It wasnt til 2075 that it was decided FEV should be tested on humans. So Mariposa was built between 2075-2077. It was during this time period Vault 87 was altered from its original purpose and EEP instituted. The computer logs give evidence of this stating" My fear was the reactor was having a major malfunction, but turns out that it's due to a power draw that the experimental section is creating. Whatever they are using in there is WAY over the limit for acceptable power consumption." This may show that the Vault was altered and the experimental sections power consumption was higher than anticipated. Also "I'm told that Dr. Merrick is one of the brightest minds in the field of accelerated evolution, and apparently Vault-Tec agrees, because they've set up this Vault around him to suit all of his needs in the event that the bombs fall. All of his data and his work have been transferred to this facility from many important sources such as Mariposa Base, West-Tek and Vault-Tec Labs. I like Dr. Merrick. He's driven without being careless. He knows that in the event of a nuclear war, he may be the only person left in the world that can advance human genetics beyond where they are now." This shows that Vault had to be altered since Mariposa had too just been recently built, and Merrick having worked there in the past. The EEP was to create a breed of Super Humans that could have better survived a post nuclear war. That is why Vault 87 never received a GECK till the last minute, when its new purpose was established. Also Vault 87 is the only Vault that has two main hallways, that parallel each other, again supporting the idea of the Vault being altered and the experimental section added.--Wert1978 (talk) 16:28, January 13, 2013 (UTC)
