I may just be dumb but I am totally trapped. I just finished the spacewalk, activated the engine core teleporter and now nothing. I can't go backwards or forwards and the teleporter doesn't work. >

Also having this problem. Trapped by locked doors and a non working teleporter, and the walkthrough isn't clear about the beginning of this quest.

I'm having the same problem, only I can go back. everyone is standing in the middle of the room with the view down to earth. Anyone figured out how to move on?

I have the same problem as the guy above me, i can go back, but not past the room with the window on the ground... i can't figure out how to open the door in this room at all...

for me, every thing is going well until i get into the room with the window, then everyone stands around for a while then SOMETIMEs sally will say "silly me i should be getting the door" or somthing like that, then she crawls into the duct, then the alien head pops up, the beam shoots, then nothing happens. she never opens the door, anyone have a solution??

i can't get passed a certain door because it says i need a key i didn't get or something i need help

i reloaded a save before the space walk, and now it works just fine... i didn't talk to anyone until she opens the second door, so maybe that fixed it?

which version (pc/xbox) are you playing? i was locked to until i went back and went straight from 3rd generator to the airlock. this time the npcs popped in when i activated the stepping disc Dr. Clayton Forrestor and now im still stuck. it say i already have access to the bridge??? drat! (PC) if you are stuck and dont want to start over try to get sally to open the door to the observation deck before they all go running down to the door(inaccessible) below the observation deck stepping disc. if not no big deal. no-clip (tcl) the first door and unlock the second (both console commands). you will miss the captain's Big Giant Head routine oh well. they will be waiting at biological research or you can take the door to weapons lab for the destabilizer and the atomic pulverizer. be sure to talk to everyone in BioRes b4 going to death ray hub, you have to go through it blind (we really need a walkthrough for the weplab/bio/deathray part). please let me know if this works out for you and post changes/errors. Wonderful, I'm stuck after Sally opened the first door because every time the Alien Captain speaks and fires the Death ray all objectives are set as accomplished except "Kill the alien captain". Is there a way to fix this using the console?

(PC, patch 1.7) I have the same bug, all objectives suddenly complete bit after Death Ray is fired, except "Kill the Captain" .... very annoying. Reloading wont help. Same thing happens over and over. Would be very grateful if someone figured out how to fix this quest in console.

Hey guys, I have a problem with this quest. When i walk into the room with the big glass floor, and sally leaves for opening the door number two, she just don't open it...what should i do?? I play the add-on on PS3!

I figured out[]

the solution to fix all glitches on the xbox 360. Go to the dashboard, make sure your still signed in, find system settings, click memory, hit Y button, clear cache, hit yes, then restart game, allow game to update. load your game and all bugs should be fixed72.29.43.174 16:08, July 21, 2010 (UTC) Edited august 20th 2013- this doesnt work. Enemy Alien Ship Possible Easter?[]

Okay this is seen at the ship you need to destroy in this mission.... Right when you kill the Alien Captain, two or more aliens will appear and attack you. Now, when they are killed, your band of survivors appear.... This is the epic part, when the hologram head of an alien appears, immedietly go to the front, where you see earth... Look up and you'll see the alien ship spawn... Look at its Death ray and you'll see 2 huge aliens that looks like Abominations inside....--BloodOmelet 20:05, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

I noticed that. The ship is apparently a lot larger than normal. They seem to have scaled up the size of everything about the ship including its occupants. I don't think that's an Easter Egg though. ok i have a solution to many of your problems if you are on xbox and downloaded all dlc (downloadable content) try deleting all but the mothership zeta note that this will get rid of many of your objects from other quests but this is the only solution i found

Stuck in Outer Space[]

I completed the final quest and then realized I missed 2 alien recordings, I left the bridge only to find locked/inaccessible doors. Luckily I had a save game from Living Quarters before entering the Bridge. However, the teleporters don't work, and I can't even go back to the Bridge to return to earth since I exited the Bridge after destroying the enemy ship. Even with more DLC's, I won't be able to reach them with my current character. --tompreik [XBOX] 07:42, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

After reading the bugs involved I was finally able to get back to earth after reloading earlier save games. However, my oldest save is in the Living Quarters, and I have to return to the Engineering Core to get the 2 last Alien Recordings. I can teleport back to the Death Ray Control/Hub, but I can't get passed two doors force field locked doors inside the hub. if you can get back to earth then yes this is intentional. we are given 1 and only 1 chance to get the recordings and then we get limited access to the ship. upside is aliens respawn in the prison block to engine core segment (source of spare parts). Dr. Clayton Forrestor

Glowing orange bug[]

The bug which makes your weapons and pip-boy glow orange may carry over saves, I was playing a character who was experiencing this bug after returning to earth,later I loaded another character to play who hadn't done any mothership Zeta missions and their weapons and pip-boy were also glowing orange. Has this happaned to anyone else? (Xbox 360) - RASIC 23:37, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Yes this has happened to me on the PS3. I loaded the save before I went to the ship and my Pip-Boy is orange.

