Distinction between ARCHIMEDES I and II?
There is a clear distinction made in the game between ARCHIMEDES II and ARCHIMEDES (or ARCHIMEDES I). Diverting power to ARCHIMEDES II is necessary to use Euclid's C-Finder as a weapon, but arming ARCHIMEDES is what kills all the NCR soldiers.
It's pretty clear that when you activate ARCHIMEDES I, it causes a strike from ARCHIMEDES II to hit the area around the power plant. So is ARCHIMEDES I the base security system, that uses ARCHIMEDES II to actually perform the strike? Or is ARCHIMEDES I an earlier iteration of the laser system? Or is ARCHIMEDES I the initial targeting laser and ARCHIMEDES II the actual strike laser?
I put this page here as a stake in the ground, and I'll go re-read all the text associated with the quest from the terminals and so forth. Then I'll try to clarify the options on the Lucky Old Sun and HELIOS One pages.
I armed the laser and i watched it kill all the NCR in the back i went through the building and found no one i went outside and Lt. Haggerty and the guards were not there and their bodies no where to be found did they run away or something?
- If you arm ARCHIMEDES I, it will kill all the NCR troops in and around the power station, including Haggerty. I guess the idea is that they were all lured into the kill zone by the initial strikes, and then all got incinerated by the secondary strike. Dmunsil 02:49, November 25, 2010 (UTC)
