, 2011 (UTC)

I'm guessing it'll do around 20-25 DAM.--Shadow 12:34, May 8, 2011 (UTC)

I dont think it will be a 10mm since it is being refered to as the .45 auto pistol . NILLOC 916, 5/5/11

Well, I don't think so anymore, as we now know what it'll be chambered in... This was pre-name speculation, Herp Derp Scar: "Say 'ello to my little friend!" 21:23, May 15, 2011 (UTC)

Version

We are calling this pistol M1911 but i think that the pistol is the A1 version (M1911A1), mostly becouse of the handle. what do you guys think?

Wait to see if it's offically labelled in the release? I really don't feel like dealing with a lot more weapon speculation on another weapon page. Great Mara 09:52, May 6, 2011 (UTC)

Unless they call it by name, whatever it looks like is irrelevant. 96.18.76.204 06:34, May 7, 2011 (UTC)

It is only named this until the DLC is launched and the true name is found out, at that point the page will be moved to the in-game name regardless of what it looks like. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 04:12, May 8, 2011 (UTC)

It's not the A1, it's the original 1911. Look at the grip and the trigger; the grip doesn't have the added bulk below the grip safety on the lower part of the grip, and the trigger is longer than in the A1. The hammer also seems to be the little larger type as in the 1911. - CRIMINAL SCUM 09:31, May 8, 2011 (UTC)

Redirect needed?

Assuming this is the same as the .45 Auto Pistol shouldn't the information here be transposed onto that page and a redirect created? Great Mara 19:59, May 11, 2011 (UTC)

Lol, you was just thinking that as I was doing it, the page has now been moved to .45 auto pistol. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 20:04, May 11, 2011 (UTC)

Auto capitalisation

Why? Trolly Polly Olly 11:15, May 14, 2011 (UTC)

A common American .45 round is the .45 ACP, or Automatic Colt Pistol round. .45 Auto is just a shortened (non acronym) way of saying .45 ACP 144.118.213.244 19:05, May 14, 2011 (UTC)

.45 Auto is the official name as given by the C.I.P. for this round, therefore a proper noun. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 19:13, May 14, 2011 (UTC)

Stupid question

So, this may be a really dumb question, but having very little knowledge about firearms, does anyone think this will be automatic? Do guns in real life that use this ammo often have an automatic setting? Sorry to have wasted your times in advance, friends. :p--With care and happiness, Supermutantslayer450' YOU. LOSE. 19:59, May 15, 2011 (UTC)

Never seen a fully automatic 1911 so I doubt it. Great Mara 20:01, May 15, 2011 (UTC)
That doesn't mean this weapon wont be. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 20:11, May 15, 2011 (UTC)

Didn't look automatic in the trailer though... But, who knows? Scarface11235 20:15, May 15, 2011 (UTC)

Auto doesn't mean it's a burst weapon, it simply means that it automatically chambers the next bullet. The pistol's going to be semi-auto. Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 21:14, May 15, 2011 (UTC)

Not very good

is it me or is this gun not very effective |?? also its almost identical to the 9mm in both appearance and sound and damage,,i still prefer the police pistol. Tommygunner32 17:01, May 17, 2011 (UTC)

lol fail. No, it is nowhere near the 9mm in stats. 9mm damage ~13 .45 damage ~34 34/13 is approximately 2.5 times. I highly doubt that this is 'not very effective'.

Adding on to the above, it isn't nearly the same in appearance. Yuri(Leave a message!) 01:39, May 18, 2011 (UTC)

.45 Auto Pistol - M1911 refeerance

When you ask Joshua Graham about his pistols on the table he says something like "This weapon was designed by my tribe over 400 years ago." The M1911 was of course designed in 1911 by John Moses Browning, a Mormon who lived in Utah. Would this be relevant to add to the page? I think it would because the game is specifically referencing a real life person, but I didn't want to add it without making sure. Vault Dweller 5 21:32, May 17, 2011 (UTC)

As we cannot confirm that it actually WAS J.M.Browning, I would leave it out Scar: "Say 'ello to my little friend!" 21:34, May 17, 2011 (UTC)

I would add it because i got on here 2 say that same exact thing because im a gun nut and know these things--MellowHackJack 01:23, May 19, 2011 (UTC)

I love how you expect a million internet people to believe you. As Scarface said, it's possible that in Fallout canon, John Browning didn't invent the M1911. Yuri(Leave a message!) 01:29, May 19, 2011 (UTC)

But if the Fallout universe didn't begin to diverge from ours until shortly after World War II, then it's perfectly plausible that it is the M1911.

I am about 99% sure that they were purposely referenceing John Browning. He was a mormon, so it makes sense that Graham says "one of my tribe." He lived in Utah, and he invented it in 1911, 370 years before the game. Vault Dweller 5 17:56, May 19, 2011 (UTC)

I am pretty sure there is a policy against adding any mention of the firearms real world counterpart to the page, I don't think there is anything against the discussion, though. Just figured I'd point that out before someone decides to post it.8.25.243.16 05:20, May 21, 2011 (UTC)

You'd have to be a special kind of idiot not to realize that they were referencing John Browning. The fact that they added a whole new ammo type and the similarities of the M1911 to the .45 auto pistol are way too great to say that it can't be.Samiam22 01:37, May 22, 2011 (UTC)

If you guys want, and it's okay with the wiki rules you could create a Trivia section and write something like "When asking Joshua Graham about his pistol, he will tell you that it was build by one of his tribe 400 years ago. This could be a reference to John Moses Browning, who was also a mormon, that designed the Colt M1911" - IPodged 14:51, May 22, 2011 (UTC)

Is it affected by 'The Professional' Perk?

I know quite a few handguns aren't, can someone confirm if the .45 Auto is? --Ninety9Soulz 16:20, May 18, 2011 (UTC)

I tested it myself and it is indeed affected as it should be.--Ninety9Soulz 12:52, May 20, 2011 (UTC)

Just an FYI, this is the script that is run once you start the DLC main quest

Gunslinger perk?

Guys, is it affected by the Gunslinger perk?

Well, it's a pistol, so yes it is. Also, remember to sign your posts. --Wiseman of the Wastes 13:39, May 22, 2011 (UTC)

Anyone else think it would be fun if you could?
