Hey, I need help. I fast-traveled back to Tenpenny Tower after getting the Alien Blaster so that I could store it for later when I encountered Doctor Banfield outside of the door. I thought this was a bit odd since I'd never seen him outside before, so I walked up to him and tried to initiate conversation. Nothing happened, no activation button or anything. So I walked towards him more...and walked through him. He was an intangible dummy model, apparently. Afterwards, I went into Tenpenny and exited; he was no longer there. I just kind of accepted it and went about my business, stored the Alien Blaster away and went back downstairs. Then I went to the cafe to get some food. Doctor Banfield was in there, and as soon as I got near him, my game crashed. What happened? -- 16:38, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

He's been AWOL for me in two games now, too. I didn't notice/care that much in the first game as I helped the ghouls get in peacefully, and, well, of course he'd have become a corpse if he stuck around. In my second game, though, I killed the ghouls, and the good Doc has been been missing the entire game. Not a huge loss, but it makes stopping in to dump off loot at Tenpenny Tower an Assault Rifle or two less effective.--DoubleGrande 01:13, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

  • Banfield may be encountered randomly wandering around the Wasteland.
  • I've seen him wondering arounf Tenpenny Tower too, I followed him all arounf the exterior of the walls, seem he is trying to get inside of the walls but can't due to the door being closed. (PS3)GodsHand 20:16, March 18, 2010 (UTC)
    • This has happened on the PS3, GOTY version - Found his body outside Fairfax Ruins, near the house with the turret. 13:16, January 8, 2010 (UTC)
  • If you shoot Dr. Banfield's legs off in Tenpenny Tower the chunks will fly out but his legs will still be attached.
  • His right arm is actual just his hand, this has even been displayed on V.A.T.S..

Yes, Banfield has an AI package to patrol outside the tower at 6 in the morning, but so far as Fairfax ruins is strange, according to the patrol points he should not go beyond the main outside door. But since I met the antagonizer wandering just outside Megaton and a rivet City guard hunting ants in Grayditch I am no more amazed by the game AI. For Banfield, the wander package don't end, but he should return inside at worst on tuesday or thursday at 20:00 to sleep with Suzan Lancaster and restart his normal schedule the next day.Croquignol 01:39, January 9, 2010 (UTC)

Banfield Wandering the Wastes

I just had an unusual encounter with Dr. Banfield when I went to the ruins of Megaton. Out of the swirling radioactive dust, he strode up to me in his pristine white labcoat and told me that his clinic was closed but opened up all of the regular dialogue options (asking about ghouls, tenpenny, trading). I figured that the best thing for me to do was to kill him (because I read about other crash glitches) but after I did that and returned to Tenpenny towers, everyone was hostile to me. Happened on 360.

Is Banfield Mezzable?
