Re:Featured articles
Yes, my friend, it's something I've been thinking about over the last few days. Progress was excellent the first few weeks, but as you said, it has pretty much come to a stop at this point. I think having to review 365 articles, along with people's increasingly busy schedules, it's especially difficult to get the organised effort together. Luckily I have a solution for us.

  +
What I plan to do is send a message out to the current members of the review board, asking them whether or not they can make the commitment to stay on the board. If not, then we can replace them with other willing editors (maybe even yourself). Then, we can continue where we left off until all articles have five votes, after which I'll decide which ones to keep and scrap based on votes/feedback. Then we can work on nominating and approval replacement articles (most of which will be FNV ones). Sound good? We started this first, and we'll finish it first. 19:30, October 18, 2013 (UTC)

In retrospect, I think you're right. It is indeed difficult to get good, consistent help for long-term matters like this. It would've been wiser in the beginning to just do this myself, but I had wanted to include more of a community role in it. Now that we see where that has turned out, perhaps I should just overhaul the entire thing. Kastera has a great system going, but I'm going to try to stick with my own for now, in the interest of making original content. You can expect a completed list of 366 articles by November 1, and we'll work on implementation afterwards. Fair? 16:03, October 19, 2013 (UTC)

Hi! I see you guys having trouble with Games not being rendered. As a quick fix, I suggest you could put this rule:
I removed the strikeouts. Ryan, I know you are having some troubles right now and I'm sorry to hear that but you know just like every other admin that we do not vandalize others opinions by striking them out. I kept the vote off and locked the page from further comments. I hope things work out for you Ryan.--Kingclyde (talk) 20:56, September 17, 2012 (UTC)

So i've been looking over some badges and doo-dads and i was thinking. What about a 25 point badge? I love earning badges, by when i edit 5 things on quests or creatures and I only get 10 points I kinda feel dampened. Also editing 5 different zion or old world blues quests properly is very hard and 10 points seems kinds lousy. So what do you think?

Yep, I can. I'd add no-roof maps for the rest of the mission pages as well already, but I've just been very busy since the end of September. Hi J. After doing some calculations on paper, I've formulated a distribution for the featured articles. This can be found here. Also, I have created a template to mark our featured articles. If everything's all set, I'll begin choosing articles using my criteria as well as some feedback I got from the original review process. 20:36, October 20, 2013 (UTC)

::Yeah, I had a few more set up for FO3 and FNV, but I felt like we should still leave a fair amount of featured articles for the older games (since they are core games and they have fans too). Broken Steel was a direct expansion to the storyline, so I thought it should have a few more. I've made some readjustments according to your request; how to they look? 20:59, October 20, 2013 (UTC)

Let me jump into New Vegas real quick. I specifically remember getting an addiction from FAN. There was always an abundance of it after traveling through north towards the city, and I found myself using the stuff frequently. :Alright, took me a while to get enough to get addicted, but I can confirm that fire ant addiction is possible. After taking 13 ingestions of fire ant nectar, I became addicted, which, when the addiction officially kicked in after I waited 15 hours, it gave me this:

The History of Nuka-Cola
  +
  +
It has been sometime since I have been on the wiki. Great work with the Fallout Tactics sections.
  +
  +
I was having a conversation about what would and wouldn't exist outside of the United States. When then the topic of Nuka-Cola came up. The wiki says Nuka-Cola was founded in 2044 and I believe that comes from Fallout 3 and that it didn't become popular until 2067 and by then America had closed it's boarders.
  +
  +
But it was pointed out to me that Festus in Fallout New Vegas says that Nuka-Cola was around before Sunset and Sunset was created in 1918. So wouldn't this make Nuka-Cola much older than Bethesda says it is?
  +
  +
"Looooong ago, people didn't have a heap of choices when it came to soft drinks. It was either water, or Nuka-cola." Festus.
  +
  +
--StylesV13 (talk) 00:03, October 22, 2013 (UTC)StylesV13
  +
  +
I also suspect that it was just a story that Festus made up (programmed to say) and the legal stuff about how "Nuka-Cola is a fine drink" to me suggests that it's clearly a way of saying Sunset Sarsaparilla is better than Nuka-Cola. That and it was apart of a big marketing campaign by Sunset. Still others could see it as a mistake by Obsidian, and it very well could be... but I think what Bethesda has to say about when Nuka-Cola overrides what Festus has to say about it.

