Untitled[]

A horse actually has been mentioned once. Dane, the failed Child of the Cathedral in F1, says "I want a horse! I need a horse! Bring me a horse, dammit! A horse!" during his incoherent ramblings. 168.28.136.22 01:24, September 23, 2009 (UTC)

Possibility?[]

Would there actually be some sort of Horse-like creature in the Fallout world? I mean, surely they'd be heavily mutated, but still.

ncr "battle cattle" for calvary maybe? nightkin mention battle cattle sometimes and the comic showed mounted troops

Well it would be rather silly if they used Brahmin.

Gone or Forgotten[]

Unless it was clearly stated somewhere that there are no more horses, it would only be an assumption that they died out. It could contrarily be assumed that their omission is just an oversight when developers have failed to include them. --Xclockwatcher 16:21, July 23, 2011 (UTC)

haven't seen alot of things that may still be around somewhere ex: legion has apparently found some source of apples though no tree has appeared

Hey if fish are still around in Utah then why not horses? Odds are the midwest being less nuked than the costs would have more normal animals still living.

Chris Avellone[]

I e-mailed Chris Avellone today (1/23/2013) about the horses in All Roads and he said.

"To me, that picture in the comic was an error (no one noticed it until too late).

While the end decision is up to Bethesda as to whether horses exist in the NCR, it was never my intention that there were any horses, and furthermore, there were parts of the New Vegas design where we specifically removed the mention of horses from certain narrative points (one of Raul’s stories originally referenced horses, for example, and we cut them because we didn’t want to imply horses still existed).

I thought I was logged in when I made the edit.

English sayings[]

I've tagged the Horse page with a mention of this, but I would cast doubt on the relevance of including common English phrases like "hold your horses." Most readers who go to this article will be looking for substantive mentions of horses in the Fallout world, not countless examples of tangentially-related sayings. LaymansReign (talk) 17:16, 20 July 2022 (UTC)

Noting that the vernacular still exists well into the post-war era is relevant, because it is still common long after the horse's supposed extinction.--Ant2242 (talk) 23:56, 20 July 2022 (UTC)

Perhaps there could be a separation of sections, one for more direct references to horses in dialogue, one for image-type appearances (like the Flatwoods sign), and one for vernacular usage. LaymansReign (talk) 02:57, 21 July 2022 (UTC)
I believe it would be best to keep the actual notes in the "notes" section and to put all these "mentions" in a table by game. Which I have done but haven't finished because I cannot verify the randomized NPC conversations. Would you be willing to help? There is at least one Sally and Paulson conversation, one between two generic Pack members (there is no dialogue file), and a conversation between Supervisor White and Brown.--Ant2242 (talk) 03:23, 21 July 2022 (UTC)
