Welcome to my talk-page!
Mahandaa se.gif
Hei! - I am always happy to have visitors. If you don't know much about me, I am a local lore junkie and ambassador here at The Vault.
  1. I love to debate! Even if you don't need me for cross-wiki reasons, I am always around to talk about Fallout lore and canon. I am pretty big with other games, too, so feel free to talk about whatever.
  2. While I am still an active part of the community here at The Vault, there will be times when I disappear for a bit. Life is weird and always changing for me, so you'll never know when I might be lurking around. So don't be surprised if I message you back at some awkwardly long period down the road.
  3. Politics don't interest me much. Please use simple language with me, and I promise that I will return the favour.

Etymology[edit source]

No problem, I'm sorry about the reference dump. It was never meant as such, fair warning however, these references are from before the dialogue file verification project. So all the refs there need updating. Please do NOT just delete anything. I can guarantee you that I can find a place for it.--13:57, 27 November 2014 (UTC)

Community stuff[edit source]

Hey, I saw you new blog post and you want to be more involved in community dealings? I made a tumblr page for the Vault awhile ago and have been posting periodically. I added a few of the other admins to the group page so they could post there, but it's mostly me that posts there. If you have a tumblr, would you like to added to the tumblr group so you can post there? Shadowrunner(stuff) 00:10, 10 January 2015 (UTC)

Alright, if you do sign up for tumblr, all I need is the email you used to sign up and I can add you to the group page. Shadowrunner(stuff) 08:31, 10 January 2015 (UTC)

Welcome back[edit source]

Good 'ol Leon, back to get your hands dirty with some lore? It's good to have you back here where your help will be appreciated instead of mocked. Drop me a line if you need help with getting acquainted with anything. Cheers, Kastera (talk) 22:41, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

WND 2-1[edit source]

I'm sorry. I Know it was some ShoddyCast fiction, I didn't think why it was left like that.--Ant2242 (talk) 22:50, 1 February 2015 (UTC)

Simply that there are no Garys wandering the wastes, or in the corners of the wasteland. Nor is there enough for an army of them.--Ant2242 (talk) 00:58, 2 February 2015 (UTC)

I have never Once encountered a Gary in the wastes. If you are referring to Gary 23, he was taken from the Vault in the Outcast Raid.--Ant2242 (talk) 01:45, 2 February 2015 (UTC)

They could have wondered in. As for it being them who opened the door, that is not mentioned as the Garys' doing.--Ant2242 (talk) 02:29, 2 February 2015 (UTC)

Vault 108's experiment might not have anything to do do with cloning. The Vault was originally only meant to last 38 years.--Ant2242 (talk) 03:02, 3 February 2015 (UTC)

GECK[edit source]

First off, let me be the first; Welcome Back! Now as for the capping, I've been leaving it as the GECK says it is because there are holo/notes that are all lower case. If that's wrong... well... I already went through ALL the Fallout: New Vegas and ALL four DLCs for Errors. Which there were many, since NONE were created with the Raw page data.

Speaking of that project, I have also been going through all the terminal entries pages, since they are treated the same in the GECK. With only half of the OWB entries remaining. Quick question though, do you have the GECK for Lonesome Road? I created the FNVLR Raw data page, but since I did so with a content port there is no data there.--Ant2242 (talk) 18:35, 6 July 2015 (UTC)

Concerning the M199[edit source]

We would appreciate it if you could take a look at some arguments here (maybe even write some of your own) and then vote Yes/No. Thanks, Kastera (talk) 17:10, 14 July 2015 (UTC)

No biggie, Leon. I usually have to be nudged to look at forums myself since I basically never look at the forums. --Kastera (talk) 22:42, 14 July 2015 (UTC)

GNR[edit source]

1) There is no mention of her as a ghoul, nor any other type of mutant.

2) Regardless we need the dialogue associated with her character.

--Ant2242 (talk) 22:13, 25 July 2015 (UTC)

First lets acquire the dialogue file, there may be some explanation in its notes section.--Ant2242 (talk) 22:45, 25 July 2015 (UTC)

Message for Tagaziel[edit source]

I wanted to contact Tagz for a private conversation regarding the way attribution was carried out by Js on a consistent basis over on Nukapedia and how he'd like us to react but I learned his talk page is blocked from editing by anons and new users, so I figured you could notify him on my behalf. I wanted Tagaziel's insight on the matter as I consider him the most authoritative on this aspect of wiki-politics, but can understand if you'd care to weigh-in.

However you can assist would be quite appreciated.

This is The Ever Ruler from Nukapedia btw, I can't seem to recall my sign-in information.

Transcript[edit source]

They themselves have told me what they are doing when I asked them not twenty minutes ago. As for Js porting it over he credited Us and Me specifically for the format in the summary. Our format is 100% correct, it is what's said and by whom in order of their conversation.

I removed the previous transcript's description of whom said what because that was not in the transcript. As for toolitps these notes can be seen both within the line and in the "Notes" section on the dialogue pages. I have been compiling all the data of what to do on several sandboxes and my notepad, as part of a larger GECK verification of the Holos/Notes & Terminal Entries project.

