Locations[]

It's beginning to get a bit lengthy. We need a better way to organize it. Maybe just link the location? And then add a fusion core section to the linked page? Hayhut (talk) 5:14, November 11th, 2015. (UTC)

Looks like it's an ammo type loot item. I've found them in ammo boxes several times, and weapons merchants stock them frequently as well. At this point, my guess is that it's classified as "ammo" and can be found anywhere you'd normally find Ammo in containers/loot or for sale. Looking through the list, the ones found in containers are probably due to that. I'd suggest limiting entries on the Locations list to ones where you remove it from a generator thingy (like when you get your first one at the Museum of History). Magiobiwan (talk) 10:27, November 12, 2015 (UTC)

Pretty sure that world locations are fixed, but they are indeed classified as ammo for vendors, Clara always has one in stock and goes around 430 caps. Having a table with the locations and numbers seems better than a lengthy description of them, add that they can be bought from vendors as well and iirc there's a perk that further increases lifespan besides the bobblehead. 132.254.81.2 14:57, November 12, 2015 (UTC)

I think we should investigate this further. I spent a little time yesterday investigating one and it didn't have fusion cores (unless they confused cores with cells) and I removed it. I suggest everyone to do the same. My hypothesis is all locations where its just loose on the ground or in a generator it's there for everyone. There has to be at least SOME containers that 100% contain it. Hayhut (talk) 15:45, November 12th, 2015 (UTC)

I can now confirm that fusion cores do spawn as normal ammo, I got 4 cores from an ammo box near the Castle that keeps re-stocking. 177.242.160.20 20:38, November 14, 2015 (UTC)

Looks like a bunch of ammo loot locations have made it onto the list again... Unless anyone has any objections, I'll tag them for "confirmation required" to make sure they're not guaranteed spawn locations. I'm thinking that the only locations that should be added are Generators where you can get them from (where you pull them out), and any CONFIRMED guaranteed spawn loot locations (if multiple people found some in a specific container). Maybe list specific vendors where they can be purchased (in my experience the specific number that can be purchased varies for each vendor). Perhaps an infobox could be added to the Locations Section to tell people to only add those locations? Magiobiwan (talk) 23:58, November 14, 2015 (UTC)

Maybe there should be a separate article for generator locations and guaranteed spawns, as I've come across 4 or 5 generators and I haven't done very much exploration at all. If all of those are added, the article will likely be very bloated.--161.115.36.64 04:18, November 15, 2015 (UTC)

Just removed an entry for "10 cores in boxes north east of Fort Hagen in ruined barracks". Upon confirmation attempt I found the boxes were each full of at least 10 cells. Not cores. Durza --63.228.59.248 04:17, November 17, 2015 (UTC)

Went looking for the "Four can be found in an ammo box in a master level locked trailer at Fiddler's Green Trailer Estates" entry. This is most likely referring to the North East trailer that can be unlocked with key from the leasing office's safe. Although I did find the partial T-45 suit with a core in it I did not find 4 cores in the ammo box. Just ammo. Did not remove the entry but this is looking more like cores are very rare ammo. (Wonder if scrounger perk affects this?) Maybe a note added to the article to increase awareness of this and decrease false/unconfirmed location reports would be appropriate. Durza --63.228.59.248 05:05, November 17, 2015 (UTC)

Cores will randomly spawn in the green ammo boxes. I just got 4 cores in the ammo box outside Concord when you get the power armour off Preston on a fresh game. I've always hit that box and only got 10mm ammo from it or shotgun shells. Removed the mention of Forest Groves Fusion cores because I just went there on my main game 10 luck level 75 and only got cells and .50 ammo. JoeCarr --141.163.66.131 15:47, December 2, 2015 (UTC)

I would like a second opinion but I think we should also remove all instances where the cores are found as drops off of sentry bots because under notes it already states that all sentry bots drop 2 cores. I'll gladly get rid of them, I just wanted someone else to confirm that this sounds like a good idea. Stretch27 (talk) 06:33, December 3, 2015 (UTC)

Yes, they should be removed. Item pages are generally supposed to list locations where an item can statically be found sitting outside a container in an area. Great Mara (talk) 06:36, December 3, 2015 (UTC)

I would like to see all the fusion core locations edited out. Fusion cores are like Nuka cola quantum. They are mostly random non level dependant spawns when lying loose or found in most containers. Unless its in a fixed or confirmed location such as a generator or bunker, they should not be included in the notable loot section...IMHO. StormRider71 (talk)

Not sure what waystation this is referring to during the quest Reunions. Needs more information.