::Yep. It looks much better than when I previewed my edit where the SPECIAL took up three lines. I'll take a look at the raiders page and see what I can do. :::I took out the ref id, and I'll try merging special and level together. Just because he candied up his forum with sympathetic words doesn't mean his intent wasn't malicious, or, at the very least, sleazy. The site he linked to was a typical survey site that you delete from your spam folders as you're checking your e-mail. Not only that, but the survey he linked to took advantage of ads. I highly doubt some student created a site with a survey with ads and all just to help out with some paper. ==Deathclaws==
  +
I noticed that image of the dead deathclaws as well. I can get an image in a few minutes. All I do for line up images is create a new NPC and set its model to the same as the character that I'm using for the image. I give the NPC an AI package to make it stand still and not look at other NPCs (maybe take its gun out as well), and I set their aggression to something that would not be dangerous to the player. I do this for as many NPCs as I need and then line them up somewhere in-game. It helps get rid of the weird angry face characters make when their hostile to the player, which is beneficial for images of hostile NPCs. And I'll be looking over getting audio files this weekend. Don't think I've forgotten. 69.l25 (talk) 23:29, October 24, 2013 (UTC)
  +
:I'll have to get the image a little later. I put the deathclaws outside of ant mound and despite the fact that I deleted all of the ants in the area, one keeps popping up anyway and making the deathclaws run out of line and attack, and I'm too busy right now to dig that deep into it. == Update on FA ==
  +
  +
Hi J. I'm sure you've noticed that progress, while being made, has been relatively slow. It turns out that not too many articles currently fit my criteria (perhaps my standards are too high?), which makes selection more tedious than I had predicted. The main issue is poor writing, in many cases due to passages copied verbatim from the "official" guides, as well as due to inappropriate second-person perspective. Nonetheless, we shall persevere! User:69.l25 has been giving me a hand as well. 01:35, October 28, 2013 (UTC)

:Selecting and then bringing them up to standards sounds good, actually. Once we have the list down, there will be time to improve upon the pages. :::I can fix that probably. What days would be suiting best for putting the blog then? Wednesday-thursday-friday? Also ,i can't guarantee that it will be updated those 3 days then, i think i should be able to complete the blog every wednesday, so the days after i would just have to upload them, but it may happen that a day is skipped or so when i make it a 3 day thing, since i got some busy months coming up now.
  +
:::That said, i had considered going this direction before i made the blog from this week, but then i thought i would go past the target. I guess the community features are here to keep the knowledgeable entertained and to absorb the new players and make them feel welcome to the fallout wikia in a more fun way than getting their edits "Undo"ne (which we all know that happens on your first edits when you join here). Keeping the old-school guys entertained can be done by getting hard blurry images, but i don't think the newer players will be attracted to it, when they know that they don't stand a chance.
  +
:::Another thing i was wondering is if there is some kind of "spoiler"-button-option. On some forums you have to press a "spoiler" button in order to make certain content pop-up, maybe i can put the spoilerbutton with the picturecontent right between the rules to increase the chances of them being read? --<font color= "grey"> Greets </font> 00:45, November 1, 2013 (UTC)

::::I think i can do this, it will be less fun for everyone i guess, but it's still the best option there is considering this week's faillure. I guess first weeks will just be trial and error, and we'll see what's best by trying. Next week i'll try this idea, but i may start it thursday already.
  +
::::And about the spoiler button, i wouldn't use it for the answers, but instead make it that you have to press the button in order to be able to see the picture of the week. == Removal of Gomorrah Entrance Guard from New Vegas Characters list ==

Administration? Grand, no wonder you were deleting my edits so much. Do any other guards in the Gomorrah use the GomorrahGreeterPackage AI pack besides the Gomorrah Entrance Guard? If so, I haven't seen it, especially since when I resurrected a Gomorrah floor manager in the casino, I remained locked near the front door.
  +
  +
If you kill the Entrance Guard, then Gomorrah breaks. Having this base ID will help since, if his corpse disappears, then you can bring him back. He's not 'just' an Omertas thug, he's actually pretty critical to the ability of entering and leaving the casino.
  +

Like I said, it fixed my problem... hence why I added him.

The Polls
* Some of those bans were over turned due to what we might fairly call some moderators hasty actions before all evidence was shown. I do not mean to put undue blame on the chat mods. Some times folks might come into the middle of a conversation and draw a conclusion based on only a few lines. Again, I stress that I do not appoint blame on them. I trust they meant only to serve the sites common good.

  +
Thank you JS for your message. Late response I know, but I wanted to get the right words considering I'm speaking to the big cheese on the Wiki and all ;D Also because I wasn't sure if I were to be picked or not xD
* As I said, some even later stated the very human fact that we are all fallible and admitted they over reacted.

  +
I hope that I can keep them going. Having been a keen reader of Yes-Man (Is he possible to get in touch with by any chance?)?) and our brilliant Dead Gunner, I hope to keep the spirit alive as best I can. I know I don't edit articles much at all on this site (most of mine are just comments on blogs), but the community has always been one of they key components of this site and it'd make me a little happy if even people just tune in still to the Polls and... yeah I don't know what else to say other than thanks :)
* I am not trying to start a pissing contest. I had even tried to let the whole topic go but it is clear to some that the ban was questionable and the punishment exceeds the any definition of the perceived crime.