If you have anymore questions please feel as free to ask whenever you like. Also off topic but why aren't you using a --~~~~ to sign your discussions?--Ant2242 (talk) 03:10, 2 August 2015 (UTC)

Chat[edit source]

Apparently we have a chat. (is on now) Although its more likely you'll find me through the talk page.--Ant2242 (talk) 18:43, 6 August 2015 (UTC)

I am not insulting you, nor trying to be disrespectful. Everything within the guide quotation is exact to the page.--Ant2242 (talk) 04:03, 18 August 2015 (UTC)

Dialogue[edit source]

I neither have access to FO3 DLCs on PC nor could I truly access them. I lack the fundamental skills to navigate that program and lack hardware that doesn't crash when operating it.--Ant2242 (talk) 22:27, 18 August 2015 (UTC)

Moving on[edit source]

Me too my friend.--Ant2242 (talk) 10:27, 24 August 2015 (UTC)

Attention needed...[edit source]

What do you think the purpose of this page (Fallout 3 component locations) is? Should we just delete it?--Ant2242 (talk) 11:53, 19 September 2015 (UTC)

If that's the case then why wouldn't the locations section on every component page be enough? (Discounting that those pages have received the same amount of GECK attention.)--Ant2242 (talk) 19:14, 19 September 2015 (UTC)

Why not just delete that page and make a note to do the GECK work for the individual item pages?--Ant2242 (talk) 20:12, 19 September 2015 (UTC)

New Content[edit source]

I don't think that you are missing anything and completely agree with your reasoning. It's why I've just added the Perk information to the overview.--Ant2242 (talk) 23:58, 24 September 2015 (UTC)

Special encounters[edit source]

From what I've gathered, ALL of our special encounters (that are not FO3 or NFV) were done before Fallout 3. This includes the lack of a specialized infobox (which I believe is needed) an accounting of all the characters within the encounters, the accounting of the dialogue of the encounters and so on. As for the missing FOT dialogue I believe that there is far more than just the encounters.--Ant2242 (talk) 22:26, 27 September 2015 (UTC)

America and Canada[edit source]

Could you please merge these;

  • American annexation of Canada
  • United States annexation of Canada

Infobox templates[edit source]

Do you know anything about infobox template coding?--Ant2242 (talk) 22:31, 1 October 2015 (UTC)

That's okay, we're with you 100%. Just to clarify, I'm not being hostile or anything. I was just asking your opinion on this business infobox update that I think that we should have and am unable to do. "User:Ant2242/Template:Infobox businesses"--Ant2242 (talk) 22:53, 1 October 2015 (UTC)
We do have a bot by Tags. I believe its called "DragonNetIndustries" or something along those lines. I however must voice protest against using any bots for all they do in the long run is break things that will take decades for people to notice to fix.--Ant2242 (talk) 23:02, 1 October 2015 (UTC)
If I could help, just ask and I'll try.--Ant2242 (talk) 23:11, 1 October 2015 (UTC)
I would like to formally declare that half of my morning routine is peer-review. ;p Also what I have been doing on the Quest standardization is mostly that and correcting links.--Ant2242 (talk) 23:20, 1 October 2015 (UTC)

Wow, Thank You! I was thinking of adding a parameter for "pre" and "post" (for the "-War") in the supertitle while also adding a parameter for whatever word is added. For example "Corporation", "Business", "Unknown", "Brand" et cetera.* This way we can reuse this infobox for other things that are not just "Companies". Along this line is why I also believe that renaming the template to "businesses" would be best.--Ant2242 (talk) 02:12, 4 October 2015 (UTC)

  • Maybe a better option would be to have one parameter?--Ant2242 (talk) 02:17, 4 October 2015 (UTC)

Icons? Isn't location icons already within the companies template?--Ant2242 (talk) 02:28, 4 October 2015 (UTC)

"Template:Infobox pre-war company"--Ant2242 (talk) 02:42, 4 October 2015 (UTC)

I guess just add a parameter to the supertitle wherein we can add our own line. This way we could use this template for more than just pre-War companies.--Ant2242 (talk) 03:34, 4 October 2015 (UTC)

That's no problem, thank you for your help! In the meantime should I move the template to "Infobox business"?--Ant2242 (talk) 03:26, 12 October 2015 (UTC)

Alien Captive recorded logs & Raw Pages[edit source]

Aliens

Actually we do have the overview page "Alien Captive recorded log". Unfortunately we Do Not have all the Raw Data Pages to properly review our content.

Raw Pages
"The Vault:Raw game data/FNV"
"The Vault:Raw game data/FO3"

I have however recently gone through all the Raw FNV content that Tags uploaded. It unfortunately it needs a review by a GECK editor to verify ALL the technical information that is there, find the missing information, and, most likely, clean up its standardization. In doing so I have even created whole Raw DLC pages Without their technical information. <:-( Which of course needs GECK work.

As for the FO3 Raw Pages we completely lack everything but Operation: Anchorage. Although I planned to review and add all the missing information before Fallout 4 comes out I do not believe this to be possible. As for the FO3 review, I don't believe that I did this yet. Please treat all transcripts as suspect until its been verified. <:-(

--Ant2242 (talk) 21:26, 5 October 2015 (UTC)

This is only the tip of the GECK iceberg my friend.--Ant2242 (talk) 21:44, 5 October 2015 (UTC)

GNR Building Plaza[edit source]

Should this page be split into interior and exterior locations? Also shouldn't this page be de-caped?--Ant2242 (talk) 22:02, 5 October 2015 (UTC)

Location categories[edit source]

Should the Lyons' Pride characters be put in both the GNR and Citadel categories like Colvin & Vargas?--Ant2242 (talk) 22:38, 5 October 2015 (UTC)

