F:NV EW ammo question.

Hello GhostAvatar,

I've started going over the New Vegas EW ammo types and noticed there is no clear info about recycling and converting between types (SEC to MFC, etc.). Need some advice.

1. Is this info even needed on the pages?
2. If so, should all the conversion data be shown on all three pages?
   1. e.g. The energy cell page would list to and from, or just what energy cells convert into. Same for microfusion and electron charge.
3. Would this be better in a bulleted section or an infobox?

I've got all the information ready, but wanted to check before doing anything with it.

Block of User:Gregor_Hakha

Hello,

I have overturned the block of a user Gregor Hakha. This user does not seem to have been a sockpuppet of any form. Obviously as community admin, you have the right to make blocks and uphold them, but I sincerely believed this to be a good faith error, especially considering there is no vandalism on the wiki from said user.

MS .44 magnum

Can you take a look at the Mysterious Stranger's .44 magnum (Fallout: New Vegas) page?. I think Comedian created it, because it has a different appearance than the FO3 version. That's just about the only difference, stats are the same. As I see it, the difference doesn't warrant a New Vegas page. Looks to me like both weapons (FO3 and FNV) can be one page, Mysterious Stranger's .44 magnum, like it was up until yesterday. Jspoel 16:46, September 10, 2011 (UTC)

Well, Nukey created the User:MyLittleGoatse account because he stated he had forgotten his password. When he retrieved it again he was blocked for creating that account and some other things. What worries me now, is that he could be the same user as User:Gregor Hakha and User:Vault 101 Reject, as they all have My Little Pony references in their profile, with MyLittleGoatse going even further with the offensive name. Best to read the User:MyLittleGoatse talkpage for some further info. I really wonder why an admin would do such a thing, justifying trolling among other things. Boulder City memorial / mentioned-only characters

Ghost, I received a post from TwoBearsHigh-Fiving about names on the BCM. See my talkpage. Of the names on that stone and also for a lot of other mentioned-only characters, we're not sure if it's a human character or a ghoul character, since the NCR has some ghoul characters enlisted. Following this I would say that the human category for names on the stone be removed, (except Donald Kowalski) and also for other mentioned-only characters of which we're not sure, remove the human category. Another one

Avatar, I'd like to change to page creation templates so they are in line with the Lonesome Road release. It brought me quite a bit of profit having done some with the OWB release and I regretted for example I hadn't done the holodisks and notes. Now I want to do them all. They are hardly used anymore right now for FNV pages anyway, so I think this is a good idea and will save us a lot of work. Jspoel 20:57, September 13, 2011 (UTC)

• I don't think it will be such a problem. LR, a DLC and the two packs (Courier's Stash and GRA) have very different contents and the releases are a week apart from each other. I would say just change the FNV templates to LR and a few days later only some item templates (weapons, misc items) need changing. New achievement

I've had a talk on the chat with Ausir today and he agreed on removing the Fallout 3 locations achievement track, and replacing it with the Fallout 3 robots and computers achievements. I would like to do the work on changing that. When LR is released, the LR quest achievement track can be added. Another thing, you still like to include the Jury Rigging textual line, besides the infobox mentioning it? See this forum thread. Song problem

• Yup, it's working now.
• I've been doing that. I figured it out after 'Anything Goes' when I thought the would take me to the disambig page.

Giveaway for Lonesome Road

Hey there, my name is Tae and I'm the category manager for Wikia Gaming. I was talking to Ausir about doing another wiki contest for Lonesome Road, similar to the one we did for Old World Blues. Ausir suggested I talk to you about it and work with you on this one. Basically, I can offer you and the other admins 5 prize packs consisting of either Xbox Points, PSN points or Steam (we can gift to the winners' accounts) depending on their preference (total is about $100 broken down into $20 chunks (1600 MS points) per winner, which covers Lonesome Road plus the two weapons packs that are coming out.

We basically stay out of the way and allow you and the other admins to dictate the contest entry and parameters; I simply provide the prize and handle logistics of getting it to the winners. I and Bleep recently spit the Sugar Bomb page, and I jsut ran across the Gum drops page, and saw it needed the same treatment. I thought. It now seems that most every single one needs this, or should they remain? Are there some special requirements, like them being involved in a quest or perk, that has to be met? Icon images

Sorry to bother you again (you being a bureaucrat has made contacting you about things a bit easier I've noticed). What you think about renaming the Vault Boy icon categories to just icons? So rename Fallout: New Vegas armor and clothing Vault Boy icons to just Fallout: New Vegas armor and clothing icons? (without the former image behind icons because an icon in itself is already an image). And Fallout: New Vegas weapon Vault Boy icons to Fallout: New Vegas weapon icons and so on. Itachou renamed to it Vault Boy but a lot of icons don't have the Vault Boy, like headwear and items, so that's where the name doesn't fit. Now we have for example two weapon icon categories, that needs to become one. Jspoel 19:44, September 16, 2011 (UTC)

Should the Heavyweight perk be added to the infoboxes of affected weapons, or left as a line of text in the Notes?

I've also asked Jspoelstra about this, and thought I'd get more opinions. I'm fine either way, but as Jury Rigging is now only required in the infobox, should Heavyweight be the same? Obviously it's only a few weapons and may not be worth the bother, but it would make the pages a bit tidier.

That is a very good point. I won't alter any pages yet as I imagine this may turn into a contentious issue, but the more I think about it, the more I agree. A short while ago I was against even removing Jury Rigging from Characteristics, but you are right about a potential info-swamp. A problem with chat.

