Erm, so this is the discussion page right?
Apperantly(?) there isn't anything here so I'll just go ahead and ask for some speculation. Do anyone think the trogs will have different ranks? Like mirelurks, hunters, kings, Super mutants, brutes, masters, behemoths, Feral ghouls, roamers, glowing ones.
I don't really know of any good fallout community, like a forum, so I thought it would be best to ask here.
I suppose it is possible, but if it is, what would they be named? Trog, Pale Trog, King Trog, Trog Behemoth? I guess we'll find out... - Five Dog 21:17, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
How do we know that Rockopolis is a Trog settlement? For all we know they could just be humans that are living underground in order to avoid the chaos of the capital wasteland. I don't think they're ever specifically labeled as Trogs.--Grandmaster Chen 21:00, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

Haha yeah, I thought the same! I must say though, these Trogs ain't very interesting. Aren't they just Feral Ghouls that crawl, look human (intact skin) with a golum/smeagol look?
- what the hell are you talking about trogs are totally different from ghouls, trogs have skin, they arent rotting, as far as we know thier bits and pieces still work properly, the only thing they have in common is the fact that they are mutants and have similiar coloring, trgos and ghouls have about as much in common as mount rushmore and an easter island statue
- Trogs also act and kill very differently
Just letting you know there has been a lot of vandalism to this article.

Seems like the Trogs won't bother you if you move around in sneak mode, I've walked right by a whole group of them and they did not bother me. After some more play time, I found some will still attack, but hey, avoiding most of them is still nice. SpellChecker 17:01, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
Do trogs respawn? In the steel yard or the abandoned apartments?

The Van Buren and The Pitt stuff needs to seperated. It seems Bethesda did not use much more than the very basic concept of Trogs being light-sensitive creatures, hence the history bits etc from Van Buren and the Pitt content do not really fit together. -- Porter21 (talk) 14:52, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
Trog in fallout 3 but not in the pit[edit source]

- Frag Mines and Bottlecap Mines are excellent for killing Trogs, since all Trogs are melee fighters.
- Trogs lack the ability to use firearms. They will sometimes try to sneak up behind the player, but most prefer to recklessly charge their target head-on, making them easy pickings for fast-firing weapons.
- Interestingly, Trogs respond to melee damage much better than they do to bullets.
- The player can often find large groups of Trogs snacking on a pile of human remains. These packs can often be avoided because the Trog's attention is diverted toward their meal and not to hunting. Alternatively, these groups can be more permanently dealt with by tossing a grenade into the centre of the pack. Even on Very Hard, a player with a decent Explosives skill can deal substantial damage to the pack.
- Shotguns are very effective against Trogs, as they often kill any variant of Trog in one hit. The Terrible Shotgun in the hands of a skilled player can quickly and easily dispatch a room full of Trogs.
- Players with high Energy Weapons skill and the Metal Blaster (from collecting Steel Ingots) can often get multiple kills with one shot when facing groups of Trogs, since they fight in packs and on several occasions are in narrow hallways. If a player has a low energy skill they can wear the Metal Master Armor (which is also recieved from collecting Ingots) which will improve their energy weapon skill by 10.
- If the player has a weapon capable of blocking, it should be used. Ranged weapon users will end up backpedaling.
- Using V.A.T.S. to target their heads is very effective.
- Sneak Attacks will usually put down any Trog with the exception of Savages in one hit, depending on difficulty and the player's skill with the associated weapon.
- If the player has the Broken Steel DLC, and if the player decided to get the Slo-Burn Flamer, using it against trogs will quickly kill most types of trogs, however this depends on the Difficulty level. Low difficulty characters should use the Flamer in close-combat situations as it will bring down Savages. Higher difficulty players, well, should be able to use any weapon effectively and the flamer can still be effective, but caution should be taken as the trogs can shrug off some of the damage and still get within melee range.
- If you finish the "Free Labor" quest and disable the floodlights, after meeting Wernher, DO NOT go back to Uptown. You will be attacked by dozens of Trogs of ALL types and they will chase you even to a new area once you are seen.
- Players with the Mothership Zeta that have gotten the Destabilizer or an Alien Disintegrator can quickly dispatch Trogs with headshots.
Trog who was happy to be killed?[edit source]

I'm not sure, but I do think I understood them saying nearly incomprehensible things. For example, when one was attacking me, I swear I could have heard "must feed" and when I killed one, it said "thank you".
It's just a hypothesis, but I think trogs are able to communicate, although barely.

They speak quite articulatly for feral mutants. The say food, feed, thank you, free, finally, truly free
The Dart is mightier than the Bullet[edit source]
I visited the Pitt after having helped the Outcasts with Operation: Anchorage so I had the Chinese Stealth Suit and a high Sneak. Two things I learned, one is that if Trogs get close they will notice you even with 100 Sneak, Shady Hat, Chinese Stealth Suit and Silent Running are being used, the second thing I noticed is that a single dart from a Dart Gun drops them by the time they can reach you. Still knowing that a Dart Gun makes the difference means little when first entering the Steelyard. I've had a few glitches with my game not awarding damage during VATS so it's possible that a glitch is killing Trogs with one shot. Please confirm.
Bug: Invisible Trogs?[edit source]
It seems that in my game, Trogs are invisible. I do have some mods, but none that affect Trogs, I checked. Is there a fix for this? Also, VATS can't target them at all. --Herley 03:10, February 19, 2010 (UTC)

Wonder why Billy isn't mentioned, John-John's brother (when you first enter the steelyard, you overhear John-John trying to talk to Billy, but Billy attacks him. You can save John-John, who is labeled a normal slave however, by lockpicking a door and shooting Billy, who is labeled a normal Trogg).

Trogg Genocide[edit source]
Okay I was just wondering, since you can't turn the lights back on after you turn them off on the last mission, is it possible to just kill all the troggs without them respawning? Or would they just spawn and spawn? I want to know because i was always interested in using uptown but it's overrun with Troggs. guess i could just try to go in there and blow them all to bits and when they lower my health enough, my Nuclear anamoly perk would kill a lot of them but still if they respawn, I would hav to kill them all over again. so if you could please reply. thx in advance