Policy & Redundancy[edit source]

Should this page just be deleted? Isn't it against policy, and if not why not just read the individual quest pages? "Fallout 3 walkthrough"--Ant2242 (talk) 23:28, 5 October 2015 (UTC)

Okay, but doesn't all the quest pages make the page in question redundant? Also "Fallout: New Vegas walkthrough"--Ant2242 (talk) 00:36, 6 October 2015 (UTC)

Mysterious Stranger characters overview[edit source]

I believe that we need to overview the Mysterious Stranger characters. As the first two games treat them as a multiple set of characters and FO3 and NV treat him as a single male character. What should we name the overview; "Mysterious Stranger characters"? If so how should we name the game separated characters?--Ant2242 (talk) 23:41, 16 October 2015 (UTC)

Going by the proto numbers there is a single Mysterious Stranger in FO1, Ten in FO2 (5 male and 5 female), and another single individual from FO3, FNV and presumably FOS.--Ant2242 (talk) 23:57, 16 October 2015 (UTC)

Normally I'd agree, however since there is literally a single character in every game except tactics, and in FO2 there are Female Mysterious Strangers, I have to disagree.--Ant2242 (talk) 00:08, 17 October 2015 (UTC)

I have the critters editor open now and all the male and female characters use the same "madmaxx" sprite. However these Mysterious Strangers are not the one present in FO3, FNV, FOS, and presumably FO4.--Ant2242 (talk) 00:17, 17 October 2015 (UTC)

No, the only time we could honestly consider pondering this is FO2 due to the ten protos. This however does not mean that however many Mysterious Strangers appear are their own faction.--Ant2242 (talk) 00:33, 17 October 2015 (UTC)

Perhaps "Mysterious Stranger characters" as the overview, "Mysterious Stranger (Fallout)" for the single(?) character in FO1, Mysterious Stranger (Fallout 2)" for the multiple characters (however many there are) in FO2, and "Mysterious Stranger (character)" for the only character with a background and unique appearance.--Ant2242 (talk) 00:38, 17 October 2015 (UTC)

"Mysterious Stranger" is the perk page.--Ant2242 (talk) 00:41, 17 October 2015 (UTC)

I've gone ahead and split these characters. However would it make more sense for the overview to be "Mysterious Strangers" rather than "Mysterious Stranger characters"? Or would it be too close to the perk page "Mysterious Stranger"?--Ant2242 (talk) 01:59, 17 October 2015 (UTC)

I'm wondering, would you consider the overview page be in the "Characters" category? Also should we create overviews for other pages of similar characters; like Paladins, Knights, Scribes and Initiates?--Ant2242 (talk) 01:30, 18 October 2015 (UTC)

FO4 item confirmations[edit source]

For the armor and clothing can we absolutely confirm the names present in the upcoming items? For example;

  • "Army uniform", "Army fatigues", or "Military fatigues" please see "Fatigues"
  • "Pre-War mailman uniform" or "Postal uniform"

Also should we merge all the miscellaneous items together in one single "super page"? One that encompasses say four different games and several world models. If so should we do the same for miscellaneous items that were (or still are) world objects?--Ant2242 (talk) 10:14, 17 October 2015 (UTC)

Okay.--Ant2242 (talk) 21:10, 17 October 2015 (UTC)

The "Vault-Tec bobblehead" page needs to be a true overview since they are to appear in Fallout 4.--Ant2242 (talk) 21:27, 17 October 2015 (UTC)

George[edit source]

You are missing a lot, he referred to the "Town Hall meeting" himself in the reference. Also the Fiends were the raiders the killed all the citizens. Motor-Runner said so himself. I've accumulated all the references I could and left them within the Vault 3 article for later rewriting. As for the question mark at the end of the advice taking - in hiding the weapons, I cannot remember the content of the submerged storerooms to verify.--Ant2242 (talk) 03:41, 19 October 2015 (UTC)

No, it's pretty much just what is there and the entirety of the terminal entries... which, now in review, appears to be not on the page. Do you remember if the captives have any more knowledge about Vault 3? I don't believe that they did but <shrugs>.--Ant2242 (talk) 04:20, 19 October 2015 (UTC)

Overviews[edit source]

Cool. I thought that they were already completed in a standardized way.--Ant2242 (talk) 10:59, 21 October 2015 (UTC)

Micro Sledge[edit source]

Sorry about that, for a minute there I got confused with the transculuedsections. I confused the original main background for the model background, which you rewrote. Since your rewritten section is far better than what was there before I had to add it to the main super sledge page. As for the characteristics section, isn't this about game mechanics and such?--Ant2242 (talk) 22:20, 26 October 2015 (UTC)

Should we split it? The FO3 & NV sections are concerning gameplay, but the FO1 & 2 are more lore biased.--Ant2242 (talk) 23:33, 26 October 2015 (UTC)

Lore contest entry[edit source]

Sorry about that. I was in such a rush to get my entry posted that I forgot to re-read the entry requirements. I'm going to make some quick edits to my entry first, and then I'll send you my email with all the info you need. Shadowrunner(stuff) 20:02, 28 October 2015 (UTC)

Alright my man, I sent the necessary info to the email you gave me. Shadowrunner(stuff) 22:32, 28 October 2015 (UTC)

Compitition[edit source]

I cannot read the talk page of the Blog, this new format is impeding the legibility.--Ant2242 (talk)