Hello Ghost. Recently, I've been having quite a severe problem with chat. I'm not quite sure how or why this has happened, but whenever I join chat, the names of those currently in chat do not show up on the sidebar, and I can only see the occassional comment being made. Any comments I do make don't register and so don't show up. Now, forgive me for being nosey, but I couldn't help notice that Guardian said something above about a problem he was having with chat. I don't know if this is the same, it's just a thought I had. At first, I thought this problem was just lag or bad connection, and that it would sort itself out in due course. Alas, it has not, and it has almost been a week since I encountered this problem. I am asking for your help in this matter, and I would be very grateful if you can. Just wondering, should they be added diretly to the Lonesome Road page? I would consider them worthy of appearing, because they offer repair options and act as merchants. I was contemplating adding them to the characters list, but I wasn't sure if it was appropriate. Your thoughts?

Alright, so I noticed that there are three different types of Riot armor in the DLC Lonesome Road...Sadly this wikia does not seem to have any "valid images" of all three of these armors. So I came here today to ask you to kindly upload some of these images as I did notice you have the ability to and I don't have Lonesome Road for the PC. And i'm in the process of improving all three of the articles such as the Elite Riot Armor. And also could you check the work I've done with the characteristics section of the Elite Riot Armor I'd like to know what you think so I can decide what to do with the other two. Armor images

I already talk about that with Jspoelstra and he was agree with me on this subject, and we thought to ask your opinion on that.

I always like the NIF renders since they are higher quality, more focused on the clothing in question and therefore having a more neutral view than the Geck renders , but in another point, the GECK renders are pretty nice too and adding something different of NIF renders. They are more alive and also a more faithful representation of the model in-game, it is better for a ​​direct immersion with the Fallout universe unlike NIF renders made ​​to be neutral.

So I thinking, we can keep NIF renders as always in the infobox and put a GECK render in the gallery section, I also saw that some people prefer the GECK render and with that way, everyone will be happy, and the two complementing each other perfectly. Perk section

I don't know about adding a perk section... You're suggesting to double-list perk stats, in the infobox as well as on the page? Looks a bit redundant to me. Would have to see an example. Another thing, I'd like to activate the Fallout 3 robots and computers achievement track today (Ausir's okay'd it). At the same the OWB quest track can be disabled and should an LR quests achievement track be started? Only 9 quests. And are the Van Buren characters still worth a track? Sig

I interpret this sentence from the policy as the important one: "A signature should not affect surrounding text to a great extent." I also do not consider an animated gif to be what the policy refers to as more than one image. The people I contacted had height problems, and their sigs were disrupting text around them. So, no, I don't think you need to change your sig. And I'm not going to go around measuring pixels for other people either. It's just a matter of unobtrusiveness. Perk section

I think a perk section on weapon pages could be helpful. Then, we could reserve the infobox for information about the unmodified weapon only. I would like to see it done as a table template, though, to discourage rambling and redundant mini-essays. The only reason we really added jury rigging to the infobox was to relieve the messiness and non-standardization of jury-rigging info being added to weapon articles. hey ghost, do you think we should add mods to the upgraded damage of weapons? Like the LAER is affected by laser commander,bloody mess, lord death, yought you died, and lonesome road. what about the 30% added by the prismatic lens. same with every other gun in fallout. Perks

Might not be such a bad idea, but the infobox has the advantage it works well with calculations/multiplications, and that's gone once you place the perk statistics outside of it. Also, this was the last DLC, it could still be managable. And I was thinking about the collapsible infobox, can't we use that to hide some less important statistics. But if we do it, the damage related perks should stay in the infobox and the more unrelated perks, like Heavyweight can be added to a perk section. Can you make an example of how it should look like? GRA Plasma Defender

Hey, I wanted to let you know that there actually is a weapon called GRA Plasma Defender. There's no new weapon modifications for pre-existing weapons already in the game. All the weapons modifications are for weapons added through GRA. So there's a GRA Plasma Defender, GRA Plasma Pistol, GRA 12.7mm SMG, and some others. Help with style, please?

Regarding your change from em dashes to parentheses in Protectron (Fallout 3), will you give me some help, please?

I originally made this change on 2011-09-16 as part of a cleanup of the paragraph. I tend to use a pair of non-spaced em dashes when a required stop doesn't seem sufficient to justify parentheses.

Of dashes, the WP MOS says,

Use dashes sparingly. More than two in a single sentence makes the structure unclear; ...

Any guidance you can give me regarding what is preferred in this wiki will be helpful; I don't want to work at cross purposes to anyone here.

Well there is a complex answer, with which there is no real right answer. This is because pairs of em/en dashes, parentheses, and pairs of commas all serve the same function in many respects. You was correct in using something other than a pair of commas, since the sentence already contained a comma. Using an alternative method to clarify the sentence structure was needed. However, em/en dashes are rarely used on this wiki - hence why it was changed by other editors. I simply stepped in and used the third alternative to prevent edit warring on the matter. I would suggest in future to use the more common alternative to prevent such edit disputes, especially since many editors are of the younger generation.

As for the piped linked, it already exists in Help:How to edit a page#Links and URLs. 01:30, September 26, 2011 (UTC)

GRA abbreviations

I did some work on the GRA weapon templates. Don't know of how much use they will still be because a lot of GRA weapon pages are already created, but can you take a look at the abbreviations? Is it |Games=FNV or |Games=FNVGRA? Same thing for {{Games|FNV}} or {{Games|FNVGRA}}. Jspoel 16:14, September 26, 2011 (UTC)

• I take it that's FNVGRA in both cases. Also adding some GRA weapon (mod) navboxes at the moment and improving those pages. I'm curious to see if the weapon's names are correct. We will know tomorrow.
