Regarding name[]

Well my second name is callaghan, so i thought that it was a typo something --KieranBOS 13:37, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
Callahan also makes a whole lot more sense for the Dirty Harry reference. -- Porter21 (talk) 13:45, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
Do you feel lucky, punk?

So this is objectively better than the Blackhawk? I didn't think they'd go that far with DLC.

Yeah that makes more sense, sorry, my mistake--KieranBOS 13:52, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

No idea whether it's better, I'm not one of our weapon experts. The numbers are from the GECK and going by them it seems to do more damage, yes. -- Porter21 (talk) 13:57, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Kinda makes the Agatha's song quest a bit pointless except for collectors then doesn't it?67.211.81.140 16:34, 5 May 2009 (UTC)Cavesloth

the added radio station makes it worthwhile in my view. Jdw 03:42, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

Well I stand corrected, if you have to blow up the Citadel to get it, it doesn't make the Blackhawk pointless, though it sucks that the "bad karma" one is better than the "good karma" one.

Location[]

Does anyone know where it is?

Can you get it if you DON'T destroy the Citidal? 64.12.116.197 11:21, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[JimmyBassatti]

Thats complete Bullshit.. I wanted to f*** up the Enclave with this gun. 77.25.190.6 12:32, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Hmm...can anyone find it without destroying the Citadel? Seems like getting a gun referencing a good guy in a movie by destroying a base of the good guys in the game is a bit...odd. --Captain192 19:34, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

i didn't like the BoS anyways--Warhammerork 12:21, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Right, if you destroy the Citidel, there is an entrance in the crater, and an exit to a walkway. Now, if you don't destroy it, the exit DOES NOT EXIST. Now, this makes no sense, as the place you find the magnum has a terminal talking about the tesla cannon being loaned out for Adam's airforce base. Really, this wierd, as you would think this room should be there. Fat Man Spoon 21:05, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Agreed. Why do they put a weapon in an underground office chamber that cannot be accessed through the Citadel. If they make a fix for the PC, they should ad a hallway to sector B, or something of the sort. I mean who is the underground bunker for anyway? A Brotherhood of Steels secret Stash? A Traitor to the Brotherhood secret hideout? At least throw in a cave in to show why its blocked, or something. --T-51b Power Armor 00:57, 8 May 2009 (UTC)T-51b Power Armor

it might also be the BOS dosn't know it's there. I could be in a part of the citadel that ended up being sealed while it was the pentagon, and belonged to a high ranking officer. Maye Dirty Harry changed career paths?-DragonJTSLeave me a message 01:08, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Ahh! But that does not explain the computer that talks about the Tesla Cannon. --T-51b Power Armor 01:10, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Has anyone tried turning off clipping on the PC (tilde, "tlc") and trying to reach the room? Or does the destruction event somehow trigger the creation of the cell? It seems like the seemingly glitchy nature of this would make this an "allowable" cheat for PC players, depending on how strict your standards are. --IrishCape 21:16, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

I wish there was a way to get it without blowin the citadel up coz im a collector but i just couldn't bring myself to do it if anyone finds a way to get it without blowing up the citadel can they post it coz i really want it

If Harry Callahan's a good character (dirty, but good) then why is this gun only given to those evil characters. I want to give it to a Clint Eastwood of the post apocalypse but I don't feel like blowing up the Citadel and lose allies for one gun.

See but you dont loose allies because the enclave befriend you. -but enclave suck so is it worth it for a weapon like that?- I really think even if you blow up the citadel and the enclave befriend you i bet there still a little pissed because you blew the hell out of raven rock -or liberty prime did.. any way you were still involved...sorta-

Now this is a real letdown. When you complete the game a number of times you start to get interest in the items. In this new profile I started to be an item collector - from Vengeance to a simple white plate - But knowing I need to blow up the Citadel puts me in a hard position! Blowing up the Citadel sucks, but then again is the unique Callahan Magnum. I guess I'll let the gun pass just like I did in the anchorage simulation with the amaerican grease monkey suit ;) --190.201.80.185 17:06, November 10, 2009 (UTC)