Hey J. I know I haven't been active recently but during my time away I have been following the site and the whole issue with Saint's chat ban has renewed my dissent with our chat ban policy as it currently stands. The way that I see it, chat is taken way too seriously and the guidelines (used as rules by some) are far too harsh for the majority of situations. When Fallout 4 comes around we are going to have a large influx of users. Due to ignorance of the rules I feel like there will be more situations like Saint's and good people will be perma-banned from chat and alienated from the wiki.

  +
I know there's no use complaining without a solution, so I offer up a bit of a radical idea: Get rid of the ban guidelines all together, make bans a case-by-case issue, much like real law, and bring perma-bans under the jurisdiction of admins only (or even BC's). We have the tools and capabilities to make this a reality, allowing for reviews to make sure that bans are just. In Saint's case, he was perma-banned after a ban from a Chat mod who has admitted regret. I'm not sure if this will have much support, but I thought I'd get your take on it.
{I can only assume based on the context that SigmaDelta54 had a typo and meant to say "this was"NOT" a good decision."

  +
P.S. I spent some time in Europe this summer and I was in The Hague for a brief time. You have a gorgeous country, sir. The people were good to me as well. *I have held my tongue for nearly a month but as SigmaDelta54 and Jspoels have said, the 3,000 year ban was excessive. I have been punished and I have made a pledge to be more mindful of when, where, and what to say in the future.

  +
:Thanks for your thoughts J. Leon and I had some discussion as you can see and I think the conclusion we have reached is that the 'guidelines' as we call them now are being used too concretely. I do see some issues arising when traffic increases, and the last thing I want is to alienate a good user (which we were fortunate enough to avoid with Saint, although that is an exception) because of issues in chat. I think that giving moderators more freedom in how they deal with blocks and establishing the phrase 'case-by-case basis' as part of the policy will benefit everyone in the long run. I'm glad to see you approve of the BC review, which I think in itself will prevent issues like Saint's from arising in the future, as (without trying to put words in your mouth) I don't think you (or even Gunny) would have let that permanent ban stand. Yesterday I wrote a draft of the chat conduct guidelines which can be found here. I included a copy of the original page so you can see the changes I made. It's just a draft, but I would appreciate some input if you have a minute. I'm not sure whether I'm going in the right direction or not.   +
We don't know her last name; it's the same story as Cheryl. Why choose a "safe bet" when we can avoid guessing entirely? I went through and changed most of the links to "Melissa (Great Khan)" too, so it's not like it's created any linking problems. :Hey. Sorry to take do long to get back to you; I've been away. I just have one question about the whole Melissa/Cheryl thing: are you willing to say that naming the pages "Melissa Lewis" and "Cheryl Koch" requires a leap of faith? After all, we don't know for sure what their last names are. 69.l25 (talk) 19:17, November 10, 2013 (UTC)
  +
::I was thinking we could ask the community on each page's talk page. We might be able to start somewhat of a discussion. For me, I think adding Cheryl's last name is too far. We have the whole search party and at least Moira's mother from Canterbury who are all never mentioned, and Cheryl's character is too minor to have complete details about. I just want to be safe and give her page a name that is without a doubt true. We know more about Melissa, and unlike Canterbury characters, we know most of the people what were at Red Rock Canyon, so with less mystery, I could see why some would want to include "Lewis." 69.l25 (talk) 19:39, November 10, 2013 (UTC)
  +
:::I'm just trying to say that we know so little about who lived at Canterbury and who Cheryl is. There's absolutely nothing wrong with labeling the page "Cheryl (Fallout 3)"; her name is Cheryl and she appears in Fallout 3. But, giving the page the name "Cheryl Koch" assumes that Koch is her last name, and I think it would be safer to leave out any assumptions. Same goes with Melissa. And Cheryl doesn't need to have a different father to have a different last name. She could have just dropped it; no one ever referred to her as "Cheryl Koch" in-game. == Visual Editor ==
Please pardon that I posted most of this to Gunny in the vain hopes that you two might discuss this and maybe you could reconsider letting me back into chat.

  +
There's no impact on overall site performance. The feature itself performs very well, but it's still in Beta and so occasional issues may crop up (we have not yet seen anything to worry about though). In terms of what to expect, check out Community Test or Angry Birds which both have the feature enabled. You'll see how the "Classic editor" menu option works; as I said, for Fallout it would be the same, just without the older visual mode being present. The options to upload images and add videos were just released in VisualEditor today, so also check that out (use Community Test if you'll be testing uploads to completion, of course).
* I will redouble my efforts to be more chat friendly and avoid chat controversy to the very best of my abilities. Jspoels stuck is neck out so far for me, I owe him no less.