Found it, but still...--Ant2242 (talk) 23:41, 31 October 2015 (UTC)

Ah! Thank you so much for letting me know my entry got in (and also giving me updates). I wish I'd found out sooner about the contest, but I'm pretty pleased I got in before it was too late! Thanks for setting up a contest RIGHT up my alley --Revolver Pookie 03:32 1 Nov 2015

FO4 content[edit source]

I certainly don't want us to be on their shit list! <:-( As for I've been going through the leaked FO4 gameplay, (https://vimeo.com/144346205) trying to find things that we immediately need to cleanup before release. As usual it's GECK work. :-(

--Ant2242 (talk) 23:57, 2 November 2015 (UTC)

Lore competition win[edit source]

Wow, I mean wow. I honestly didn't expect to get close to first place given such stiff competition, with entries like Wasteland Lobotomy and Murder-Mountain's Enclave theory, let alone score a perfect 20! But writing my entry definitely was fun and it was good to get something that was brewing in my head for awhile out there.

I'd like to get a PC version of Fallout 4 when you can send me one. And thank you for holding such a great competition. Shadowrunner(stuff) 01:26, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

FO3 GECK[edit source]

My FO3 GECK editor completely lacks all DLCs and I cannot figure out why. If you have it could you please add Jensen's Edwards' Rivet City security and Brotherhood of Steel Knight's dialogue to the wiki? I'm trying to go through the characters that have been overlooked including their Broken Steel additions.--Ant2242 (talk) 03:02, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

Nitty's prize[edit source]

Beep boop. Gonna have to be the Vault Boy vinyl, but let me know if there's a change in the prize ordering beforehand. Thanks! Nitty the Kitty! 18:37, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

Oh, if it includes the bobbleheads, I'd prefer the 5" Repair bobblehead. Much cuter than the vinyl things! :P Nitty the Kitty! 23:35, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
I still haven't been contacted by Curse. Did you get the right email? Nitty the Kitty! 15:27, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

How extremely perplexing. I have a clutter folder set up to receive emails that look "spammy", but I also have a dedicated spam folder set up, and the Curse email went straight to spam. Furthermore, the person at Curse who emailed me is named Brianna, and I've actually received several other actual spam emails from people named Brianna, though with different last names, so it was really hard to pick it out! D:

I will get the prize form filled out immediately and have it emailed to them by tomorrow. Nitty the Kitty! 05:58, 1 December 2015 (UTC)

So, it's, uh, 2016 now, and I haven't heard anything back from Curse whatsoever regarding my completed affidavit. Nitty the Kitty! 10:27, 31 December 2015 (UTC)

Well, I sent it out in snail-mail first - the form itself said it could only be sent out through the mail or via fax, but I read over the other information and something else said I could email pictures of the completed form in to one of their accounts, so I sent that in two weeks ago to be certain. (It was sent to breed@curse.com, as specified on the affidavit.) I guess my hard copy never arrived? Nitty the Kitty! 18:45, 31 December 2015 (UTC)
Okay, so, I got an automated email back immediately from breed@curse (who is apparently out of town until the 3rd), so I sent the email to the right place the first time. This email also actually went into my inbox instead of being cycled into my "these emails are spam" folder. Nitty the Kitty! 00:34, 1 January 2016 (UTC)
B. Reed emailed me back, seems like everything's in order now. Nitty the Kitty! 22:56, 4 January 2016 (UTC)

Wooo, it arrived! Everything's hunky-dory now! :D Nitty the Kitty! 01:41, 13 January 2016 (UTC)

Quest stages[edit source]

  1. Okay, although I disagree about their stub status.
  2. I am, unfortunately I sometimes miss the description and the new stage format for FO4 should be discussed (please see Taking Independence and compare to VA:LAYQ).
  3. Yes it does, although it was originally only for the Gamebyo engine it has since been updated to include Creation.

--Ant2242 (talk) 05:24, 19 November 2015 (UTC)

I believe that we should update the Quest stage table by either adding an optional new column. Or creating a new one entirely for Fallout 4. My reasoning is that now the "descriptions" are now just the headers and the descriptions themselves are different. What do you think on the subject?--Ant2242 (talk) 21:23, 16 January 2016 (UTC)

I've gone ahead and created the template, unfortunately it keeps saying "Template: Loop Detected". Do you have any idea what this means?--Ant2242 (talk) 22:22, 16 January 2016 (UTC)

The doc page still displays a broken "</onlyinclude>" encompassing the example and the "Template documentation" section seems to be displaying "Template:Quest stage table creation/doc/doc". Did I mess up with the template itself?--Ant2242 (talk) 23:25, 16 January 2016 (UTC)

I transferred the new template onto the Emergent Behavior page, it is not showing up.--Ant2242 (talk) 00:37, 17 January 2016 (UTC)

Terminal entries[edit source]

We have switched to "Location terminals" as the format for the new terminal transcript article titles.--Ant2242 (talk) 06:28, 3 December 2015 (UTC)

Sorry, nevermind, I refreshed.--Ant2242 (talk) 06:29, 3 December 2015 (UTC)

Prydwen terminals[edit source]

My deal is for all terminals to be as exact as humanly possible to the in game information. I too am reviewing them personally, and I am not "lazily removing" anything. (Hell, I am the one whose been standardizing and GECK checking all the terminals holos & notes - with our RAW data pages. Even adding all the headers and closers that have been missing for years - no RAW pages for these yet <:-(.) All those headers are legitimately capitalized in-game and therefore must stay so on the terminals page. As for being responsible I left leave your much needed addition and grammar corrections to the header and notes section as is.