The Welcoming Party?[]

I noticed that when I arrived back in the wasteland Dogmeat and Charon Came running to me from the distance. But i know before I left to go do MZ I told them both to wait in my Megaton House. Mabey Completing the MZ stuff resets their placement? Or mabey they were just worried about me. Also I dont know if someone already said something but it if you look at the World Map while on MZ it claims you are over Megaton. --24.6.230.5 07:09, September 6, 2009 (UTC)

Happened to me when I left them at Tenpenny. My world map said I was over Rivet City. I suppose it's orbiting and it changes places, or it just randomly glitches with the world map. (360) --Pratstercs 20:48, November 9, 2009 (UTC)

New Glitch?[]

I am at this mission right now. However, it seems to be glitching, in that at random times in a mission, it will declare that I have disabled the deathray, and it commands me to go to the Alien Captain. What is going on, and how do I fix it? --129.15.127.223 00:10, September 19, 2009 (UTC)

Well you're supposed to get to the bridge of course. You can tcl to the right teleport if you can't get there otherwise

this is in fact the next step. to go through the two doors. you can tcl both doors or tcl 1st and click the 2nd in console and type unlock. take the stepping disc to biolab OR the door to weaps (recommended). you will not have a guider as your goals are marked complete. for S's & G's you can look 4 samurai along the way. How do you get off mothership zeta??[]

I went into the teleportation matrix but landed at the engineering core and the other teleportetr is powered down help?????

when we have defeated the alien mothership, we must speak to our victorious crew (re: beacon). then we may proceed abaft (just behind) of the bridge to the stepping disk (pardon my niven) centerline (toward the middle of the ship) of the alien bed to port (on your right facing rearwards) as this leads to the beacon and therefore the capital wasteland. checklist = finish battle zeta vs othermothership; talk to crew; use rearmost matrix/disc. Quest Name Note?[]

Shouldn't there be a note for the name of this quest? I guess the phrase is just so well known that you don't think about the reference. I could remember that the line ("This town ain't big enough for the both of us") was from a western, and IMDB says that it's out of "The Western Code" from 1932.

Exploding PC during the last part of Mothership Zeta[]

this is retarded

im on the last mission i gotta blow up the other ship or something except i cant

why? because i blow up....

i literally blow up after 37.01 seconds after my reload(i timed it)

the explosion sounds like a frag grenade and it doesnt com from an enemy, when i isolated myself in my most powerful armour with no enemies around i blew up and died even when i had full health and its on very easy

after that, i kept exploding more and more often then the game simply reduced itself to reloading the auto save, exploding, reloading , exploding, and continually doing so until i shut off the ps3.

AND the last thing i see before i explode is like 15-25 aliens clustered behind the the captain's seat....

is this a bug or does it mean the enemy mothership blew up our ship? has anyone else had this problem? this is unbelievable. it looks the game went crazy... i just wanna get this sh!t done with so i can start point lookout help please!!!!

you need to go back to a previous save. the aliens have beamed aboard your ship and have inundated the bridge. i did that once, warped out and came back later, instant death. sally survives, of course, but no-one else. you blow up because the enemy ship has defeated your shields. start again and kill captain, initiate combat with other-mother-ship, set shields on high when dealing with boarders, and enjoy the show. sometimes a save is untenable. Im doing the quest this galaxy ain't big enough... and after i reactivate the teleporter i can't go anyfarther.. I get into the room after the teleporter when i let them all in.. and nothing is happening.... and i dont have any recent saves.. and im gonna be super mad if i have to start a new flippin character just because i can't go any farther. She went through one vent and opened the door then we're at the second room. All the videos i've seen she comes and talks for a few seconds then goes through the next vent. Am i missing activating something?? I just wanna get back to earth. These flippin aliens have been such a headache.

Stuck![]

Im stuck on this mission. Im stuck in the second room you go into and I've been stuck there for hours. After i did the decompression thing and went into the room and let everyone in we go into the next room. now ever part of the walk throughs I've seen show you walking in then sally going to the next door through the vent to open it up while this big alien guy comes and yells at you. I'm stuck at that part. Everyone is just standing around being dumb and nothing is happening. I don't have any earlier saves because i never really thought of having backups incase something like this ever were to happen to me. Right now i wanna get back to earth without having to start the whole frikin game over again.. anyway i can redo a part without having it saved?? Please help me I've got such a headache. I just wanna go back to my atomic-ravaged-rader-filled-lovable earth!! Oh, and before i went into that room i went to the engine room again and found some valuable stuff i could carry off with me because i figured i was getting close to the end. Could that have messed me up a bit? Anyway. PLEASE HELP!!