  +
The trial period could be as long as you wish, or indefinite. We expect to have this available in WikiFeatures soon, so eventually you will be able to turn it off yourself if that's the community decision. Further down the road (sometime next year), this will fully replace Wikia's current visual mode. Let me know if you have any other questions. -BertH <staff /> <small>(help forum | blog)</small> 22:14, November 6, 2013 (UTC)

:Can you link me to some of the pages where you saw data loading errors? I would like to know more details. Regarding the width, please note that both of those wikias (Community Test and Angry Birds) have also had Project Darwin's fluid layout enabled. This allows the site layout to get bigger or smaller depending on the user's screen size. Fluid layout will be releasing to all of Wikia very soon, it won't be optional (hopefully you know this already from Community Council?). However, while fluid layout and VisualEditor are both under the "evolution" banner of Project Darwin, they aren't on the same release schedule. VisualEditor will continue to be opt-in for quite some time, as we add more features, fix bugs, etc. If Fallout is not ready to try out Visual Editor right now, it's no problem. If you want to check out VisualEditor on a community that does not yet have fluid layout, you can look at I Love Writing. Let me know if you have any questions. Watch for more announcements and resources about fluid layout during the next weeks, on Community Central. -BertH <staff /> <small>(help forum | blog)</small> 18:44, November 7, 2013 (UTC)

Bounties and their hunters
Hi Bears.

  +
I was looking at how to improve the Bounties page, as a disambiguation it's fairly strange in that I would have only put miscellaneous things that could be classed as a bounty, if it were renamed "Bounty" it could cover a bit more but I think it's a good opportunity to develop the Bounty hunter page (which I think is a more fitting place for bounties as they appear in the Fallout series). I've come up with this for the bounty hunter page, which could take over from the current bounties page or be a redirect to. It may need a bit more work but I thought I'd run it past you for an opinion. Thanks. --<font color= "Black"> Talk! </font> 17:08, November 7, 2013 (UTC)

He was actually banned the next day after I kicked him for a different offence. I was then informed by two other moderators that as he had already been kicked that day, they were about to ban when I did ht kick. After a confrence we agreed that a second kick in a day would ordinarily result in a ban.

I'm teaching myself how to create gadgets for my upcoming community vote for navigational pop-ups. Everything is working on my end. But I want to make sure it's working for everyone else, as well. == Darwin and visual ==
Have they told you the grounds of my ban?

* I have tried to make my case that "Just because one is banded dose not mean they deserve it." As I said one of my bans was just a joke and at least two others were reversed because they were over reactions on the part of the mods.

  +
I checked out angry birds. It looks like they're trying out the fluid width from Darwin as well as the new visual editor. Visual editor doesn't automatically come with fluid width, as far as I know. I liked what I saw of both, well, except for the loading errors I got about half the time on visual and the fact that I'll never use visual to edit with. But, other than that, I think they both looked pretty good. If we go fluid here, which I'd like to see, we'll have to change a few things in the CSS to accommodate for the fluid page width, ie all "full sized" tables, navboxes and such will have to be changed from a fixed width of 670px to use width:100%. Not too big of a deal, I don't think.<span style="border: 2px solid gold; background-color: red; white-space: nowrap; "><font color= "gold">&nbsp; The Gunny&nbsp;</font></span>&nbsp; 20:35, November 7, 2013 (UTC)

: Well, to be honest, that isn't QUITE true. We had Dawnguard, and we have some of the hype regarding Elder Scrolls Online (which is already being predicted to be the biggest (or one of the biggest, depending on the source) games in 2014. Or, you know, IGN, which has it being released this year still :P (Couldn't resist. Sorry) And to be fair, I'm not really the "head" anymore either! I only really edit for a short while each day, between when I'm home from work, and when Ethan is asleep, which is why I have nominated someone else for b'crat. (I was checking the previous votes for the other bureaucrats, who are not inactive too, which is how I came across the link to your page in the first place).

I would say that it is largely due to the fact that you have competition from The Vault, but then again, we had a supremely large wiki as competitors too. People now only use that one for Morrowind sources, as we haven't added them yet. Anything later, and we are usually the top google search. I would definitely agree to the wikification thing - they are very similar game series' in terms of gameplay.

As for the sounds - I like the sound of that (no pun intended) a lot - I think Flightmare was working on something like that for creatures, but we dont have that for quotes - I think that would be an awesome addition, to be honest.

Hi J. I really bad over missing the original deadlines, but things recently have gotten so busy and hectic that I simply couldn't find the time to select articles. I had only been able to check in once or twice a day. I'm going to choose some more articles today and hopefully this can be completed soon enough. Thank you for your putting up with all this... 23:40, November 8, 2013 (UTC)

In a nutshell, I've run into similar problems elsewhere with the formatting that blog feeds can and can not take very well. I doubt if there's a way to force the blog feed to not display the template artifacts that you normally shouldn't see. Hello, I'm an administrator over at the Elder Scrolls Wiki and very soon we will be introducing the Wikia Chat feature. I was wondering if I could copy some of the chat rules that you have set up here on Nukepeida over to the Elder Scrolls Wiki's chat guidelines? I didn't want to copy the content without consent. I think we would like to use information from the sections, Grounds for block, Bots, and Consequences. Please let me know if that is okay. Thanks! —<span style="font face=Edwardian Script ITC;">TombRaiser</span><small> <span style="color:mediumvioletred; text-shadow: yellow 0 0 4px 4px;">SPEAK!</span></small> 22:47, November 10, 2013 (UTC)
Well it's sort of in the balance on the pages. On some pages it's journal entries and on some it's quest stages. Policy says it's quest stages, so that's what I'm going for at the moment. Maybe journal entries is better, that could use some discussion perhaps in a forum thread to get some conformity. Revision as of 22:47, 10 November 2013

