Icons[]

I have some questions: 1. How to add a new pin? 2. How to set a pin's tool-tip picture? 3. How to add a new category? 4. How to change a category's pin pic? 5. Are there sub-categories and how to edit one? Thanks!

Hello, I created 53 markers and today changed the map and I've lost everything, there are fewer markers than before

DONT USE custom links, every day is changing, dissapears ALL and new ones appears, but tomorrow it will change again. Yesterday i added 4 armors, 3 comics, and today are no longer, missing my 25 markers, Today comics links appear, but they disappear links armor

The map turned from a beautiful one with colored icons displaying separately all the items, vaults, villages etc... to one that has nothing but pins. Is there a way to revert it to the better one?

Hard to say who has done the changes. It is a free map for anyone to contribute. ☢ Energy X ☣ 20:09, November 23, 2015 (UTC)

I wouldn't assume it's vandalism - changes not "sticking" has been an issue with these maps since they were first introduced. Especially with pin/thumbnail images. DulogoDigital Utopia (talk) 12:45, December 2, 2015 (UTC)

Can't create/edit blue pins due to not seeing its "other" category not being visible in the list. 21:16, February 20, 2016 (UTC)

Engine sux[]

Unfortunately the map engine is rather bad... It is both very limited and very fragile. I spent a lot of time to add locations, create icons, link wiki topics a-a-and... one day I find it broken. Simply because it's very easy to break and very hard to keep it intact. There are already some fine Fallout 4 maps around the net and it would be a waste not to have a good one here.

Nah, the map engine is pretty damn flexible, capable of pulling off some nice stuff (my maps use the same engine). It's just another case of Wikia failing at any code that wasn't already written for them (i.e. MediaWiki, Leaflet.js, etc.). DulogoDigital Utopia (talk) 12:37, December 2, 2015 (UTC)

Please:[]

Done re-categorizing pins. As a result, tool-tip icons got broken.

If you want tool-tips fixed: PLEASE feel free to fix them.

If you want to mark your in-game progress: PLEASE use some other online map. There are already some with exactly this functionality.

If you don't like the categories (and/or their pin icons): PLEASE make better but PLEASE keep thing categorized. PLEASE don't just delete them

If you don't know how to edit the map but still you want to contribute: PLEASE create a test category of your own with some test pins just to see how things work. After you are confident with your map-editing capabilities, PLEASE add/edit real stuff.

If you want to do some vandalism just to feel important: PLEASE find some other place.

Settlement category and a couple of thoughts[]

To the one who re-categorized the settlements into other categories: are you sure it was a good idea to do this? Sure, now the map is more accurate, but it is also less practical. Having a clear sight at all settlement locations is quite important in FO4.
Personally I found it very useful that all the settlements were marked differently from other locations and I would suggest keeping it this way.
Other than that, this is a great map. Many thanks to everyone who created and filled it.

P.S. Also 2 more things:
1) The map's resolution is much lower than that of FO3 and FONV maps while certain areas are a lot more "crowded". I know it will sound crazy but I think that unless you can "stretch" the map, the new, bigger one should be created.
2) Another reason for doing this is that you decided to pin all the magazines, bobbleheads, fusion cores and power armor locations to the map. I'm afraid that when you finish it, the map will become impossible to use. Besides, I would also suggest pinning unique weapons and armor sets to the map as well since you already decided to go beyond the stuff pinned to FO3/FONV maps.

Thanks For The Update[]

Who ever just fixed the map from just the blue markers thank you. just having the blue markers makes it hard to see anything and know what im coming up on, thanks again. If you play fallout 4 feel free to join me on my ts server love hanging out with fellow gamers. ts31.gameservers.com:9231

You're welcome. Hard work but these blue markers need to be replaced. Can't play at the moment. It's too busy here and I gotta keep track on what's going on. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 17:12, December 6, 2015 (UTC)

would love to be able to chat with you if you get the time, not sure if you use teamspeak 3 at all but would love to see what your plans are.

Map markers[]

And all markers gone, replaced by blue ones. What happened? December 22, 2015

Someone deleted the pin categories. Restoring them is rather futile it seems for the moment. Work in progress for Wikia. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 13:05, December 22, 2015 (UTC)

I can't create blue markers for some reason. Only the red ones. 17:01, February 1, 2016 (UTC)

Districts, Towns[]

Would be great to have an ability to have an overlay for districs/towns. 19:22, February 3, 2016 (UTC)

Scale[]

This map really needs to be higher scale (ability to zoom in more). Otherwise it will be unusable. Could use something like a satellite map or a map with regions 21:45, February 19, 2016 (UTC)

Locations needed[]

Wow, March and still there is a lot of markers missing (like Cambridge crater for instance). Unfortunately, I am no good at doing this myself, because I don't want to invest the time to learn. Just sayin', would've thought that almost all were on there by now, and it needs quite a few added. HalloweenWeed (talk) 17:43, March 4, 2016 (UTC)

Needed:

  • Boston airport
  • Oberland station
  • Arcjet systems
  • That Child-of-Atom place in the Glowing Sea (and a few more places around it) HalloweenWeed (talk) 14:57, April 9, 2016 (UTC)

Recon Bunker Theta is missing on this map[]

Hi great map.

But I notice Recon Bunker Theta is missing

Bethesda's decision to put a line round the map that mostly follows the playable gives the impression that the Glowing Sea is "outside" the map when it clearly isn't. Also the south eastern corner of the map is inaccessible and then there's the little bit added on for the Nuka World terminal.

Would it be a good idea to indicate where the real borders of the playable are? In particular the south eastern corner should have the real border. Slimpickins (talk) 07:03, October 1, 2016 (UTC)

Missing Location[]

I could not figure out how to edit the map. I noticed that the Collegiate administration building was missing from the map (between College Square and Cambridge Hardware Store). 24.217.37.225 06:07, December 3, 2017 (UTC)

I'll see if I can get it added. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 13:35, December 3, 2017 (UTC)

Map broken[]

I can't access the map. Everytime I do, I get the error:

Can someone fix this issue please?

Union Man's Circle[]

There is an unmarked location just a little up and to the left of Relay tower 0BB-915 near the Fort Hagen collection of map markers on the main interactive Fallout 4 map. It's labeled as and links to Union Man's Circle, but Union Man's Circle is a location in South Boston, not on the Eastern edge of the map. What should be marked as Union Man's Circle on the map isn't even there either. Dragos Drakkar (talk) 00:37, 12 March 2024 (UTC)

Location has now been corrected. The previous pin near the relay tower is also an unmarked location but afaik it doesn't have an actual name. Thanks for bringing this up! FDSMDP (talk) 20:06, 12 March 2024 (UTC)
