Untitled[]

I was able to get access to the Quantum X-01 armor before completing the main quests by finding 35 star cores. I found the 33 at the park and other areas then did the Hubologist quest to get the 34th one and found that one in the barn. However, that quest is apparently bugged; I could not complete it because a protectron spawned inside a large pile of trash preventing me from clearing the site of all bad guys (He was there on the pipboy but could not be touched). On a hunch, I fast-traveled away and returned. The protectron spawned outside the trash pile and I took him out. When I went back to the barn, a new star core had spawned where I had picked up the 34th one. Sure enough, it worked and the power armor was mine.

Lore[]

So, the US Army somehow had X-01 power armor in 2077 and gave it to Nuka Cola... When the armor was created by the Enclave AFTER the Great War. Not a complaint, I love this power armor. But Bethesda kinda dropped the ball on some of the lore points in Fallout 4. I admit, it's a great game and I'm nitpicking, but they've had a lot of inconsistencies with previous games and lore and whatnot. I hope the next fallout game, either made by Bethesda or hopefully, Obsidian Entertainment, avoids such lore inconsistencies.

Only thing said by the game about the X-01, is that it was made by remnants of the US military after the Great War. Either way, its creation is stated to be after the Great War. Great Mara (talk) 15:52, September 7, 2016 (UTC)
Nowhere is it stated that the X-01 is Enclave. Paladin117>>iff bored; 16:29, September 7, 2016 (UTC)
It's stated in lore from previous games. With fallout 4, they retweaked and contradicted a lot of previous lore. User:Scarlet_King_Venellam
But the X-01 hasn't been in any previous games, Fallout 4 was its first appearance. Paladin117>>iff bored; 01:44, September 8, 2016 (UTC)
One of the FO4 loading screens makes the Enclave connection pretty clear: "The X-01 series of Power Armor was specially engineered and employed by remnants of the U.S. military after the Great War, and offers increased protection over the older, pre-war models." --Jacknicholson (talk) 13:51, September 13, 2016 (UTC)
Remnants of the US military. The Enclave and Brotherhood weren't the only remaining military left after the Great War. Saying that is proof is supposition. Great Mara (talk) 18:07, September 13, 2016 (UTC)
Supposition - perhaps - but it is obviously the Enclave Advance Power Armor MK-I just from the appearance of it. There is no need to justify the existence of the armor in Nuka-World by assuming there is some unknown post-war military remnant. Bethesda has said (well Hines has said) that they allow their level designers to do what they want when they design, even when it contradicts canon. So, yes, the X-01 at Nuka-World contradicts the canon but Bethesda feels that contradicting the canon is acceptable. Players can also make all kinds of bizarre head canon decisions about how it might have got there after the war if they need. --UnimportantHero (talk) 08:50, September 17, 2016 (UTC)

Is it a prototype?[]

Seeing as it is a unique paintjob that cannot be applied to other X-01 suits, would it be safe to list as a prototype to the x-01 armor seen in the commonwealth? (BillyH666 (talk) 23:44, October 7, 2016 (UTC))

The only thing the terminal entry states is that it took an already existing suit of power armor and modified it with the Quantum isotope. Great Mara (talk) 23:48, October 7, 2016 (UTC)
True, but it's also listed as being engineered and fielded by remnant's of the US military after the war, and given the exclusivity of the paint to this specific piece of x-01 armor and it's location, it's reasonable to assume. However, as the terminal entry does not mention the armor specifically of being a prototype, even reasonable assumption would be speculation, as such, I will not change the article from it's current state. Thank you for your response. (BillyH666 (talk) 23:52, October 7, 2016 (UTC))

Contradiction[]

" Although X-01 Mk VI parts can be found on the various leveled power armors scattered around Nuka-World, the Quantum armor is the only complete suit that is guaranteed to spawn with such high-level gear. All others are capped at Mk III just like those in the Commonwealth. "

So which is it? can you find MkVI parts or only MkIII? --Katikar (talk) 20:19, October 27, 2016 (UTC)

  • It seems that with Nuka-World installed, all tiers up to and including Mk VI parts begin to spawn on all incomplete suits everywhere at very high Sole Survivor levels (100+, I guess; I'm currently at 140). Previously they were capped at Mk III, just like the few sets that are guaranteed to spawn complete (like the one in Court 35). This cap still appears to hold true for complete sets, though. Sorry for the confusion; I've been wanting to correct that for quite a while now but didn't find the time yet. I did so now. Sumatris (talk) 05:49, October 28, 2016 (UTC)

Project Cobalt[]

This page should mention the armor's connection to Project cobalt. According to https://fallout.gamepedia.com/Project_Cobalt "the glowing blue compound could store incoming energy on armor as well as amplify the default energy of munitions". Also, according to https://fallout.gamepedia.com/Quantum_X-01_power_armor "Quantum X-01 power armor provides superior protection compared to standard X-01 power armor; while it grants the same amount of radiation protection, it grants over 35% more ballistic protection and more than 50% more energy protection." And according to terminal entries, "we've even used the Quantum to enhance one of the military's power armor suits"

Are these stats correct? +35% Ballistic resistance and +50% energy protection? Or does it only provide AP refresh? BrentNewland (talk) 07:57, June 30, 2018 (UTC)

The connection the Vault has made is speculative. If you check the terminal entry used as a reference, it states that the isotope was used to enhance a suit of power armor, not the Quantum X-01. For all we know they enhanced a T-45 somewhere. Sakaratte - Talk to the catmin 08:14, June 30, 2018 (UTC)
