The Tesla coil is a miscellaneous item added to Fallout 3 in the Broken Steel add-on.

Characteristics[]

The Tesla coil is the last component to the Tesla cannon.

Location[]

The Tesla coil can be found in Olney Powerworks, inside the central reactor. It is protected by an electrical field which can be turned off by the three surrounding switches. Alternatively, there is a room next to the coil with a remote access terminal inside requiring 75 Science to hack. That terminal releases a failsafe that turns off the electrical field.

Taking the Tesla coil before turning off the electrical field will cause the player character to lose a significant amount of Health.

Bugs[]

You will take shock damage if you did not turn off the switches and a message will pop up saying something along the lines of "Tesla coil added", however, you will still only have one Tesla coil in your inventory.