--Skire (talk) 19:30, October 18, 2013 (UTC)

Not if I have anything to say about it! Ha ha! I'll race you to see who finishes their featured articles first! --Kastera (talk) 19:34, October 18, 2013 (UTC)

Fair? --Skire (talk) 16:03, October 19, 2013 (UTC)

I'll make sure to keep you updated. --Skire (talk) 20:20, October 19, 2013 (UTC)

Fixing Games template and other stuff

Hi! I see you guys having trouble with Games not being rendered. As a quick fix, I suggest you could put this rule:

.WikiaArticle {
 overflow: visible;
}

in to MediaWiki:Common.css. This should also fix chopped shadows from info- and nav-boxes, and fix some issues with Inline quote. But keep in mind that this is a makeshift workaround, and you guys probably should start looking for a proper solution. --Теодорико (talk) 23:25, October 19, 2013 (UTC)

You forgot to close comment block! ;) The rule is commented-out now. Do it like this:
/* Temporary fix Games rendering */
.WikiaArticle {
 overflow: visible;
}
Yeap, shadows on the right side are gone. This is mostly unnoticeable, but you should know what kind of a nitpicker I am. :) --Теодорико (talk) 23:47, October 19, 2013 (UTC)
I'm glad I could help.
Well... yeah, I do, but I'm quite busy at the Russian Wiki, so I don't have much time for regrets. And to be honest, Убежище is the right Wiki for me - same as Nukapedia, but without all that social-network uproar, which I never liked.
Ok, J, it was nice to talk with you. See you around. --Теодорико (talk) 03:47, October 20, 2013 (UTC)
PS Don't think twice before asking me, if you need any of my skills. It's an official offer. :)))

Benny

No it isn't. The Gecko "family" isn't a real family, and his last name wouldn't have been Gecko. That's like saying James Blain's last name is Half-Breed because he was a prominent member of that Republican faction. 69.l25 (talk) 01:31, October 20, 2013 (UTC)

Voice Actor

Where are you getting that Jim Ward voiced the Y-17 trauma override harness? 69.l25 (talk) 18:40, October 20, 2013 (UTC)

Well, didn't you just add it in? Either way, I'll go ahead and ask Jasper42 like you said. 69.l25 (talk) 18:51, October 20, 2013 (UTC)

Re: Multiplayer maps

Yep, I can. I'd add no-roof maps for the rest of the mission pages as well already, but I've just been very busy since the end of September. Guess I can start adding basic images (no fancy no-roof maps) tomorrow if you make the multiplayer mission pages. — k78talk 19:38, October 20, 2013 (UTC)

Here are the multiplayer maps: Assault — Downtown 1 & 2, Lost Vault (no need to toy with roofs there I guess), Robotica 1 & 2, Uphill Battle (for some reason I can't make the program remove the cabin roofs, so there's only one map); CtF — All your flag are belong to us 1 & 2, Motor Sports 1 & 2, Plains of Carnage 1 & 2; Scavenger — the only map there is Taking in the Trash, but it's identical to the Junkyard map below; Skirmish — High Noon 1 & 2, Industrial Disease (with Enable Roof Popping checked the program simply removes whole sections of the map, not roofs, so there's only one map), Junkyard 1 & 2, Shellshocked 1 & 2. — k78talk 00:21, October 21, 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, I guess that would be better if you create the page. I don't know what to write there — I just didn't ever play the FOT multiplayer. — k78talk 00:25, October 21, 2013 (UTC)

Progress update

Hi J. After doing some calculations on paper, I've formulated a distribution for the featured articles. This can be found here. Also, I have created a template to mark our featured articles. If everything's all set, I'll begin choosing articles using my criteria as well as some feedback I got from the original review process. --Skire (talk) 20:36, October 20, 2013 (UTC)

I am looking for your approval with the distribution so I can continue the process. --Skire (talk) 20:36, October 20, 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, I had a few more set up for FO3 and FNV, but I felt like we should still leave a fair amount of featured articles for the older games (since they are core games and they have fans too). Broken Steel was a direct expansion to the storyline, so I thought it should have a few more. I've made some readjustments according to your request; how to they look? --Skire (talk) 20:59, October 20, 2013 (UTC)

FAN

Let me jump into New Vegas real quick. I specifically remember getting an addiction from FAN. There was always an abundance of it after traveling through north towards the city, and I found myself using the stuff frequently. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 21:20, October 21, 2013 (UTC)

Alright, took me a while to get enough to get addicted, but I can confirm that fire ant addiction is possible. After taking 13 ingestions of fire ant nectar, I became addicted, which, when the addiction officially kicked in after I waited 15 hours, it gave me this:

NectarWithdrawal
Tracking it down, it seems the addiction comes from a Spell 0006dc6e. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 21:47, October 21, 2013 (UTC)

Weird. That shouldn't be the case - I think the only mod I use that modifies food/medicine is Project Nevada, and I don't think that mod affects addiction rates. Oh well. If the G.E.C.K. does indeed say otherwise, then maybe it is something on my end. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 22:27, October 21, 2013 (UTC)

The History of Nuka-Cola

It has been sometime since I have been on the wiki. Great work with the Fallout Tactics sections.

