None of the shooting skills are pre-requisite and the description is a bit vague on whether it would or wouldn't apply to the skills that don't specifically target the head. Does it increase likelihood of head strikes for unarmed/melee/grenades? I doubt it, but it would be good to have this confirmed. --97.81.77.13 19:08, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

It does not-Accountless Avenger

NOTHING increases the hit chance of melee weapons, unarmed attacks and grenades because you can't target specific body parts with those methods. You shouldn't even have had to ask this. Blutteufel 23:29, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

[fallout 3]This perk is REALLY good if you're a VATS abuser since all non-robots and robobrains take double damage from headshots, throw in a critical that's 4x damage, Amazingly useful-Accountless Avenger

Is it true that this perk is a good job that's challenging work and is outdoors? Joebucks 11:48, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Don't think you'll get along with your dad, though. 15px-Scribe.jpg Tagaziel (call!) 13:13, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
Well, that's a small price to pay for always having food, guaranteeing you'll not go hungry. I could do this all day, so I'll just end it here. Joebucks 13:55, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

This perk is very good for shooting drunken scottsmen in the bottles while they are drinking! --85.0.87.169 21:51, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

100% Chance to hit head?[]

If I use Commando, (+25% Chance to hit) Sniper (+25% chance to hit head) and Wired Reflexes (+10% chance to hit) Does this mean that when the hit percentage when I select the head is around 60%(ish)the true one is 100% (unless of course, the enemy is behind the wall...)? So if the % to hit is 60% I should always hit. Is this true?

Well, first of all, the perk changes the displayed value when using VATS. So if you had all those perks, and the displayed chance to hit was 60%, then your actual chance to hit would be 60%. However, you could get that 60% value while shooting from much farther away than you could without the perk.
Also, a shot that had previously been 60% in VATS would be 100% (although it would display as 95%), but not the way you said. Like it says in the article, the bonus is multiplicative, not additive. So, it would be 60*1.25*1.25*1.10, for a total chance of about 103%, not 60+25+25+10 for 120. Of course, even a 100% chance doesn't actually mean you'll hit. The enemy could always walk behind a wall, or maybe your companion will randomly run in front of you while you're shooting. The game can't really take these possibilities, which is why I think it only displays 95% chance to hit. It doesn't want to display 100%, just in case you miss because of outside factors, it doesn't want you to think the game cheated you. --Honeybunch 20:47, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

I don't really understand what you've said, sorry. Do the accuracy perks work behind the scenes so that even if it displays a 60% its actual chance to hit is 103%. Or does it work in a way that if without the perks it displayed 60% with the perks the hit-chance would be raised and displayed as 95%. I hope that makes sense, it's just something i've always wondered about as even when I have a relatively low chance I seem to hit more frequently since taking this perk. 81.158.59.167 16:42, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

It would raise the display that you see to 95% with the perks. If you would normally have a 20% chance to hit, and took a 25% increase perk it would show as a 24% chance in vats instead of 20%. (25% of 20=4 which is how much gets added on It adds 25% of the number you see, it doesn't add a flat 25% which would have made it 45% and be totally crazy hehe). You can see the difference when you take things that increase it for specific weapon types like gunslinger. Pistol accuracy in Vats will show much higher then with weapons not affected by the perk. It's an easy way to test/see the difference for yourself.

Working Weapons[]

Is it working with every ranged weapon or only for sniper weapons?

"It may not be worth taking this Perk if you don't use these weapons on a regular basis." This sentence is horse shit, this perk works with any weapon, it doesnt only give the boost if you use the aforementioned scoped weapons.

lolz, how stupid can a person get? half of the decent weapons that are actually practical to carry utilize this perk. Sure a fat man wont use it but most people (i said most) dont use a fat man to kill mole rats. The perforator, sniper, scoped magnum, and gauss rifle would be enough of a reason to get that perk even if what the idiot said was true. But because its like the commando perk(albeit including one and two hand weapons) it doesnt matter with the scope since you dont use a scope in VATS. Sorry to reiterate what the above person said but i figured this might be clearer. --FLaSHBaCK HaSH 02:23, April 27, 2010 (UTC)

Funktionality on PC[]

Is this perk now functional with the patch "Fallout3_v1.5_English_US.exe (50 MB) 04/28/2009" or is there no PC verson existent yet on whicht this perk works?

"(ed. Can you explain this better? Perk descriptions states that it is increased by 25% which is additive. Other perks state something like "+10%". Multiplicative means that perks will multiply. So instead of only 10% + 10% = 20%, multiplicative means that it's 10% x 10% = 100% increase!!!! That is impossible.)"

10% times 10% is 1%, not 100%. 10% is .10 and multiply that by itself and you get .01 or 1%. What this means for a perk is that it adds an additional 1% (10% X 10%). --Kris User Hola 18:12, September 17, 2010 (UTC)

Fallout Tactics[]

Can someone confirm if this perk is really broken? because it seems not: http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3648 --   ryzawy  (talk)   22:19, February 3, 2011 (UTC)

Well that thread has only one test done in it. The results where that with sniper perk 50% of hits where criticals, without it only 25%. But since he didn't mention how high his luck was during the test, his results are useless. Out of curiousity i just made a test myself with a Luck of 10. According to the article 100% percent of hits should be crits. Results in game was far from 100%. Cant bother to do a larger amount of shots and write down the results, but the exact percentage of crits doesn't matter anyways, because every single shot should have been one. Seems that either the perk is broken or doesn't work as described in the article. So unless somebody has a good explanation. I propose adding a note that the perk is bugged in Fallout Tactics. (note to everybody, doing a test himself. It seems you cant crit at all on your own squad in first mission)--81.198.217.251 15:50, May 30, 2013 (UTC)

The perk is in fact bugged, which the main article now mentions in the "Bugs" section. An alternative fix for that bug (and many others) can be done by installing the "Fallout Tactics Scripting Engine" from the NMA forum: https://www.nma-fallout.com/threads/fallout-tactics-scripting-engine-0-50a.216025/

However, there is another unknown case with the Sniper perk in FO:T; The perk only works with specific weapons, unlike other games in the series. Those are the weapons classified as "Long Range", ie the Hunting Rifle, Sniper Rifle, M1 Garand, Gauss Rifle, etc. You can read more about in this post: https://www.nma-fallout.com/threads/fallout-tactics-scripting-engine-0-50a.216025/page-5#post-4346413 - Wakko 45.135.187.113 15:55, November 2, 2020 (UTC)

Ranged weapons: all or only Small Guns?[]

Does this perk affect all ranged weapons, or only Small Guns? (Fallout 1 and 2)

It affects all ranged weapons. --Kmkzipedestrian (talk) 19:35, January 10, 2013 (UTC)

Whoever said that there is no such thing as a stupid question...-