Scope[]

I find it odd that they reference Dirty Harry's .44 magnum, but don't use the ingame model of the scopeless revolver.

probably too lazy to change it from scoped

Well yeah, and, to me, a scoped one is better because it has a scope. Also, the fact that the only unscoped magnum in the game does 9000 damage may put a damper on anything else. --Twentyfists 19:41, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
I found it very disappointing that the gun came with a scope. I really didn't feel the need to blow up the citadel for a slightly stronger Blackhawk. On the other hand, if it was unscoped I would have blown the Citadel sky high in a heartbeat. I really wish Bethesda would have made a scope-less .44 Magnum available to us. --Esscex 22:53, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Why do they have to be so lazy they already had a fully working scopeless model. Explosive InstaMash 19:51, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Making it scopeless, why? this is fallout 3, not dirty harry reloaded! Its a reference, but not exactly the same. thats what references are.

You win an Internet for Dirty Harry: Reloaded. Nitty 20:47, September 19, 2009 (UTC)

They made Cowboys Magnum unscoped. Why not Dirty Harry's?

They didn't have scopes in the 1800s! Nitty 20:47, September 19, 2009 (UTC)
i agree with nitty, back then scope's were sci-Fi stuff, for the most part they did not exist, because also, why the hell would a cowboy put a scope on his pistol? i mean i ask that question for every scoped 44 magnum, but it makes even less sense for a cowboy, u know what? I'm gonna make a forum now to discuss scoped 44 magnums and there variants.Toolazytomakeaaccount 17:30, November 10, 2009 (UTC)
Mounting a scope on a handgun is ridiculous anyway. With your naked eye you can already see much further than you can hit something (a revolver or pistol is good for maybe 30m, and that's already stretching it), it's totally worthless. For example a laser pointer does make sense since it allows you to shoot from the hip, without using the sights, but a scope on a revolver is just absurd, a typical idea for posers who don't know jack (and I thought Americans grow up with firearms...). They shouldn't have done a scoped .44 at all in the first place. A way to properly use the iron sight on various weapons would have been MUCH better. But no, they know they can rely on the modding community to fix their games, so why should they put more effort in it.--87.158.239.49 13:41, March 23, 2010 (UTC)
you think the scopes abit too much. on metro 2033 you can get a revolver with a stock scope silencer and extended barrel so its is effectively a sniper rifle
Actually, a .44 magnum revolver (or any large bore, high powered revolver) can easily reach out to 90m or more-and not surprisingly so; these revolvers deliver muzzle velocities and energies comparable to many rifles. On top of that, modern revolvers are nothing like the cowboy single-action revolvers of the 1800s. They're equipped with rifled, hammer forged barrels, and are machined to exacting specifications. They really can strike at long range, however, to do this, you need something a little more refined than the iron sights. You need a scope. LiO-Ecks 09:24, August 7, 2014 (UTC)
Actually, you couldn't have all four at once in Metro. Nitty Tok. 20:07, May 1, 2010 (UTC)

Damage infinite?[]

Whats with the infinite damage signs by the DPS? --72.95.160.178 22:44, 8 May 2009 (UTC) Fucking vandal, trying to fix. Fat Man Spoon 22:45, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

More vandalism, somebody called it a badass mother-lover on the article page. I hate vandals.--Falubii 21:48, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

LOCATION ID[]

hey, anybody knows whats a location id for the place where magnum is? i mean i destroyed adams air force base but still wanna have this gun so i it to type in a console command "coc"

thx in advance, sydney roo

just use player.additeme

- I was able to find an ID, not sure it will work for everybody, but it works for me, so the ID is: 0700b806. I hope it helps you.

0500b806 worked for me??!?98.255.42.182 03:27, May 16, 2013 (UTC)

coc DLC03zCitadelPit is how to get in the location for the pc.