But it was pointed out to me that Festus in Fallout New Vegas says that Nuka-Cola was around before Sunset and Sunset was created in 1918. So wouldn't this make Nuka-Cola much older than Bethesda says it is?

"Looooong ago, people didn't have a heap of choices when it came to soft drinks. It was either water, or Nuka-cola." Festus.

--StylesV13 (talk) 00:03, October 22, 2013 (UTC)StylesV13

I also suspect that it was just a story that Festus made up (programmed to say) and the legal stuff about how "Nuka-Cola is a fine drink" to me suggests that it's clearly a way of saying Sunset Sarsaparilla is better than Nuka-Cola. That and it was apart of a big marketing campaign by Sunset. Still others could see it as a mistake by Obsidian, and it very well could be... but I think what Bethesda has to say about when Nuka-Cola overrides what Festus has to say about it.

--StylesV13 (talk) 00:45, October 22, 2013 (UTC)StylesV13

Yes I have seen those maps and they are great. I also noticed that the dialogue files are being added for the characters. It is great to see so much work going into the Fallout Tactics sections.

I am still trying to figure out how to play the demo missions but have been having no luck at all.

Class

Thanks for cleaning up the class articles. I wasn't aware of the format needed for base ids. 69.l25 (talk) 00:44, October 23, 2013 (UTC)

That sounds good. It'll link each special stat every time it appears though. Do you think that'll be a problem? 69.l25 (talk) 00:49, October 23, 2013 (UTC)
Yep. It looks much better than when I previewed my edit where the SPECIAL took up three lines. I'll take a look at the raiders page and see what I can do. Can't get the ref ids, and I think we might have to take it out since so many raiders appear in the game. 69.l25 (talk) 01:06, October 23, 2013 (UTC)
I took out the ref id, and I'll try merging special and level together. A also tried having an image say the skill its associated with (e.g. Melee weapons image and name) as seen in my sandbox, but the lines going through it make it kind of annoying. 69.l25 (talk) 01:15, October 23, 2013 (UTC)
There's defiantly more space, but the derived stats sections still needs to be clearer, and maybe something can be done for tag skills. I'll see what I can do about it tomorrow. I've suggested the idea of making the "generic variants" section something like the infobox to Gunny a while back, but I haven't heard much about it. 69.l25 (talk) 01:30, October 23, 2013 (UTC)

Survey

Just because he candied up his forum with sympathetic words doesn't mean his intent wasn't malicious, or, at the very least, sleazy. The site he linked to was a typical survey site that you delete from your spam folders as you're checking your e-mail. Not only that, but the survey he linked to took advantage of ads. I highly doubt some student created a site with a survey with ads and all just to help out with some paper. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 17:12, October 23, 2013 (UTC)

Images

Hello again, Jan, long time no see! I was just about to re-upload an old image of mine which was removed a fair bit back (probably because it wasn't properly categorised, ech), so I just thought I'd give you a heads-up in case I miss to categorise it properly! Hugs MadeMan2 "Say 'ello to my little friend!"

No, sadly not, although I wish I had time for it! I am buried far too deep in interpersonal relationships, paperwork and job applications, just to mention a few things! Hopefully it'll settle down enough for me to be semi-present here on the wiki! Hugs MadeMan2 "Say 'ello to my little friend!"

Deathclaws

I'll have to get the image a little later. I put the deathclaws outside of ant mound and despite the fact that I deleted all of the ants in the area, one keeps popping up anyway and making the deathclaws run out of line and attack, and I'm too busy right now to dig that deep into it. 69.l25 (talk) 00:02, October 25, 2013 (UTC)
We could clearly benefit from having similar line up images for other creatures, and I'd be happy to take care of it. Something I did earlier in June was add character line up images for Fallout 3 factions. I'll look into finishing that too. 69.l25 (talk) 01:55, October 25, 2013 (UTC)

Update on FA

--Skire (talk) 01:35, October 28, 2013 (UTC)

Selecting and then bringing them up to standards sounds good, actually. Once we have the list down, there will be time to improve upon the pages. With this in mind, I can get it done by Monday (4 November). I'm just going to need a few more days, not too long. I promised a deadline and I want to keep to that as much as possible. --Skire (talk) 22:05, October 28, 2013 (UTC)
Indeed, thanks J! I will do my best. --Skire (talk) 22:21, October 28, 2013 (UTC)