PS I returned "minimum" to "minumum" (as is in game), could you please verify if it is "Comparitive" or "Comparative". Also shouldn't Prydwen be italicized and what is the reasoning for those section headers to be?--Ant2242 (talk) 03:20, 10 January 2016 (UTC)

I have to disagree about the headers (different from the headers and closers mentioned before) and terminal names following normal English conventions. These must be as they are within the game, with all their spelling and grammatical errors. Who are we to correct errors in source documents.

I know your pain, I wish we were able to acquire all of these via the RAW data pages. It's what I used to review the majority of the FO3 & NV content (some still missing). Makes reviewing Much simpler and efficient.--Ant2242 (talk) 05:20, 10 January 2016 (UTC)

Mentioned[edit source]

No problem friend, could I get you opinion on a matter? I was thinking that "Miss Nanny" is the subtype overview page and "Ms Nanny" is the robot, like the Mister Gutsy and Mister Orderly pages. Am I incorrect?--Ant2242 (talk) 21:00, 10 January 2016 (UTC)

Article context[edit source]

I was referring to the subtype overview and the in-game robot name. For example the overview is "Mister Gutsy" while the individual robot is "Mr. Gutsy".--Ant2242 (talk) 21:35, 10 January 2016 (UTC)

Notable loot[edit source]

Sounds like what we were already doing. In any case all needs to be verified by the GECK.--Ant2242 (talk) 02:59, 11 January 2016 (UTC)

Forbidden Zone & sleepwear[edit source]

Combat armor[edit source]

Shouldn't the characteristics be transcluded from the individual armor's description within the overview? If so should we review all the armor backgrounds as well?--Ant2242 (talk) 03:13, 11 January 2016 (UTC)

Notable loot, v2[edit source]

Hi.

I think this notable loot is okay?

Oh, and still waiting for your link to comment. ;) -- CompleCCity (talk) 15:26, 11 January 2016 (UTC)

Okay, I'm not a professional in the GECK, but I can interpret random loot a bit: besides the definitive 12 grenades in my edit there were a 75% chance for each (25% chance for nothing), 12.7 and .308, each at a count of "120". What I don't know is, how to calculate this 120. Precalculating gave me a sum of 83 and 88 respectively. My char herself in the game looted more than 140 of .308 from the locker and some 80 of the 12.7. Besides this, I think 12.7 is a very rare ammo, thus notable anyway.
For the reverted edit… There are many places where some items are scattered throughout the area – but not in such amounts or that many useful items at all, as in the CG caves. Where empty bottles on a camping site are an atmospheric factor, placed by the level creators to add sort of reality, I strongly think that in the caves case it was intended to send the Courier on an item hunt. So could that info find a place in the layout section or in the notes rather than "notable loot"?
Oh, and it would be nice from you to leave your sig on your comments, so I can easily reach your talk page here. :o)
I'll read the policy later, will send you message. Bye, -- CompleCCity (talk) 17:22, 11 January 2016 (UTC)
Okay, let's discuss "notable loot" (as was done before in the forum – ended up without result in my eyes).
I've changed my last edit to "An NCR-owned locker in Hoover Dam intake tower 02 contains 12 frag grenades and about 90 rounds of each, 12.7mm and .308." Finally understood the "count" in the loot list: There are 120 times 12.7mm with a 75% chance each in that container, means 120 * 75% = 90. (I was wrong saying I found 140 .308, must have had some before.) I consider this a high chance for a notable amount, chances to find nothing are really low – so notable loot.
As for the policy…
  • First, my understanding of notable loot is, it has to be notable. That means, I will find things that are uncommon in any way or really useful, let the latter be: only for sale, too.
  • Coming to the given categories: All of them are included in my understanding – unique, rare, high value, size, high amount, finite amount… But that doesn't end here. For example I personally consider it notable, what has been reverted by you – because so many different and useful items scattered around in one area is special for that cell, uncommon, remarkable (which is only another word for the same thing, isn't it?).
  • Next: Considering. That topic has been discussed in mentioned forum, many points were given – and the essence seems to be that every single player will consider different things notable, depending on play style. And the policy reflects this: "High value", "rarity", "substantial amount", "high amount" (in connection with "notable" itself – you can't define a term by using the term itself ;o). What exactly is a "high" value? Something I can't afford to buy? At which point in the game? In the beginning a stimpak is too expensive to buy, later I could buy super stimpaks in high amounts. And how does the weight-value-ratio come into this? When is an item rare? Weapon repair kits were discussed. In my opinion they are rare, I've only found about 30 or 40 in the whole wasteland, add-ons and New Vegas (the town cells, casinos etc.) not included. They are sold by merchants very seldom, if at all. That the Courier can craft them makes them unrare? The Courier with certain perks can craft nearly everything. Which number makes the amount high or substantial?
  • Random loot is excluded. But what with my given example? 120 times a 75% chance, that will nearly never spawn nothing, the probability for a notable amount is high. Again two terms different people will define different. Considerations… One way would be to define those relativities in the policy, giving exact numbers for value or amount. But what about the personal opinion of many readers and contributors? Has everything to be regularized that strong? Back to my reverted add: One sentence in one article, and I think I'm not the only person to find that item situation remarkable (and they weren't random, all placed). Yes, I see – it's a big task to monitor such edits and it will often lead to discussions. (Please don't think I discuss all this with you only to get my edit back to the page, even if I mention it that often – that's not my intention, it serves only as an example.)
  • Also it would be a great task to rework and merge the container articles (one edit I've already done while writing here).
  • Suggestion:
    • Expanding/reworking the containers, complete with listing of all possible loot and the chances
    • Linking all containers in the layout section
    • Listing all placed items under (Notable) Loot, combining "junk" (e.g. "Several empty bottles, scrap metals and tin cans")
I don't know if that's a task for me, would be much work, much time. (And I still have to go on working on the weapons overview which I started and then put aside because of problems with incorporating AoE damage in my formulas.) But I already have some ideas. ;o)
Besides my suggestion I'm only thinking here, no real result. So, waiting for an answer… Bye -- CompleCCity (talk) 13:11, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
P.S. Could you tell me how to get "Crafting" out of the infobox on the container pages?
Um… that was a not half the detailed answer I was expecting … Sorry. ;)
So, whom may I ask how to get that "Crafting" out of the infobox?
And what do you think of giving detailed information about the chance and which item exactly to get from a container, e.g. the Mail dropbox? -- CompleCCity (talk) 16:41, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for taking me seriously and your expanded answer(s).
I think for today (Germany ~ 18:00) I will complete the loot lists for the mail dropbox and then stop working as a start.
Placed loot: Perhaps sometimes later.
I've found an option in the infobox template to "hide" a group, and "Crafting" seems to be a group there. But I didn't manage to hide it. So much for my working experience on wikis…
About the merge: I think I will complete the single container pages first and then see if the overviews should/could be merged – or not.
Er… Rollback rights? What is this exactly, what would I have to do, what time and effort would it expect from me? Regularly checking things, for example? (Thought, that's the same like "Undo" on a page's history, but obviously seems to be something different…) -- CompleCCity (talk) 17:06, 12 January 2016 (UTC)

