You don't really ride it like the presidential metro[]
Sure you can climb aboard, unlike the Pitt handcar, but there's no animation sequence like the metro. It fades to black and you wake up on the same boat, now in point lookout. --BigMill 21:33, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
The very first time you go to Point Lookout there is an animation sequence where you look at the boardwalk which has a pack of dogs running across it, and you turn to see the Calvert Mansion and the Lighthouse right before you regain control of you character.--Moltenfungus 21:40, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
Storage[]

Travel Time?[]
Did anyone else notice that it takes about a month of in-game time to travel to Point Lookout and back?

Hi! Hmm. I think she's so slow because she's an amusement park ride that has been adapted by Tobar for ferry use. I base this idea on there being an amusement park at the location. Plus the fact, that in Real Life, in Oklahoma City's Lincoln Park, they have a similar type of water craft used as lake ride. I've not been aboard it, but I've seen it. Plus I think I've seen one or more like it in the opening credits montage for "The Wonderful World of Disney". But in the latter's case, it looked like a ride that followed a submerged guidance track, while in the former's case, it was not confined to a track, just the lake itself. So then it follows that as an amusement park ride, it wouldn't be fast, but slow. The idea of there being a sound effect to cover the actual engine or motor sounds makes sense if it is a steamboat imposter and not an actual steamboat. - As noted there's no sound in the 'Engine Room', only on Deck. I think we can safely conclude that the Duchess is nuclear-powered but for reasons best, and indeed only, known to himself (and eventually no-one, once he's dead), Tobar decided to expend a vast amount of caps fitting it with a smoke-machine and a holotape player (constantly repeating track 7 of 'Best Engine Noises of the Industrial Revolution').