I can fix that probably.
That said, i had considered going this direction before i made the blog from this week, but then i thought i would go past the target.
Another thing i was wondering is if there is some kind of "spoiler"-button-option. On some forums you have to press a "spoiler" button in order to make certain content pop-up, maybe i can put the spoilerbutton with the picturecontent right between the rules to increase the chances of them being read? -- Greets 00:45, November 1, 2013 (UTC)
I think i can do this, it will be less fun for everyone i guess, but it's still the best option there is considering this week's faillure. I guess first weeks will just be trial and error, and we'll see what's best by trying. Next week i'll try this idea, but i may start it thursday already.
And about the spoiler button, i wouldn't use it for the answers, but instead make it that you have to press the button in order to be able to see the picture of the week. If i put that button that between the rules, only people who read or are reading the rules should find it and then be able to answer it?
And thanks for the offer of you posting for me, i think i'll be able to do so in the next weeks, but it's good i have a back-up for when i have no time -- Greets 01:22, November 1, 2013 (UTC)
Sure, i didn't give them a name to don't give clues, but i can name them "helena easy week3" or so, that's better?
Could you let me know if you received the update e-mail? -- Greets 23:56, November 4, 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, now i see it's double jpg, i copy/pasted and forgot win7 doesn't show the .jpg in the name. And if you want, I won't send you the pictures next time when I think I'll be able to do it myself that weekend so you can still participate.
Ok I brought it online today. Feel free to join the game once the third picture would be released I guess you have equal chances then, compared to the others. Next week, I won't send anyone if I think I can post them, and if I think I can't, then I'll send just to Agent c, so you can participate if you want :) -- Greets 21:17, November 7, 2013 (UTC)

Claim of good faith

The Anniversary

Am I still going to be an outcast ?

 • I am vein enough to say I have proved ~ I never meant any harm.
 • I am humble "enough" to admit ~ I was in a really dark place one year ago.

The US Veterans Administration calls it "Chronic Separation Anxiety". I'll be 50 in January & there will still be another six years after that before I can say "I spent one half my life in the military.." As it is, most of my life has been dedicated to the service of others.

 • The Army was my Evil bitch wife that I booth loved & despised.. I was a volunteer slave & I did not ask for their oh so HONORABLE retirement.
 • This life long relationship, too abruptly broken after recent combat deployment has marked me with suppressed anger issues.

I do not ask for any special pass, but I have spent this past year with the STAIN of a chat block above my name even as I have continued to contribute in good faith to this community.

 • I politely ask ask " May I please rejoin Nukapedia chat as a proven member of this community ?"

I am really just here to help.

Removal of Gomorrah Entrance Guard from New Vegas Characters list

Administration? Grand, no wonder you were deleting my edits so much. Do any other guards in the Gomorrah use the GomorrahGreeterPackage AI pack besides the Gomorrah Entrance Guard? If so, I haven't seen it, especially since when I resurrected a Gomorrah floor manager in the casino, I remained locked near the front door.

If you kill the Entrance Guard, then Gomorrah breaks. Having this base ID will help since, if his corpse disappears, then you can bring him back. He's not 'just' an Omertas thug, he's actually pretty critical to the ability of entering and leaving the casino.

Like I said, it fixed my problem... hence why I added him.

Gomorrah entrance guard

Sorry I reply so late, I only see your message now. Well, then I wasn't finished yet, but now I am, I guess. I am aware there is some stuff from the G.E.C.K. missing, but I don't have a G.E.C.K., so I think this is about as far as i can make the page.

Adding the Gomorrah Entrance Guard back

So, can I add him back? Seems kinda strange for a page to not include a nice bugfix.

The Polls

Thank you JS for your message. Late response I know, but I wanted to get the right words considering I'm speaking to the big cheese on the Wiki and all ;D Also because I wasn't sure if I were to be picked or not xD

Chat bans

P.S. I spent some time in Europe this summer and I was in The Hague for a brief time. You have a gorgeous country, sir. The people were good to me as well. FollowersApocalypseLogosectatorapocalypsi 05:08, November 6, 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for your thoughts J. Thanks for your input. I actually didn't remove the thing about joke bans and kicks, I moved it under bannable offences, although I haven't seen any issue with it in a long time, but I just felt it fits better in that location. I'll start shopping around the ideas to admins and mods soon. FollowersApocalypseLogosectatorapocalypsi 06:48, November 8, 2013 (UTC)

Melissa

We don't know her last name; it's the same story as Cheryl. Why choose a "safe bet" when we can avoid guessing entirely? I went through and changed most of the links to "Melissa (Great Khan)" too, so it's not like it's created any linking problems. 69.l25 (talk) 17:18, November 6, 2013 (UTC)

Hey.
I was thinking we could ask the community on each page's talk page.
I'm just trying to say that we know so little about who lived at Canterbury and who Cheryl is. 69.l25 (talk) 21:17, November 10, 2013 (UTC)

Visual Editor

There's no impact on overall site performance. The feature itself performs very well, but it's still in Beta and so occasional issues may crop up (we have not yet seen anything to worry about though). In terms of what to expect, check out Community Test or Angry Birds which both have the feature enabled. You'll see how the "Classic editor" menu option works; as I said, for Fallout it would be the same, just without the older visual mode being present. The options to upload images and add videos were just released in VisualEditor today, so also check that out (use Community Test if you'll be testing uploads to completion, of course).

