Minor revision of the "additem" command

The article states, "To get Pa's Fishing Aid, use the console command: player.additem xx00D5B3 1 100"

As with all other items added via the "additem" command, it is completely unnecessary to add the "100" at the end. This simply tells the game to make the added item at 100% condition, which it will be anyway if no number is entered there. Therefore, the correct command would be:

player.additem xx00D5B3 1

I'm sorry... I must be extremely bored to nitpick about something like this. Still, it's good to know, especially if you use the console to add items frequently! P.S. Thanks for the code! Goin' fishin' for hillbillies soon... 07:23, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

hello everyone.i was stuck with the console command player.additem 0400D5B3 1 100 ,as i have the pitt,op.anchorage, broken steel and lately point lookout installed.so,i should use 04 as form id.but the damn thing finally wanted 03,not 04.it is the second item i get from the console,(i don t like to cheat in the games),another time i tried to spawn a slave collar to my inventory and it said it was equipped and noway i can find it. whatever,i suppose others have encountered this form id problem as well.so i hope this helped94.70.71.250 15:17, July 27, 2010 (UTC)

They should've called it 'The Boomstick'. 23:15, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Some claim it exists in-game... hope or hype?

I just found this weapon on an island far south of the lighthouse inhabited by a smuggler, I took a lot of health damage from the under-water trek there but I made it alive and found this along a wall atop a few ammo boxes.

There is no weapon there. 08:21, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
Aha, intrigue. One of these people is fibbing. But who? WHO?? (My guess is the one who didn't sign his post, right?) Time for a swim to find out, lol... any excuse for an adventure! 09:49, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
There's only one instance of this item "ingame" and that is in a test room which can only be reached via console commands. The guy is just making stuff up. -- Porter21 (talk) 10:09, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
I think there is a mod that places it there, so he wasn't trying to be malicious.-- 04:49, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

I'm typing in that exact line of text and it doesn't seem to work. Saying that object is invalid. Do you need the number values instead of X's?

Is it my imagination of does Beth just hate console players? Making some things available only by means of a code on the PC. Skill book in vault 108 comes to mind.

you got a very valid point, you know what i find even worse? on consoles its almost illegal to mod,yet on pc not only is it perfectly fine, they give the pc users a frigin system to mod!"aka G.E.C.K." they literally say, here u go mod away!offends the hell out of me....Toolazytomakeaaccount 02:30, October 16, 2009 (UTC)

1: The GECK would make the X360 keel over and beg for a quick death. The GECK is not some fancy extra level building fun thing, it is the actual assembly program they used to make the game (albeit with some bits they don't want us to play with stripped out) 2: You lack the interface: a keyboard and mouse. 3: Microsoft is the one that bars mods, not BethSoft. 4: The Playstation 3 can't have mods either because its basic system architecture is fundamentally different from the PC and X360. 5: If you want to mod so bad, get a game-grade PC. --MadCat221 18:41, October 31, 2009 (UTC)

Mods aren't available on consoles because the console manufacturers don't want to allow people access to something that might be buggy, and because the publishers' don't want to be liable for things like naked body or ultra-violence mods. I'm sure there are a lot of developers though that would like to make mods an option on the consoles. User:HunterZ(talk) 19:27, May 29, 2011 (UTC)

Is there a reason it says that you repair this with combat Shotguns? I thought this was a unique double barrel shotgun...

This pure speculation, but: I'm surprised this weapon is repaired with Combat Shotguns. More interesting, it doesnt make the Double-Barreled Shotgun sound when shooting, it uses the sound from the Combat Shotgun. Is it possible that the Fishing Aid at one point during PL's developement was ment to be a unique "Combat" Shotgun, the only "double-barreled" variant of the Combat Shotgun? That Beth at a later point thought it would be better to add a "normal" version of the Fishing Aid? Cuz it does make some sense to me: PFA vs. TerrShitgun --> Terr would do massive damage, have only one shell used per shot, semi-automatic but with terrible spread, the PFA would be twice as ammo consuming per shot, manual reload, but with the same damage and less spread (more useful at longer ranges). Is it not even possible that Fishing Aid once was named Double-Barreled Shotgun as at that time it was ment to be the only one? As mentioned before, this is speculation, but it looks to me as if Pa's Fishing Aid is incomplete (it is fully functional, but perhaps not according to Beth's intended designs). Anyway, I used GECK to make a .esp which replaces the Combat Shotgun sound with the Double-Barreled sound version (first time I used GECk for something that actually works). --Radnus 20:50, November 5, 2009 (UTC)

Overpowered, but fun.

It has Terrible Shotgun power at hunting rifle distance. Devastating to Super Mutant Overlords in a sneak attack. Use it outside of VATS. Was able to sneak-kill two Raiders with one blast. I guess this is what the elephant gun from "Tremors" must feel like.

Is it for PS3 consoles too? im just asking

Possible intended location?

I was compleeting the mision where you first meet the hologram of calvert's brain, and I noticed a boat in the water with a bunch of pre war money and a double barrel shotgun+ some shells, The named gun is called pa's fishing aid, and finding it in a boat does imply use for fishing, I think it is plausable that the intended location for pa's fishing aid was in that boat. 04:46, October 1, 2010 (UTC)

That's a good theory I think; the boat seemed to be the focal point of that (large) part of the cave, yet without the gun there's nothing else of real value/interest there. User:HunterZ(talk) 19:24, May 29, 2011 (UTC)