Containers (at least, the first one)[edit source]

Hi.

As you probably, er… very likely have noticed I've done many things on the mail dropbox – and am now finished with it. So could you please take a look on this and give me some feedback? And shall I perhaps take that into the forum?

With all that work I have only noticed vaguely that you were doing changes, too. Oh, and what about an answer to my last topic? Or am I bugging you? ;) -- CompleCCity (talk) 18:24, 13 January 2016 (UTC)

No answer from you for 2 days now. I've continued work and have done the Mailbox after the same scheme. Before getting any feedback I won't continue putting so much effort and time into container articles, that probably with one click will be reverted by someone like you again. -- CompleCCity (talk) 15:42, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
Sorry if it seemed like I adopted the wrong tone (this phrase I had to look after in my dictionary ;). I had seen that you were active, but didn't leave me a note. I was a bit anxious that my non-standard layout (e.g. tables without borders) could lead to something like that. At least you and Ant were making some changes to my edits, which I am studying right now to see where I could make improvements in the future.
There's one thing you did change which I will revert now by my understanding of the english language: "Its content differ also." You took away the "s" from "differ" – but it's a singular, so "differs" was right, am I not?
Hey, that seems to get interesting… You're making many linguistic changes. Language is something that's important to me, too. And though I'm not a native English speaker, when writing such texts I try to choose my words carefully. (Which is way easier in German. ;) So another change:
  • Your version: "These traps are rigged to explode when one steps near them, in which careful explorers can easily distinguish them…"
  • My version: "… by a trap. They are rigged to explode when one steps near them. The careful explorer can easily distinguish them…"
While I understand that it's no good wording (and in German that wouldn't happen) to go from "a trap" to "they", I like the "careful explorer" thing in its own sentence much more than your version. Yes, definitely. Why are you saying "in which…"? No, that special thing I'll change back for now. ;)
I've created a forum topic, nevertheless, Ant thought it would be a good idea.
For those rights… First: Thanks for your confidence in me.
You didn't answer my questions regarding duties, coming with the rights. But anyway, I don't know if that's a good idea. There's much FO4 stuff happening now, and those things I won't, I can't monitor or even validate, because I do not own or know that game. And I don't want to get spoilered that much. If I stumble over some vandalism I would revert it anyhow – the slow way.
For now I am working on a location table, that shall help me to get the right areas/settlements easier from the GECK. After that I will go on with other containers. -- CompleCCity (talk) 12:47, 16 January 2016 (UTC)
In German shorter sentences are considered to be read more easily, for the … er … simple user, you know? ;) And making two sentences, one containing 11, the other 27 words, out of one sentence with 39 words wouldn't I call "a bunch of fragments". ;) -- CompleCCity (talk) 17:48, 16 January 2016 (UTC)
Ah, so you're from the Commonwealth… Good to know. ;) As for AE and BE: Could you tell me why the letter from Vault-Tec is addressed to Mr & Mrs Gomez (in Springvale), without the AE period after the salutation? -- CompleCCity (talk) 18:07, 16 January 2016 (UTC)
No, the transcript is correct, that's how it's written in the game file. -- CompleCCity (talk) 18:19, 16 January 2016 (UTC)

Wheaton Armory[edit source]

Wikipedia has armory pages with the "Armory" capitalized. I thought that this was the same case. Am I mistaken?--Ant2242 (talk) 02:45, 17 January 2016 (UTC)