-BertH (help forum | blog) 22:14, November 6, 2013 (UTC)

Can you link me to some of the pages where you saw data loading errors? -BertH (help forum | blog) 18:44, November 7, 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for the screen shot! We're looking into the cause. I was able to get the error message too, but intermittently. -BertH (help forum | blog) 20:22, November 7, 2013 (UTC)

Bounties and their hunters

I was looking at how to improve the Bounties page, as a disambiguation it's fairly strange in that I would have only put miscellaneous things that could be classed as a bounty, if it were renamed "Bounty" it could cover a bit more but I think it's a good opportunity to develop the Bounty hunter page (which I think is a more fitting place for bounties as they appear in the Fallout series). I've come up with this for the bounty hunter page, which could take over from the current bounties page or be a redirect to. It may need a bit more work but I thought I'd run it past you for an opinion. Thanks. --TribalWisdom(colour) Talk! 17:08, November 7, 2013 (UTC)

Thanks! I'll fix it up a bit more then get to it. --TribalWisdom(colour) Talk! 17:52, November 7, 2013 (UTC)

Gadgets

I'm teaching myself how to create gadgets for my upcoming community vote for navigational pop-ups. Everything is working on my end. But I want to make sure it's working for everyone else, as well. Can you jump into your preferences real quick and activate it to make sure it's working properly? I'll render the gadget unusable afterwards and I'll get to work on the vote if it is working. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 17:52, November 7, 2013 (UTC)

I see no problem with that personally. As long as no one raises any concerns, I'll leave it as is and I'll put up a forum later detailing the new changes. Thanks for testing it out for me. As for my TP... I guess it is getting a bit long. :P ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 18:06, November 7, 2013 (UTC)

Darwin and visual

Not too big of a deal, I don't think. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 20:35, November 7, 2013 (UTC)

Weapons

Do you prefer I stop doing edits on them, or do I continue and you clean up after me what can be done better? -- Greets 22:36, November 7, 2013 (UTC)

ok, I'll see what i can do -- Greets 22:43, November 7, 2013 (UTC)

I know i meshed the weapons section. It was accidental but it was foolish and could have been avoided. I will also work on spelling, but some edits dont deserve removing over a few uncapitalized names.

How?

I was going through some of the admin nominations on the TES Wiki, and i found a link to your page. I remember at the time, you had something like 60,000 edits. Now you're at about 150,000. How is that even possible? It ... just... wow! (I would be closer to 60 or 70 if i didnt have a kid. Sigh). Anyways - Congrats! TimeoinSay G'DayView my work 13:38, November 8, 2013 (UTC)

Well, to be honest, that isn't QUITE true.

One more thing too - good luck with Fallout 4. Know that I will be definitely playing it when I get the chance. TimeoinSay G'DayView my work 10:52, November 9, 2013 (UTC)

Quoted vote

Read up from the vote I forwarded. Also, it was only a vote quote. Not an actual vote. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 15:19, November 8, 2013 (UTC)

Deletion of Boltman.png

Hey Jspoelstra, can you tell me why File:Boltman.png was deleted? I added it to the user page category and I am currently using the image as part of my signature? Is it because I didn't format it correctly? Please contact me with your reasoning. Boltman BOLTMAN FOREVER  Boltman 20:46, November 8, 2013 (UTC)

So if I wish to just use this particular image for my signature (I only added my sig to my user page to show someone my new signature), what would I classify the picture as? Boltman BOLTMAN FOREVER  Boltman 23:25, November 8, 2013 (UTC)

An update

--Skire (talk) 23:40, November 8, 2013 (UTC)

Transposing templates with tags don't work well in blog feeds

In a nutshell, I've run into similar problems elsewhere with the formatting that blog feeds can and can not take very well. I doubt if there's a way to force the blog feed to not display the template artifacts that you normally shouldn't see. You're welcome to ask Theo or Pecoes if there's something they can do, but it would be far easier to ask him to just use one quote and not the rotating template. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 00:51, November 10, 2013 (UTC)

Using chat rules on another wiki

Hello, I'm an administrator over at the Elder Scrolls Wiki and very soon we will be introducing the Wikia Chat feature. I was wondering if I could copy some of the chat rules that you have set up here on Nukepeida over to the Elder Scrolls Wiki's chat guidelines? I didn't want to copy the content without consent. I think we would like to use information from the sections, Grounds for block, Bots, and Consequences. Please let me know if that is okay. Thanks! —TombRaiser SPEAK! 22:47, November 10, 2013 (UTC)
