Got rid of Info box..I didn't think it was necessary. TheLoneWanderer2 11:05, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Just curious, since when is this skill called "Guns?" I thought Firearms was a much better name; Guns just sounds so...bland - MaulYoda 19:15, June 17, 2010 (UTC)

Apparently it was in the Pip-Boy in one of the videos. Firearms sounds better, yeah. Nitty Tok. 19:23, June 17, 2010 (UTC)

Exactly, is view in 1Up live video. Removing " Big " and " Small ", it's rest " Guns ". It doesn't bother me more than that. Itachou [~talk~] 19:28, June 17, 2010 (UTC)

I'm not going to rant about it and I'll put up with it; it just sounds stupid. Big Guns and Small Guns were one thing. But just Guns? I just don't know why they changed it - MaulYoda 02:09, June 19, 2010 (UTC)

Well if it's anything like Fallout 3 then big guns will be fairly hard to come by. In Fallout 3 if you focussed on Big Guns it was far too difficult at the beginning, since the only weapon you could really get ahold of early on was the minigun. Which was shit.--94.171.184.82 23:45, October 16, 2010 (UTC)

We already know that the selection of Big Guns in New Vegas is much wider, and with them falling under more logical skill categories it means that you won't have to work up a skill you're not using. Plus, there's no good general-purpose Big Gun in Fallout 3 except the Gatling Laser - the Minigun is only good for medium range, missile launcher for medium to long range stationary targets, Fat Man for special purpose, Flamer for close work, Rock-It Launcher for a juvenile giggle (lol I'm shooting teddy bears at people!) and with Broken Steel, the Heavy Incinerator for medium to long range. --Kris User Hola 01:08, October 17, 2010 (UTC)

Related Perks[]

The link in the info box for Conccentrated Fire is for the Fallout 3 version, not New Vegas. I don't know how to edit, so I just thought I'd point this out. --MoronicCinamun 17:13, October 23, 2010 (UTC)

Specifics[]

So, Guns affects Sway and Spread outside of VATS. Does it affect hit chance in VATS? [Yes, greatly. --cjs]

Also, does your Guns skill affect Sway and Spread regardless of what weapon you're using, or only if the weapon you're using requires a Guns skill higher than what you currently have? [For sway, all weapons; this is most noticeable when using a scoped weapon outside of VATS. --cjs]

For example, the Service Rifle requires 25 Guns skill. If you have less than 25 Guns, it is said your accuracy will suffer (presumable by increasing the spread and sway). But if you have 50 Guns, is the Service Rifle any more accurate than if you had just the required 25? Servius 05:14, November 4, 2010 (UTC)

One question that occurred to me is if the Guns skill (or any weapon skill) has an impact on critical damage. As an example the Abilene Kid LE BB Gun has a DMG of 4 and a CRT of 70, but requires no guns skill to fire accurately. Would a critical hit with this gun do 72 or 37 points of unmodified damage with a Guns skill of 0? --Guest 22:03, January 3, 2011 (UTC)

Grunt isn't from dead money. It is listed so in related perks. 59.101.107.4 12:47, January 7, 2012 (UTC)

Requirements[]

How exactly does the guns skill requirement work? Say you have a .44 magnum revolver, with a skill requirement of 50. Will you have maximum accuracy and damage if your skill is 50, or do you still have to raise it to 100 for optimal performance? Will it do 100% damage, 75% damage, or something in between?Katamariguy (talk) 05:10, October 6, 2013 (UTC)
