Anyone know why Burke's not in the Japanese version - or if there's a reason at all? Revelation-23 14:07, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Just a guess... but I'd think they were trying to avoid offending people somehow. Japan was the only country to have been attacked with atomic weapons so far in history. I wonder if you can get the Tenpenny Suite in that version, and if so how? ... whoops, just noticed the referenced article there " http://kotaku.com/5082637/bethesda-censors-fallout-3-for-japan ", but it still does not answer the question about the suite. 218.110.232.223 12:16, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

Makes sense, but at the same time... it doesn't. I'm sure there's a lot of stuff people might find offensive in Fallout, or many other games for that matter.
One comment made on that article linked you linked to mentioned something about playing a game involving Pearl Harbor from the Japanese point of view. Maybe if an American developer did that, but if it were a game from Japanese developers, it might not go over so well. Or if Wolfenstein 3D, Return To Castle Wolfenstein and the upcoming Wolfenstein were made by Germans instead of Americans. Something like that.
I don't know, maybe it's a double standard or something?
Revelation-23 03:33, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

It does make sense, the Japanese are the only people who actually got hit with one of these things, so they're really be pissed at it being trivialized in a game. I'm surprised they wouldn't get pissed about the mini-nukes; in fact all the people in Fallout 1&2 would be just as outraged, and I can't imagine anyone detonating one without getting torn to pieces and fed to the molerats.

It's paranoia and double standards - I can't honestly see how a country that produced guro, loli porn and machines with used high schooler panties can get offended at something so trivial as a nuke.

The fact that you consider sexual perversion on par with a nuclear attack from which innocent people are still suffering today is hilarious(ly sad). 162.83.143.90 17:18, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

Can't find Mr. Burke

I never found Mr. Burke in my game, and after disarming the bomb I'm worried that I never will be able to find him. Where does he go after you disarm the bomb? Did you have to have talked to him before disarming it? – Kentyman 04:08, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, I disarmed the Megaton Bomb too and Mr. Burke seems to have disappeared. He's not in his chair and he's not at Tenpenny Tower either I think. I talked to him about the bomb and I said no. I then disarmed the bomb. Now, I can't find him anywhere. Does anyone know where he went? Super Mario 126 00:17, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
He disappears. Kind of fits Beth's approach to gaming :( Shaur M. S. Grizlin 00:33, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
I think thats a bit harsh. It actually makes sense when you think about it objectively. The bomb being disarmed is no secret, and he's only there to nuke the town, he's got no reason to hang around. Agent c 01:57, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
Even if you can come up with some reasonable explanation for why he should disappear, there should be some way to find this out in-game. As it is, there are no dialogue options (with Tenpenny) about Burke at all. That plus the fact that Burke was Tenpenny's right hand man makes his mysterious vanishing seem more like a glitch than a feature.--TheSpoon 21:02, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
I don't see the problem with him disappearing; he's supposed to be a mysterious character. Adds to the mystique in my opinion (then again I'm just going on what you lot are saying, I blew him away at the first opportunity. I let him shoot Simms and then I shot him so I could get Simms' Chinese Assault Rifle ridiculously early in the game whilst getting rid of Burke who just plain annoyed me).

I would have just sent him back to Tenpenny Tower. I wanted to get back at him since I was out 100 caps because he had to shoot Simms.

He may have died on the way to the tower DragonJTS 06:19, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

Same thing happened to me. I disarmed the bomb, then went to kill Burke for his outfit, and he's gone. Also, my first playthrough, the hired assassins were at the Super Duper Mart, and had killed the Raiders out front, but this time, they were near Farragut station. So even though I didn't even talk to Burke, and instead went and disarmed the bomb, he's somehow sic'd his hired goons after me.T 07:35, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

i still haven't gotten it

So i'd used the black widow perk and got the extra 500 caps outta burke. i blew up megaton and have now been residing at tenpenny for a week, and have not gotten any love letters. Is it a bug? 209.247.21.25 00:39, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

He gives the love letters Moriarty to pass it on to you. Since Moriarty went kaput along with Megaton, you can't get the love letters. If you used the black widow perk and disarm the bomb. Burke will send love letters and Talon mercs after you. 69.156.145.163 05:42, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
I haven't received any after 2 or so days and used the perk. He's not at the tower either. Is it possible he died en-route? --User 03:26, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