if you are using pc follow instructions above to no-clip (walk through) the doors and proceed. if you are on console i cannot help. as you can see this is a common problem and will not be addressed by bethesda anytime soon. Dr. Clayton Forrestor 17:27, December 12, 2009 (UTC)
I was stuck here and figured a way past it on 360. I tried pushing Sally, restarting, etc. My problem was Somah wasn't teleporting with the rest of the followers, which didn't seem like a problem at first. She has the second line in the cutscene and it seems to get stuck unless she is there to talk. What I managed was right after I finished the space walk, got recompressed, and turned on the teleporter, I activated it, teleporting back to the engineering core. All three were there waiting for me but didn't go through yet. When I went back to the upper part of the ship, all three followed, including Somah. Sally made her comment, followed by Somah, and lastly Elliot. THEN Sally crawled into the wall, the angry alien appeared, Somah came to talk to me, and the game continued. Can I get on fallout 3 on my computer then do the door thing then go back to xbox? or do i have dreams that aren't possible? And.. whats the best thing to do in this scenario if i can't fix it?

Biolab Teleporters Are the Bane of My Existance[]

I'm currently at the end of the Biolab, where I am now standing before three teleporters. Two of them are active (but not working), and the one to the bridge is off and also not working. I believe that I am supposed to use these to continue with the mission, since that's where the quest marker is residing. Is there any way to "ghost" to the bridge and forget this malfunctioning teleporter nonsense?

disable deathray. one of the discs will take you to that mission. battle your way through it and the bridge will be accessible. the other (i believe) leads back up to the entrance from hard vacuum section. Dr. F 04:28, February 8, 2010 (UTC)

mothership return?[]

Think there's a chance of those burned out space ship remains being found by a character in a future fallout game? They've certainly set it up well. That and a chance to find a huge smoking creater across cleveland and denver.A Pickering 17:13, February 21, 2010 (UTC)

Bugs needing confirmation[]

Bugs needing confirmation shouldn't appear in the article text - this is what the Discussion page is for. The following has been moved from the article pending confirmation:

  • Sometimes in the observation deck, right after the space walk, where you have to activate the teleport pad, it is already activated when you get there, therefore making it impossible to call Sally and finish the quest.(Confirmation needed?)

I got myself stuck after comleting the spacewalk and returning inside. I was supposed to activate the teleport so that Sally & co. could follow me and we could proceed through the locked door...well the teleport seemed active already when I entered the room through the airlock and nothing happened. After 15-30min of screwing around I gave up and started googling the solution. I found that you need to remove all the add-ons(extra content) except mothership zeta and brotherhood of steel for this problem to fix!

Deathray = Bad Karma[]

So I noticed that we have 4 control buttons in the Deathray control room. 2 of the buttons alternate it's trajectory, and on the other panel one opens the reactors, and the other fires the death ray. So, if you aim the deathray at the earth and fire, why don't you lose karma? Has anyone done this and followed with the rest of the story? Does it effect any of the game in dialog choices or anything? I'm going for good karma so I saved before i blew it up just to see, but thought it was odd that I didn't get bad karma for blowing a hole in the earth. lol --musicfeind2001 98.235.222.22 17:57, May 3, 2010 (UTC)

Bridge Controls Damaged?[]

Hey I was wondering, has anyone else saw their Bridge Terminal smoking after finishing this quest? It's the terminal that Elliot stands next to. I think it only smokes if you take a certain amount of damage, so I might go back and perfect the battle lol.

okay i dont know if it is a glich or if i am not doing something right.This Galaxy Ain't Big Enough start where you just get done space walking and Right after you push the botton to add air so you can take off your spacesuit.the next room with an alien and the teloporter. the teloporter is already on and the people dont come threw even if i push the activate thing. so please tell me if i am doing something wrong

i posted the im stuck please help about the teloporter already on. i loaded some old save files yesterday and i still when i got to there it was on. today i loaded another save and it was better and i could compleat the alien story

I'm at the part where there are three teleporters, one of which takes you to the Death Ray Hub. All three are activated, but none of them are working. Did I miss something or is it a bug?

You could've gotten your stuff at the very beginning of the DLC. This is why you explore everything and search through everything in games like this. All of your stuff is in a storage container in the last room before you leave the holding cells. It's on the left if you're leaving the holding cells and, obviously, on the right if you're entering. Xbox360 Mothership Zeta not working[]

Xbox 360 Mothership Zeta not working at all I cannot get abducted at all no matter what I do nothing on the internet is helping. 2015-I have the same problem just delete the doc and download again hope this helps

Fallout 3: PS3 Please help me im on ps3 playing mothership zeta and the door is locked to the bridge. the teleporter seems to already be on and when I press the activator, nothing happens so im alone, and the door is locked what do I do?

no way to aim the death ray?[]

I noticed it says in the article you can aim the death ray at earth, and it'll create a big crater. I wanted to try this, just to see what it looks like, but there's no way for me to aim the death ray, it just fires off into space. Are the aiming controls available after the final battle with the other ship, and if so, are they available only on certain platforms (I'm on the xbox)? Obax42 (talk) 20:27, May 28, 2016 (UTC)
