The bottom of the page says: "In a small Merc camp on the North edge of the crater are a locked personal footlocker and a safe (both rated easy), both with random loot. ... There is also a small Enclave camp between the crater and the Merc camp, according to the terminal you find here, they are studying the crater (and maybe searching for alien technologies)." I found the truck and alien cells, and an Easy footlocker and safe just 20 feet south of the truck, inside the crater. I did not find any camp at the north rim, or any Enclave stuff (nor any terminal). However, I was set upon by three guys in Talon armor, all named "Hitman", in a ruined building NW of the crater with the truck with alien cells. This is on the PC... did anyone else see the merc and Enclave camps? -RedKnight7 22:56, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
- I have. The Merc camp is stationed just outside and in Fort Bannister (perhaps the directions in the article are wrong? It's been awhile since I've been there, so I couldn't say.) and the Enclave camp is up and just outside of the crater.--Niksilp 19:47, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
When I exited the power station after my first visit, two Brotherhood Outcasts and a non-hostile Protectron crossed paths with four Raiders around where the Brahmin are grazing nearby. Not sure if it's random or triggered by exiting the power station for the first time. --188.8.131.52 06:17, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
This is neither a random encounter nor is it triggered by leaving the power station. The Brotherhood Outcasts and Outcast Protectron are there already; this area crosses the path they are walking (in both games of mine I have found them here, and followed them to take their armor when they die). I found them down the road the first time through (and followed them past the power station), and in my current game they were walking past as I was about to enter the power station, so I turned around and ran off to follow them.
I believe the enemies are random, based upon your level. In my first game, when I was following the Outcast trio, we ran into Raiders. I was around lvl 6 at the time, iirc. This last time (just a few minutes ago; since this is my "thorough" play-thru, I wanted to check the wiki to make sure I didn't miss anything), we ran into two Giant Radscorpions, and there are no raiders in sight. I'm currently lvl 18, which is why I believe the enemies to be based on your level. - Fembot G.g3 19:47, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
Warping to this station places you inside the fence. Move to the south-southeast-corner of the fence and look directly south-east up the hill. There will be a random spawn or encounter, which happens in the moment you spawn. I saw, three brotherhood-guys, slavers, a wasteland-trader with brahmin and (two) trader dogs, a supermutant (it was uncle leo), and three brotherhoods fighting a deathclaw, Talon mercs (killing all the cows ?). All of them moved down the hill towards the station and then followed the road westward.
DEATH CLAWS AT VAPL -58 POWER STATION?!
in the bugs section, the wording suggests that there is a no clipping mode in the xbox version, is this true?
The layout section states:
“A fallen transmission line tore down a hole in the fences, making it possible for players to exit the Power Station without using the front gate.”
No offense to whomever wrote that section, but is it really necessary to state something so obvious? I mean do you list every hole in every fence to let people know they can walk through the hole? Not to mention that its right next to the gate, which isn’t even locked! Now if the gate had a hard lock and the hole in the fence was behind the building or someplace less OBVIOUS I could see listing it as an alternative entry point, but seriously, what is the point of this statement?
At least edit the statement to read properly. “tore down a hole” would be better written “tore (or made) a hole (or an opening)” and it should be “fence” not “fences” Also, as dumb as it would be to do so, you can also enter not just exit through it, just jump from the car onto the power line. Quest Marker Frozen On VAPL-58
During the Scientific Pursuits quest my map marker, usually pointing to an unmarked spot in the southwest of the map, became stuck on VAPL-58 Power Station. This occurred upon exiting through the ladder to the roof, and then leaping off the structure. The World Map marker remains in the unmarked location in the southwest of the map. This is perhaps a general map marker bug as opposed to a bug specific to VAPL-58 Power Station, but as it occurred there I am documenting it in its Talk section here. 184.108.40.206 15:51, January 26, 2011 (UTC) Sean