I could have sworn that the facility's name was "Wheaton Armory". Is there any other name for the facility?--Ant2242 (talk) 03:53, 17 January 2016 (UTC)

Re: Chat[edit source]

Thanks for the note. Unfortunately Slack doesn't let me log in with my gamepedia account, seems so at least. Or, what about this sentence on the log in page: "To start using Slack, you'll need to be invited by your team administrator." -- CompleCCity (talk) 17:27, 19 January 2016 (UTC)

How can I do this without making my e-mail address public? -- CompleCCity (talk) 13:59, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

(Infobox) Missing Data[edit source]

They are not sub articles, this is the Mbox tag that describes that data is missing. As for the character data itself, from what I understand, it is decided by what parameters are set into the "GECKID" thus all generic characters are preset. Take for example Rivet City security, there are ten GECKIDs therefore there is ten generic characters that keep getting spawned. I added them on in a preliminary format - FO4 came out two days after. If I am wrong then fine, please explain (and use small words I am not that computer literate). If not then please leave the GECKIDs on the FO3 character pages (don't know what my computer is doing, it is only displaying FO3 data), I can add some of the info on the page. I would still recommend that it get reviewed afterward.

PS please please help me finish the FO1 & 2 characters first. I can add all the data there accurately, I however cannot acquire the proto ids for each character. Nor can I find the missing characters, especially the random encounter characters.

Junk category[edit source]

We currently have both the "Category:Fallout 4 junk" and ":Category:Fallout 4 junk items", should we just merge it into the latter?--Ant2242 (talk) 11:32, 5 March 2016 (UTC)

Thank you, but shouldn't the category be called "junk items"? This is the format with the previous "miscellaneous items" categories. Also shouldn't the "Shipment of <resource>" have their own page? They are junk objects too correct?--Ant2242 (talk) 19:00, 5 March 2016 (UTC)

Um… I've done some changes, too. Category:Fallout 4 junk items doesn't exist anymore, so a move is possible. But I wouldn't leave a redirect behind, so that there are no 2 categories available for HotCat – would irritate contributors who use it. -- CompleCCity (talk) 19:10, 5 March 2016 (UTC)
Forget that with "no redirect"… *headdesk* -- CompleCCity (talk) 19:12, 5 March 2016 (UTC)

New templates[edit source]

I believe that the outfits that characters wear modify their statistics. If so shouldn't we have templates that reflect this?--Ant2242 (talk) 20:47, 5 March 2016 (UTC)

No, there is a lot to be done, and yet, sadly too many would content themselves to carving up source documents rather than actively wiki. Unfortunately I am completely out of my depth with templates, or I would have already created one.--Ant2242 (talk) 01:20, 6 March 2016 (UTC)

McCarran[edit source]

The Camp is named for the airport that is named for him. How is this not a mention?--Ant2242 (talk) 21:53, 12 March 2016 (UTC)

Speculation deathclaw and template[edit source]

Template

How do we add the FO4 add-ons into the templates? (IE "FO4" = "Fallout 4" "FO3OA" = "Operation: Anchorage")

Mechanist

How are we not sure it is not the same person? Who else would it be?

Deathclaw

Are game overviews supposed to have a background and biology section if applicable?

--Ant2242 (talk) 23:57, 15 March 2016 (UTC)

1. Thank you. 2. Okay. 3. True, but this is the game overview of all its specific creature variants. Which has included as standard background and biology where applicable.

Also could you please look over "Paris"? I attempted to write that stub of an article into a full page, and hope to use this as a jumping off point for the needed "Project 'Blue Blood'" page. --Ant2242 (talk) 00:29, 16 March 2016 (UTC)

Could you please also look over the pages "Project Burke", "Project Hare", "Project 'Blue Blood'" and "Ghost (Fallout: New Vegas)"? (Ghost needs a parameter check for two lines.)--Ant2242 (talk) 11:15, 17 March 2016 (UTC)

Mechanists' armor diambig[edit source]

Why do we need this page? Are not both the costume of FO3 and armor of FO4 are different enough to not needed it?--Ant2242 (talk) 01:43, 25 March 2016 (UTC)

Well it's not harm per-say as why not just use the "Mechanist" disambiguation page? Especially since the armors are named differently this might just be the better option.--Ant2242 (talk) 02:36, 25 March 2016 (UTC)

Retcons[edit source]

Hello! I believe that it would be best to have the discussion on the Retcons page.--Ant2242 (talk) 23:31, 4 April 2016 (UTC)

CPG move[edit source]

Sorry about that; the paged already existed as (and only as) Massacre of the CPG so I was just going to redirect the newly created non-acronym version over to it, so as to not change what was already in place. It does seem more correct to have the spelled out version as the base page, so thanks for moving it and letting me know the convention. Brantmeierz (talk) 18:36, 10 April 2016 (UTC)

Re:Image cats[edit source]

I was removing the categories (like [[Category:Fallout 4 consumables]] from File:NukaCherryFO4.png) because it seemed out of place for media to be grouped together using categories that were otherwise used only for pages, and there weren't any other consumables images using them. Shouldn't they instead use [[Category:Fallout 4 consumable images]] or other media-specific categories? If not, then by all means change them back; it just seemed strange for images to be grouped with content pages, especially when there were so few of them in the mix. Brantmeierz (talk) 19:30, 30 April 2016 (UTC)

Template:Navbox creature FH[edit source]

