Bug Question/Clarification[edit source]

The bug reference on the page doesn't specify if the bonus DT is only applied when explosives are equipped or if the bonus DT is simply additionally applied when any explosives are equipped. Can anyone clarify when it is applied? Just Sayin'74.77.132.100 03:53, April 6, 2011 (UTC)

I'm not sure if this perk works at all. Pip-Boy does not add DT. Damage are also not reduced. Tested with frag grenade and mercy. Rzeźnik 05:41, May 6, 2011 (UTC)

Perk not fixed[edit source]

I removed the following...

"Prior to patch 1.4.0.525, this perk was bugged. Rather than increase your DT versus explosives, it would instead increase your DT if you had an explosives skill type weapon equipped. New engine functionality in the patch allowed for this perk to be corrected, and it now functions as intended."

The perk has not been fixed. It does not function as intended. It's still bugged in the manner described. Stonewall too.--174.0.106.101 22:40, July 18, 2011 (UTC)

This is a display error. The patch added a new Attacker Weapon condition to the Modify Damage Threshold (defender) entry point, and moved the IsWeaponSkillType check from Perk Owner to there. This means the check is actually done on the weapon that just hit you, rather than your own weapon as it used to be. In testing it in-game, I can confirm that you do correctly gain the DT only against attacks from explosives-category weapons. The fact that the DT is still being shown based on your weapon type is still an error though, so I've added that.--SushiSquid 13:28, July 26, 2011 (UTC)

I just did some various test by letting an deathclaw hit me, looks like the game is making the correct calculations, but UI and "player.getav DamageThreshold" displays wrong, but the game takes away the correct damage. 217.157.131.97 03:32, July 27, 2011 (UTC)

This perk still appears to be partially bugged for me. For the test case where the player is not wearing any apparel and has no other DT perks except Hit The Deck, when the player is attacked by an NPC's explosive (in this case I had a Powder Ganger throw a grenade at me) the DT is applied (shield icon is displayed). However, when I walk across a planted explosive like a powder charge or throw a grenade at my feet, in both cases the DT was not applied (shield icon was not displayed). So only NPC explosive attacks seem to apply. BrokenDetonatorCollar 23:37, August 15, 2011 (UTC)

That's not actually a bug. Explosions from placed explosives use their destruction data explosions against the player (and no one else). This causes them to not originate from anyone and to not be considered Explosives. Since they aren't explosives as far as the game is concerned, this perk doesn't apply.