No.Burke did not die.It takes about till the first Talon mercs(if you're good karma)come to kill you. Then it seems that he starts to send you letters.(it was for me at least. But he hasn't sent any hitmen after me)

If I bring Lucas to Bruke, let Burke kill Lucas, and allow Burke to escape, will I ever see him again at Tenpenny? I already know about the hit squads he sends. -TunnelSnake 22:54, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

Burke and Tenpenny

Just an interesting note, has anyone else noticed that they often sleep in the same bed together? I found them that way several times looking for Tenpenny for various reasons. That is one dedicated bodyguard.

i did too,but when i went back they were dead, and they're corpses were in a rather odd position(guess which?) Werewolfhell 19:45, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

Burke & Himmler

So I was watching the Military channel today (I'm a war nerd), and they were doing a series on Hitler (and a WWII nerd), and his various personal security things, during which they frequently talked about Himmler. They frequently showed photographs of Himmler, but one grasped my eye: [1]. Is it just me or does Burke bear a striking resemblance to Heinrich Himmler? EDIT: Forgot my signature. Dirk Gently 01:27, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

I have to say, the resemblance is striking. And both were compassionless mass-murderers. 99.6.39.6 17:21, September 8, 2009 (UTC)

Mezzing Burke

I tried several times to enslave Burke, unloading about 40 Mesmetron rounds onto him each time.. I cant tell whether the mezz frenzy result was successful or if Burke was just freaking out at being attacked.. A couple of times when I was down to my last few rounds, I got the exploding head mezz result. However, I wasnt able to enslave Burke by mezzing him.

As a side note, I thought it was interesting that Roy Phillips joined me in my attack on Burke occasionally. In the Tenpenny Tower quest, I chose to get the Tower residents to allow the ghouls to move in. Consequently, since Burke was the only human in the building that Roy left alive, I assumed they may have struck a deal for Burke to be Roy's assistant. 67.172.16.255 03:41, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

I can't get it to work either, I don't think you can. Fat Man Spoon 16:06, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

pickpocket?

The article says burke steals stimpacks from you, but I didn't think NPCs could pickpocket? can anyone confirm this? 207.164.136.6 14:26, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

The only time I've ever heard or seen of an NPC taking an item forcefully from you is if you had stolen it from them first, etc. I strongly doubt the section of the article which states that Burke will steal from you seemingly randomly. --The Incendiary (talk) 15:05, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

U get to hav MR burke as a friend durin the quest Blood Ties.

That Statement makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. The Daddy Banhammer.gif 17:38, September 27, 2009 (UTC)

Born in 2221?

Where was this established or mentioned? According to G.E.C.K., Burke is 46. Take 2277-46 and you get around 2231. I have removed the birth year until someone prove where it says he was born 2221 (like an official fallout site, not the 'Estrogen Brigade' where I saw 2221 as well, as it is incorrect as far as I see.

After

What happens to Burke AFTER you blow up Megaton?Bllasae 14:54, October 17, 2009 (UTC)

Absolutely nothing, he just wanders the top floor. The Daddy Banhammer.gif 14:56, October 17, 2009 (UTC)

Mr. Burke kinda reminds me of Agent Smith From the Matrix trilogy...--Baracuss 17:16, November 16, 2009 (UTC)

Clarification on Burke please.

It seems that no matter what I do, whenever the bomb is disarmed a hit is called out. Here is some of the plays:

  1. Agree to rig the bomb, then disarm it = Hit
  2. Agree to rig the bomb, then disarm it, then tell Sims = Hit
  3. Agree to rig the bomb, then tell Sims, then disarm it = Hit
  4. Don't agree to disarm it, kill Burke = Hit
  5. Don't even talk to Burke, kill Burke, disarm bomb = Hit.