No Reward For Saints[]

Seriously Bethesda? No unique awesome weapon for the good guys? That really sucks hard shit man, I hope theres a glitch or something that can allow me to get this; first off, its associated with Dirty Harry a good guy (basically) second it has ten extra points of damage and third I like the Brotherhood and stuff so I chose not to blow up the Citadel, not even knowing there was an awesome gun buried beneath the Citadel! Eh, whatever, they better deliver in Mothership Zeta and give the good guys like a scoped, scillenced, Sniper Rifle or something; now that would be awesome--Shadowshudder 07:25, 25 June 2009 (UTC)shadowshudder

Who would want a sniper rifle when you could have some awesome alien technology and why could you be evil and join the aliens when they are after revenge on the humans?
Meh, most of the Brotherhood are not very nice anyway. They open fire on innocent ghouls and tend to look down on you when you attempt to speak to them. The only BOS members that are kind to you are Lyons and Cross. Most of the others are really arrogant. Plus the bad guys tend to get lame rewards in most of the other missions in the game anyway, so this is how they are repayed.--81.156.107.224 20:25, September 19, 2009 (UTC)
Gallows isn't arrogant, though. He just likes to keep to himself.
You're not thinking this through, if you attack the brotherhood, you lose a shop, several continuous quests, many significant characters, and make every brotherhood member become hostile to you. In fact even w/ all the things that you get from the base (alien pistol, Tesla cannons, the magnum, etc), blowing up the citadel is still a bad move even for an evil character. The Magnum is not the most amazing weapon and was only created to give some consolation to blowing up the citadel. --Clean Up 18:32, May 2, 2010 (UTC)
Dusting this topic off a bit, I guess it is a real gyp that you can't get this gun without being a backstabbing dick to the only people that'd viably help you take down a group of fascist, scheming, crooked killers, as Three Dog would call them. That's like saying "Oh, you wanna have the best small gun in the game? Well we're gonna need you to take out the closest thing you have to friends in the world!" then it's like, "You did it? Good! Now go claim your prize, you cold-hearted vestige." but after that, what next? Your character can either say, "Meh...I don't give a rat's ass about anyone but me." and move on, or you'll feel like a complete and total yutz, choose to be a better guide for those poor schmucks, load up a save prior to that, and this time do the right thing, so you can have some continuing quests and the major characters are still alive. Yeah, thanks for the REAL conundrum Bethesda. >_> --Christengo (talk) 04:56, August 30, 2013 (UTC)

Overreacting?[]

IMO, you guys are overreacting a bit. Ya, it would have been nice to have this thing, and if someone finds a glitch that lets you get it without destroying the citidel, I'd drop whatever I was doing in the game and get it, but its not that good. It's not like its the Mysterious Stranger's magnum or anything. It's just a Blackhawk with a bit more damage.

It is just a little dissapointing for certain collectors that want the most out of everything. The type of collector that will take weak unique weapons like The Break. The reason I could deal with having to take General Jingwei's uniform instead of Army mechanic jumpsuit or Initiate's Armor is because we are not supposed to bring back anything anyway, so I was happy with what I got. -James Andrew Walker

Agreed. If you are on PC you can use player.additem to get it anyways. This is the sole advantage to blowing up the citadel. The rest of it is being attacked by BoS paladins. Good characters do get a super weapon-- that weapon is called "not being blown to pieces by BoS paladins".
If you're getting blown to pieces by the BoS then you're terrible at this game. Amorality 00:15, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
Agreed. Spoon 00:19, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
If a brotherhood of steel paladin can kick your ass your probably playing fallout 1. Mr.75 20:02, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Yep, if you are getting owned by BoS I suggest more practice. Anyway, thats the price for a great weapon, more people who want you dead. (BTW, I think Amorality used that phrase as a fiqure of speech) TheMaintenanceGuy 19:37, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

Yes I am starting to realize a magnum with a pretty name and call it "unique" is not very special at all. --190.201.80.185 03:52, November 11, 2009 (UTC)

I believe mothership zeta allows you to aquire a scopeless .44 magnum correct me if im wrong.