Not sure if the fusion core in Weston water treatment plant is in the eastern hut like the article says it is.

I never saw a fusion core under the left set of stairs in Back Alley Bowling, a more specific location is required.

I have been unable to find fusion cores in Back Alley Bowling, the "house on the outskirts of Jamaica Plain" (checked through all houses I could see with no results), the Nuka-World access tunnels, and the Walden Pond gift shop (highly likely the user who added it just had a random spawn). If other people are also not finding pre-set cores in these locations, they may need to be removed. Furthermore, Angry Anaconda and Safari Adventure seem to be a repeat of each other as only one core was found around those areas. Removal of Safari Adventure may be needed, as Angry Anaconda is the map marker the core is closer to, if others cannot find an extra core. user:ZAXLover 08:55, October 3, 2021 (EST)

Location organization[]

There should be a few sentances as to where they can be found and how they can be obtained. Locations should belong on the actual location pages. Do you see our .45 ammo page look like this?--Kingclyde (talk) 07:37, November 19, 2015 (UTC)

False information in notes[]

"Companions require fusion cores for the gatling laser but energy is not drained from the core."

This is false. I tested it with Piper, and she used up the core, switching back to her 10mm pistol when it was out.

The article's been updated, this "bug" has been fixed by the 1.2 patch fyi. Mateos81 (talk) 22:46, January 8, 2016 (UTC)

Fusion Cores in Ammo Boxes[]

I just wrote that fusion cores could be found in ammo boxes across the Commonwealth, and I think it would help that if you find a place where fusion cores spawn in ammo boxes, please mark down this place on the Ammo Boxes section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.58.51.3 (talkcontribs). The problem with that is that cores in ammo boxes are random loot, so individual ammo box locations are different for different playthroughs. --Alfwyn (talk) 17:31, February 20, 2016 (UTC)

Scrounger Perk[]

A note says that fusion cores are affected by the Scrounger perk. However, it is not in any of the leveled lists associated with the perk and I've never seen any increase in the rate/amount of cores with the perk maxed. I'm removing the note unless someone can verify cores are actually affected by the perk, but I can say with 99.9% certainty that as of patch 1.4 they are not. -- DeJuanNOnley (talk) 05:04, March 1, 2016 (UTC)

I can confirm this is correct. Fusion Cores are not on the Scrounger levelled lists. --171.96.183.111 12:50, March 2, 2016 (UTC)

Sentry bot[]

What sentry bot carries more than two? I've been through two playthroughs and all I have encountered are only carrying 2.--Kingclyde (talk) 02:12, March 9, 2016 (UTC)

Walking[]

Walking doesn't drain fusion cores of their power. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 101.183.63.94 (talkcontribs) 09:44, April 29, 2016 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

TX-28 Speculation?[]

Are we sure that TX-28 MicroFusion Packs are the same things as fusion cores? That seems kind of like speculation with the lack of any documentation. (BillyH666 (talk) 05:20, October 8, 2016 (UTC))

Recharging[]

Is there a place or way to recharge fusion cores? I have several at different charge levels, and it's kind of a pain to have to keep scrolling through them to find the lowest charged when I have to move a power armor frame out of the way to work on a different set. I haven't found anything in the game so far. Unless you can pop them back in the generators you find them in. CO 41st Corsairs RCT (The Black Hawks) (talk) 06:07, October 21, 2016 (UTC)

Locations Still Needs Cleanup[]

I'm not removing entries until I can verify that they are non-fixed, but several of these seem to be non-fixed locations (random loot) even though this was discussed in 2016. Also, the ability to loot cores from power armor is mentioned twice and I'm not sure it belongs in the table or the note below the table. -- DeJuanNOnley (talk) 06:38, July 21, 2018 (UTC)
