Can this perk be used to increase SPECIAL above 10, or does the game cap permanent SPECIAL points at 10? (I've been wondering this about bobbleheads too - i.e. if you create a character with 10 INT, and grab the INT bobble head, is the extra INT from the figurine wasted?)
- 10 is the max completely. Nothing can raise it above 10.-Accountless Avenger

Well, mostly you can use it to get the stats you want up high without sacrficing the others down to low numbers (but, as far as I know, Charisma is useless. Have it at 1, and other than difficult with speech challenges and store prices at the beginning of the game, before I increased those skills, I've noticed no difference.)Fiddlesoup 05:19, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

Charisma isn't as useful as combat-orientated attributes, but it does effect the gameplay in certain ways. Eg if you have fawkes or charon with you and you have low charisma there is a chance you will get attacked by certain friendly NPCs (Reilly's Rangers, possibly others?). I'm interested in how NPCs react differently to you depending on your karma and charisma (perhaps with a high charisma you are treated more friendly by other karma groups [except the obviously hostile enclave, raiders, talon company, etc]). There are also numerous charisma based speech choices throughout the game, although they dont do much, just earn extra items/caps or avoid combat. --188.8.131.52 11:22, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
So has anyone tested to find out if by "10" ranks, it actually stops allowing this perk after ten uses? I assume so, but I wonder if it is glitched.
So, has anyone else NOT realized that the perk can only be taken 10 times, which is so blatantly obvious you'd have to be be borderline-retarded not to understand this?
Anyway, this perk still has some uses. Swift Learner is garbage, as one can easily acquire the 10% XP bonus from sleeping in an owned or rented bed, but it's very easy to level up quickly to begin with. Daddy's Boy/Girl, Gun Nut, Thief, Little Leaguer and Ladykiller/black Widow are useless wastes of perks since you can easily raise your skills without perks and the results of the extra dialogue options that LD/BW provides can be achieved through other means, not to mention that an extra 10% damage against opponents of the opposite sex is really not useful at all. Until you hit level 5, the only useful perk is Educated, so why not fill in those empty levels with some stat boosts? Of course, with Broken Steel, you can get all your stats to 10, essentially making this perk obsolete, but it can help you get a few good perks before then by helping to meet the stat requirements. It's VOLUMES more useful than any of the other second-level perks. Blutteufel 18:55, October 5, 2009 (UTC)
Intense Training Fallout:New Vegas[edit source]
In Fallout:New Vegas you can actualy only increase each S.P.E.C.I.A.L. once using the Intense Training perk.
Edit:Actuly you can use it additional times but it will not grant any additional bonuses.

- Update: I've now got 8 levels in it, and raising my luck to 9 correctly raised all my skills by 1 (raising it to 8 did not, but this is correct behaviour) - either the OP was mistaken, or this bug has been patched. 18.104.22.168 04:50, May 31, 2011 (UTC)
Under the bugs section there is this:
"If you level up while still being in Goodsprings at the beginning of the game, and you choose this perk; then you won't be able to redesign your character without losing that extra SPECIAL point."
I thought that if you recreate your character, you gained the levels that you already earned.
Can anyone verify?

It starts your character of at level one again and then the additional experience you gained, so you will need to add that perk again to get the stat boost.
- this is true with nearly any perks gained at these levels, and there is a popular 28/34 perk bug (amount depending on addons or not) that takes advantage of perks that won't go away. 22.214.171.124 00:08, July 7, 2011 (UTC)