Odd Skeleton?[]

In the area by Callahan's office, there is a skeleton with a fan on his crotch. A little odd, huh?--FlameWolf 23:55, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

You have got to be kidding me, First Werewolfhell, then ChaosWolf, and now flameWolf? Come on, let me guss another brother?--Bayonetta 00:02, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

Nope, this one ain't one of us. Captain TattyBoJangles Care to talk? 19:50, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

This is my first message on here so don't get mad if I mess it up, but I just made a new character (bad karma) for things like callahan's magnum and when I'm feeling bummed for being evil I just go to my good karma character, so just a suggestion.

...and then there was DisturbiaWolf... DisturbiaWolf13 18:37, January 6, 2010 (UTC)

Cross?[]

What happens to her if you decide to blow the citadel sky-high? 68.192.9.90 02:03, October 29, 2009 (UTC)

she thanks you kindly and gives you flowers before falling in love with you and making out with you.....WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK SHE DOES? you blew up her fucking home, of coarse shes pissed, shes no longer a follower and shell shoot at you 2, i suggest you empty her inventory before final mission if you want to keep your stuff u gave her....Toolazytomakeaaccount 00:06, November 6, 2009 (UTC)
Just needed to make sure 68.192.9.90 02:30, November 9, 2009 (UTC)

Make sure you empty her inventory beforehand, mostly because anything that is ..."Harmful" will be dealt with maximum Efficieny. I remember i did this, and she had the Glitched Gauss rifle. That was a painful death. she kept stunning me on the ground =P The loot will still be on her corpse btw. --Nosferus 02:37, November 18, 2009 (UTC)

destroyng the citidel[]

is it possible to obtain without destroyng the citidel.

No. Nitty Tok. 20:16, July 13, 2010 (UTC)

Console commands. Tezzla blah blah blah 20:17, July 13, 2010 (UTC)

Kinda silly that you have to take the BAD option to get the weapon owned by an (arguably) GOOD guy. :S LordSchmee 14:30, September 24, 2010 (UTC)

not really . use player.additem xx00b806 1 in order to have the gun if ur on the good side (Pc Version only) --User:Lorand_Nobodyknowsme/Sig

How do you enter console commands if you're not on the PC? That's right, you don't. The console is not a legitimate means of obtaining anything in game for the purposes of arguing that you don't need to follow a specific path to get it. --User:Deadlykris/Sig 11:56, October 1, 2010 (UTC)

you are right but some peeps just enjoy killing with tgm on and console commands on PC. For exemple I enjoy the storyline , shooting , watching the graphix , adding mods from fallout nexus and testing custom quests -- User:Lorand_Nobodyknowsme/Sig

Reference[]

Could it be possible that this is a reference to 'Harry Callahan' from the film 'Dirty Harry'? should i add it?--92.28.204.168 18:24, November 22, 2010 (UTC) ==It's already listed. Look under "Behind the scenes."--Gothemasticator 21:30, November 22, 2010 (UTC)

It is customary to shout, "Do ya feel lucky punk?" when drawing this weapon. --Valoopy sig Valoopy 21:44, May 17, 2011 (UTC)

Most powerfull weapon?[]

It says it is the most powerfull Small Guns weapon, but the gun that the Regulaters Boss wears (only obtainable by console commands) is better right?

Not if you can only get it by cheating, genius.

Ref Id[]

re item id - doesn't work for me, I am using console right, got 4 regular 44 mags as practice, but the code given does not work for me. I have GOTY edition, with Broken Steel, although I am not in the Broken Steel game now. Should the id code work at all times? Or is it wrong? 98.255.42.182 03:20, May 16, 2013 (UTC)

The first two digits of the ID depend on the order the DLCs load in. Do you have the right number for the DLC on your system? Great Mara (talk) 03:25, May 16, 2013 (UTC)