The worst part of this is that the Talon mercs show up as non-hostile so by the time you get up to them and see them it is too late. I killed Burke, disarmed the bomb, then went over to the Super Duper mart only to be met by 3 Talon mercs and one Enclave soldier, all this at level 3! I did discover a cool way to kill the Enclave guy - he started shooting at me so I hid behind a tree which just happened to be right there. I continually kept the tree between him and me and as soon as he got up close we played chase around the tree. I got behind him and scored a critical hit with a lowly Combat Knife (dam = 7), and ended up killing him without taking a single hit. Too bad there are not more trees in the playing field... 192.18.43.225 02:54, December 10, 2009 (UTC)Alexi

i acctually only experienced hitmen once through 3 complete gameplays, but i believe that depending on your karma vault 101 will send out the talon company (different from hitmen), regulators, or both read the note that one or more of the mercs drop and see who is really trying to put a hit on you, im also fairly sure that Enclave can't appear at level three because you have to do the quest in which your dad dies before they even exist in game

Wierd

Uhm ok this must be the WIERDEST thing you've ever heard. ok uhm how do I put this?... Ok I just got out of the the citadel proceeding to rivet city for the replicated man quest and decieded to go on land when I was near the Citadel's gate there were 3 Mister Burkes Walking!!! I SWEAR I SAW THEM WITH MY VERY OWN EYES! Can someone explain this? (PC Version)

In for the long haul

Just how long was Burke waiting for the right person to come along to blow up Megaton? He has his own house there!

--Exactly, he has a house there, he has the pluse charge, why does he not just put the thing on there himself when everyone is a sleep, go back to Tenpenny, and blow it up, save himself the caps, and be Tenpenny Hero. Or even get Jericho to do it, and give him the suite at tenpenny tower. After all he was a raider once, and the only way to get him as a companion is to have bad karma.

Burke may not have a 25 explosives skill, and also if megaton was already blown up when you got there, there would be absolutly no plotline behind the entire main game because moriarty would die
I don't think Moriarty is critical to Fallout 3's plotline, since there are alternatives for moving on, not just limited to speaking to him in person. Tgp1994 20:02, June 3, 2010 (UTC)

Move?

Wouldn't the name of this article be better as "Mister Burke" instead of "Burke (Fallout 3)"? ~ Sentry Telos 12:17, April 1, 2010 (UTC)

It seems all the characters are named without their honorifics. The pattern is: Name "Nickname" Surname (A game in which the character is found if there already is an article with a similar name). Since only Burke's last name is known, that's how the page ends up being named. Other examples: Crowley; Edwin Brotch. There are redirect links to the pages if you type "Mister", so no confusion arises. --TheBearPaw 11:02, April 2, 2010 (UTC)
Fair enough. Telos 10:08, April 23, 2010 (UTC)

Disappearance

Turns out, he doesn't even have to be alive to disappear. I killed him, and his body disappeared from the game after I disarmed the bomb. 74.243.106.184 22:49, September 6, 2010 (UTC)

Burke and Tenpenny Tower

If ! seduce Burke and he goes back to Tenpenny Tower, can I still get the Suite there without blowing up Megaton? Btron4ever 00:28, October 17, 2010 (UTC)

Ok so...

I tried to get Moriarty to tell me about my father but he won't give so I go off and find Silver and take her money in peace. When I arrive back in Megaton Moriarty is...missing....

And I used the Black Widow perk to convince Burke to not blow up Megaton so he runs off and what not...

So since Moriarty is M.I.A can I still get love letters? Will there be hits??

So I seduced Burke and did not destroy Megaton and have received one love letter. Would he acknowledge our previous interactions if I were to visit him at Tenpenny Towers? Or would he become hostile since I didn't blow up Megaton?

Burke and Lachance are very similar

As a fan of both TESIV Oblivion and Fallout 3 I couldn't help noticing that Mister Burke is very similar to Lucien Lachance of Oblivion. Both NPCs are (at least, I suspect without verification) voiced by the same voice actor, I am 99% sure of this as I've played both games extensively. Both NPCs make offers to the player to murder and both are arguably lacking morals and compassion given their sadistic work. Perhaps this is worth putting in the trivia section if somebody can verify the voice actor for both NPCs is the same guy? 81.102.131.70 14:43, August 26, 2011 (UTC)somerandomer, 15:43, August 26, 2011 (GMT)

Firstly im really glad someone else is playing fallout 3 right now second they dont lack morals its just their morals are twisted and third they are da same actor
