direct to Sunset Sarsaparilla star bottle cap article

Is it just me who thinks the detailed walkthrough should instead point to Sunset Sarsaparilla star bottle cap, rather than listing every possible location? Seems stupid to have to maintain 2 articles. For reference, the Nuka Cola Challenge article doesn't list every possible Quantum... -EllEzDee 13:45, October 29, 2010 (UTC)

Force assissination after collecting 50 caps?

Anyone know if there is a way to force the collector assassination attempt after collecting 50 star caps? The refid or actual name of the collector might be enough. ElvisDumbledore - eschew obfuscation 03:35, November 1, 2010 (UTC)

Is it accepted that this even happens? I've been trying to trigger it all sorts of ways, and whoever this collector assassin is, he won't show up. Esker 17:55, November 21, 2010 (UTC)

Quest Failed?

The whole "Failed = Completed" thing doesn't make any sense at all. Are we sure it's not a bug?

imo its a bug. if it is a quest there should be a way to complete it, even if it means losing out on the follow-up. otherwise why name it a quest? my $0.02.  Dr. F  (Talk) Home 12:02, November 24, 2010 (UTC)

I bet the quest includes the assasination attempt, but that the assasination attempt only occurs after you have 50+ caps but before you give them to Festus. Thus, if you turn in your 50 caps before the assasination attempt, you can't complete the quest anymore, and thus the "failed" message. Servius 19:36, November 28, 2010 (UTC)

According to GECK the quest can only fail, there's no complete option. -- CompleCCity (talk) 13:18, 3 December 2015 (UTC)

Festus shuting down (Bug Fixed)

Ok, so after depositing 50 Star caps, Festus is supposed to shut down permanently, right?. Well, in the last update for the PS3, this "bug" (I guess it was a bug after all) has been fixed. The player can still interact with the annoying cowboy-like robot after failing (or completing) "The Legend of the Star" and "A Valuable Lesson". Every dialog option is available. Not sure if this goes for the Xbox or the PC.... -ivc392 11:58, December , 2010 (GTM -03:00)

This is a joke, right?

I stumbled on this "hint" in the article:

"An even simpler, less time consuming, and less cap consuming method would be to go to Scorpion Gulch, kill all of the Radscorpions and then go to the center of the 'Bowl'. There should be a dead Prospector/Wastelander that has a Sunset Sarsaparilla Star Bottlecap on his body. Due to a glitch, the man respawns every 72 hours. Simply fast travel to the gulch, get the cap and fast travel out. Wait 72 hours somewhere else, return and repeat."

Like you ask to Festus, this is a joke, right? How searching the Stars caps is time consuming and this is not??? Is much more simple killing Malcom Holmes (6 caps), Tomas (9 caps) and Jacklyn (2 caps), then collecting the rest. You will stumble with A LOT of them in the course of your journey without having to deviate from your path or do a specific search. If you go hunting for the skill books, for exemple, a star cap is usually in the room or next to it. Just do the math and you will see that in no time you will have the 50 Star caps. • It never fails to amaze me how people will post these type of “hints” thinking they stumbled upon the best kept secret in the wasteland. On another page someone posted about getting the perk for killing 100 robots by going to Nipton and killing the one Mr. Gutsy that respawned there, wait 72 hours and repeat. These kind of things are just idiotic. There are more than enough star caps to get this eventually and the same is true with robots. ReapTheChaos 22:41, May 30, 2011 (UTC)

Another hint?

"The story Festus tells upon completion of the quest is based upon a story that was sent out to children who sent in wrappers and shares many common elements."

Could this potentially be another 'hint' to one of the dlc's? In particular, the Lonesome Road one which includes Ulysses; because it discusses how the two couriers share common "elements" per say. Ossified 04:43, April 19, 2011 (UTC)

i don't believe the “failed is completed” thing~ i use the fnvedit to look inside the quest. found these :

“Head to the Sunset Sarsaparilla prize closet to receive your real prize.” “SSHQPrizeRoomDoorREF [REFR:00103DF6] (places dlcanchoffbigdoorred01 "Door" [DOOR:00105967] in GRUP Cell Persistent Children of SSHQ01 "Factory Floor" [CELL:000FF7D1])”

it's the “the legend of the star”,it's the “prize closet” not the“lesson” not the “prize vault”
