On my first playthrough I blew up megaton without talking to almost anyone. Moira will spawn after the nuke is set off no matter if you have talked to her or not before you blow up Megaton.

shhh

Bugged after rivet city history

If you become bugged after completing the rivet city history part of this quest (ie. Moira won't stop asking if you've found out about it) you can work around it by going into the colsole and typing:

set "00014e96".ms03c1 to 4

...WITH quotes this time.

Worked for me, thought I should let others know.

Yep, bug happened to me. Apparently it comes of asking pinkerton twice. on xbox 360 so nothing I can really do about it.

lol'

I had this problem on Ps3 the only way i found to continue the quest was to lie to Moira

Molerats.....

killed 10 Molerats like it said but she still kept the repellant stick....

New Vegas reference

The wasteland survival guide is obtainable in fnv. It uses the same model as it does in fallout 3, and boosts your survival skill by 3. 74.132.1.90 21:45, October 24, 2010 (UTC)

Wrong Book Version

I completed all optional objectives and eventually obtained the Survival Guru perk as expected. However when I read the book description under notes it was described as "...a wealth of knowledge for wasteland survivors of any stripe" however it also went on to say "...its usefulness is only slightly diminished by rambling notes on the minutia of wasteland species." I don't see this as a bug on the wiki page, so is this something new? It's quite discouraging after all that work for it to give me the wrong version of the book. I just heard Three Dog announce the book on the radio and he described it accurately as well, so the only bug is with the note added to my Pip Boy.Ricky Cactus 15:13, February 4, 2011 (UTC)
And now I've come across the special encounter and it's the one that you get if you complete most of, but not all, the optional parts. It's certainly not game breaking and I did get the proper reward, but this is just annoying having about half the world reacting the wrong way. Ricky Cactus 21:04, February 6, 2011 (UTC)

I have a quick question

By skipping some parts of the quest with your skills, do you still get a bonus for doing the optional stuff?

The Robot Factory.

Hi! I somehow completed the quest without repairing the computer in the robot factory. I've been trying to repair it anyway, but without the active quest, that's not an option. So I came here looking for a Console Code that I could use to retcon the quest has having been completed by repairing the computer. Is this possible? Return to Moira with injuries

this part can easily be done by jumping off over the fence outside her door one or several times
