The trench knife is a melee weapon in the Fallout 3 add-on Operation: Anchorage.

Background[edit | edit source]

The following section is transcluded from Combat knife. To modify, please edit the source page.

The trench knife is a combat knife designed to kill or gravely incapacitate an enemy soldier at close quarters. It was developed in response to a need for a close combat weapon for soldiers conducting assaults and raids on enemy trenchlines during the First World War. This particular model was used by American soldiers during the Anchorage Reclamation.

Characteristics[edit | edit source]

The blade was designed particularly for use on an enemy's helmet, with maximum damage for a blade of its size in mind. This model may have been classified as a "knuckle-duster" knife.

There is no functional difference between the regular combat knife and the trench knife. Only the skins are different: the trench knife has a spiked knuckle guard. It can be repaired using standard combat knives.

Variants[edit | edit source]

  • Combat knife
  • Occam's Razor, a slightly stronger version of the combat knife, wielded by Talon Company Commander Jabsco.
  • Stabhappy, identical to Occam's Razor, but has two principle differences. Firstly, the raider that holds it respawns, allowing multiple copies to be obtained. Secondly, it deals an additional 50% damage to limbs.
  • Swampfolk combat knife Point LookoutGametitle-FO3 PL.png, a non-playable version of the weapon used only by Point Lookout's swampfolk, this version has identical stats but has an object effect which inflicts an extra 35 damage per hit when used by non-player characters against the player. This damage ignores Damage Resistance and is independent of the condition of the weapon.

Locations[edit | edit source]

Although used during the Anchorage Reclamation simulation, you can obtain it for use in the Capital Wasteland by retrieving it from the sealed armory in the Outcast Outpost after completing Operation: Anchorage.

Notes[edit | edit source]

Icon cut content.pngThe following is based on Fallout 3 cut content and has not been confirmed by canon sources.
  • Schematics for the trench knife are included in Operation: Anchorage's game files, but were not placed for the final release of the add-on. The schematic called for one combat knife, one brass knuckles, and one wonderglue. The schematic is completely unimplemented, in that the workbench script has not been updated to allow the item to be crafted, even if the player possesses the schematics.

  • In the Spanish version of Fallout 3 the trench knife will appear as "combat knife", making the game confuse with the actual combat knife, thus making the trench knife a regular combat knife.
