Thin red paste and blood sausage refers to 1988s Wastland. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wasteland_(video_game) The game was known for such combat prose as "Rabbit is reduced to a thin red paste" and "Thug explodes like a blood sausage"

Thin red paste drops from animals, blood sausage from humans from what I've seen. Both only offer a health boost, no food or water etc. They have a low weight in hardcore, unsure about normal mode.

Additionally, this is a "get rich quick" perk, as each item is worth a lot. Paste is 350 and sausage is around 250. Getting that on every other kill can earn you a tidy sum of caps quickly, even ignoring the hefty health boost.

I've had blood sausage and thin red paste drop from both humans and animals interchangeably. 06:11, August 22, 2011 (UTC)