Shouldn't this be merged into the Template:Navbox creature?--Ant2242 (talk) 03:54, 23 May 2016 (UTC)

You're right, this is a bit of a mess. Should we clean up the (defacto) overview navbox by only including the overviews? This would allow us to make a game based navbox for all the individual game variations on each creature.--Ant2242 (talk) 10:47, 23 May 2016 (UTC)
I'll get started on it now. In the meantime, could you - while your working on the FH navbox - merge the generic creatures to their game specific pages? Tags' bot didn't follow our merged page generic format.--Ant2242 (talk) 12:46, 23 May 2016 (UTC)
New thought, shouldn't these be done by game engine rather than game?--Ant2242 (talk) 22:02, 27 May 2016 (UTC)

section formatting question[edit source]

What is the policy regarding the characteristics section? Full Doyalist or Watsonian, or something in-between?--Ant2242 (talk) 04:15, 7 June 2016 (UTC)

"Affirmative action"? How so?
I always took it as the actual way the item functioned when possible. If that is qualifier is met then a separate "Gameplay attributes" is added within the section, detailing specifics about its function in game.
I was actually referring to the [[Character#Player character|Chosen One]] [[Character#Player character|player character]] thing.

The images on my first sandbox[edit source]

Yeah, sorry about that. I originally uploaded them to replace previous images if they were of lower quality and take account of the images from the COG deal. Also the images above them are only supposed to be place holders so we don't forget about the world objects, message files, and et cetera. I ended up getting distracted and not complete the uploading. Would you like me to add a "User page images" cat for now?--Ant2242 (talk) 07:18, 8 June 2016 (UTC)

After you are completed would you like to help me with those images? I've found myself a bit stuck in that project. Mostly because I cannot work pictures to save my life, but also because I believe that any project that would add official avatars and be used to replace poor quality images should be done with the community's approval.--Ant2242 (talk) 10:46, 8 June 2016 (UTC)
Proper placement on the wiki, proper summaries, proper categories, and properly replacing poor quality images. Specifically ones these are the same of.--Ant2242 (talk) 14:43, 8 June 2016 (UTC)
Thank You! If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. I am happy to do the work dedicated to the bots. (because Bots cannot be trusted) I believe that I described them well with the groupings, but I have neither added them all nor reviewed them since my distraction when starting the project.--Ant2242 (talk) 15:36, 8 June 2016 (UTC)

Brotherhood Aspirant[edit source]

Well, if you want the page to be "Brotherhood aspirant" then you should also change all of the other "Brotherhood X" pages, which are capitalized, and that is the original reason why I moved the aspirant page. --Trifler500 (talk) 01:47, 12 August 2016 (UTC)

Abbreviations[edit source]

No problem, do you see any I missed? Also what do you think of the MTA page?--Ant2242 (talk) 18:08, 30 August 2016 (UTC)

Haven't gotten far. Both because I've been busy and because I'm trying to not miss anything. Especially the terminals.--Ant2242 (talk) 01:41, 31 August 2016 (UTC)

I've gotten a little farther. To put it simply, I Love It. If only Bethesda could've done half as well with the main game.

Quick question however. What do you think about this new code of the terminal pages? Why do we need this header template? It seems counter productive to me to keep introducing new features to the terminal entries pages and never bother to finish or review what we have.--Ant2242 (talk) 04:18, 2 September 2016 (UTC)

Opinion[edit source]

Hello, I was wondering if I could get your opinion on an article I'm attempting to flesh-out. User:Ant2242/Vault 75‎‎ I hit a bit of a block and was hoping a fresh take would help.--Ant2242 (talk) 17:38, 3 November 2016 (UTC)

Re: Singular --> Plural[edit source]

I think it mainly comes down to what I've seen on other wikis and even Wikipedia lay out their lead sections (e.g. "The Iron Sword is a one-handed weapon..." and "The M4 carbine is a shorter and lighter variant of...") We've also been using this format for the past decade and there haven't been any troubles.

I think that's mostly because we give our readers a little credit in their skill to infer things: they're able to figure out that an article called "combat rifle" or "sledgehammer" or something like that is for a generic weapon, whereas something with a name, like "Old Faithful", obviously isn't something you can find just walking around. Beyond that, we already label the unique weapons as such in our articles, specifying "X is a unique weapon in Fallout 4" so I don't think there's a need to change the lead of every generic weapon from "the" to "a" or a plural version of itself; it's fixing something that's not broken. --Kastera (talk) 03:59, 25 January 2017 (UTC)

[edit source]

No problem. I agree a lot of the pages we have are far, far to close to their original bot creation.

PS: "Category:Pre-War companies" has been moved to "Category:Pre-War businesses". Also; What is the "Category:Fallout 3 advertisement images" supposed to be for?--Ant2242 (talk) 02:12, 4 February 2017 (UTC)

File edits[edit source]

Yeah, I do believe that we need a list of characters that use that dialogue in that parameter in the infobox.

Nice to hear from you in a while! How have you been? --Ant2242 (talk) 07:36, 26 June 2018 (UTC)

It's really good to see you as well! Been busy myself, life tends to find a way. It's been up and down for me lately, gonna have to get even less active soon. Trying to tidy up where I can... but there isn't that many links to correct and references to specify these days. :D Excited for Vault 76? To tell the truth, I'm not. I'm a bit mixed on what I've heard so far..... also - and more so - I lack the time to really get into it.--Ant2242 (talk) 07:56, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
