What a waste

"This perk increases Veronica's melee attack speed by 150% and gives her melee attacks a 25% chance to knock down enemies."

I suppose this would be impressive if Veronica were actually a melee fighter. She's not. She's an unarmed fighter. It's like giving Boone a perk that increases his proficiency with Energy Weapons.

Yes, I know you can equip Veronica with a melee weapon, but it seems an odd choice that they'd create a perk for a character that isn't even based on their primary combat skill. Melee isn't even one of Veronica's tag skills for heaven's sake. This should have been based on her Unarmed skill. 02:32, January 6, 2011 (UTC)

Jeez, guys. All unarmed weapons are considered to be melee weapons that use the unarmed skill, according to the GECK. This perk works with all of Veronica's unarmed weapons. Nitty Tok. 02:42, January 6, 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for clarifying, but you said you knew that because you have a GECK. Well, that's nice, but xbox players don't have that luxury. I'll also point out that the perk Unstoppable Force is described like so: "You do additional damage through enemy blocks with melee AND unarmed attacks." whereas Veronica's perk description reads only "melee attacks." Understand how I assumed the perk didn't affect her unarmed attacks? They ought to be clearer or at least more consistent with their perk descriptions. 08:20, January 6, 2011 (UTC)

On the page itself, it says "This perk will not effect Veronica's unarmed attacks." Is it confirmed that this perk does affect her unarmed attacks or not? Medeasin 13:48, July 11, 2011 (UTC)

I can confirm through personal testing that the perk does not affect unarmed. I gave Cook-Cook remnants armor and let the two have a go at it. I activated tgm and observed as Veronica beat him to death twenty times over half an hour. The end results were plenty of knock backs but zero knockdowns à la Super Slam. I then gave Veronica Chance's Knife to use instead of her default power fist. Cue the multiple knockdowns. 18:37, August 12, 2011 (UTC)

Assuming 13% crit by 3 luck, elite riot gear and 1st recon beret, she would get around 70 more DPS against low DT targets using Blood-Nap compared to Fist of Rawr with causeless rebel (or 20 more using machete gladius to keep the limb damage aspect) despite a melee weapon skill deficiency, and with the addition of knockdown control. Though if I were caring about her DPS that much, I'd equip her with a gatling laser, tri-beam, plasma caster or LAER. The point of putting her in close-range combat other than being ammo-stingy is for applying status effects (the scientist glove variants), and the crumple is not a waste. Since she refuses to equip a dress cane or any throwing weapon, I'd do like the above poster and go with Chance's Knife to give the best attack rate to put this perk to work, though a modded katana will give a significant boost to damage with minor impact to speed. -Furoar 17:38, October 22, 2011 (UTC)

+150% or +50% making it 150%?

Percantages are always tricky... Is it really +150% speed making her attack 2½ times as fast as normal? Sounds like quite an improvement.

Causless Rebel

Ah, but the important question is "does it stack with causeless rebel"? Meaning that she ends up with a 180% boost to attack speed, making the knockdown JUST that bit more likely to happen?

  • I don't know how late I am, but yeah, it doesn't affect unarmed weapons. The perk checks only weapons that use the melee weapons skill. As for stacking with Causeless Rebel, it probably does, just like Melee Hacker stacks with Slayer.--BSMaker 07:55, August 9, 2011 (UTC)

Veronica's unarmed skill

Heard she has 100 melee, is it true? -- 07:37, August 9, 2011 (UTC)

  • Her tagged skills are Energy Weapons, Science and Unarmed, so no.--BSMaker 07:49, August 9, 2011 (UTC)
